Unless all these countries championing EVs invest in extensive charging stations, EVs will only remain a niche. Yes, it is a great idea to buy an EV but you must also have a way for to charge quickly. Those oil stations better have at least one charger lying around else range anxiety will become a issue. Developing nations are suffering from this challenge. Developed nations are also suffering from implementation problems.

      1) a) Indian winters are not as harsh as American winters. Except high mountains & Ladakh pleateu only North Indian plains get to see the morning temperature reach upto PLUS FOUR degree Celsius, that too for less than a month. b) our winter days last 10 hours , not 4-5 hours.
      2) there is no place 'far away' in India. Furthermore , our people would stop & pull out their time , even leaving something important , to help a stranger stuck somewhere - without him needing to ask.

EVs are the future. Battery cost is dropping fast, it is predicted to go down as 60$/kWh in 2026. The cost of EVs will be on par with ICE.
With lower maintenance and running costs . EVs will be a natural choice.
Ten years down the line ICE vehicles will be something only purists will buy.
To add, I don't know the situation in the west. But here in India costs of EVs are coming down. They have lower tax and maintenance costs.
Some manufacturers give 8 years or 1,60,000 Km battery warranty, so no battery worries.
Also govt is planning to make a charging station possible every 20Km.
PS: I'm also planning to upgrade from my 8 year old Punto evo to an EV. Most possibly a Tata Nexon or MG Windsor. My only confusion is to buy now or wait a few months for the upgraded version.
