My roommate walked in on me playing this battle and he’s like “is this still the same game? What the h3ll” as a kid with the OG, we really didn’t see final bosses like this in Mario. I think this was the first time a mainline boss was so out of the Mario universe (I know there’s that optional boss battle in Mario RPG on SNES but it was optional). Like even in the SNES game Smithy was just cartoony and very Mario bros. So it really opened my eyes to the possibility of such deep lore.
God I love the remix so much… I know a lot of people prefer the original or dislike the remix, but I can have my own opinion. (I will say that I miss the audience screaming when they’re sucked up or straight-up murdered. That shit was legitimately terrifying)
Was a little disappointed by the sound of her ultimate attack(In the OG game it made a threatening bell type sound), but overall, great remake of the fight.

I grew up with this game and beat it quite a few times over the years. Just beat the remake today! If you're not playing with any special challenges it's easy to do, but an endurance match. I did 30 HP and 25 FP (badges added to some of those) and 60 BP. Quick Change and Charge were especially handy. Ultra ranked Bobbery and Vivian along with charged power bounce carried me through the fight. Carried only life and ultra mushrooms and jammin jellies with me in inventory.
Though she IS called the Shadow Queen, I still hate the cosmetic change to her hair. It was already ghostly Violet-Pink and there’s already enough shadowy purple all over her to show that she is a shadow demon.
Wait a minute, am I getting a mandela effect here? I could have sworn shadow peach’s dress was a really dark purple. Did the change it to full-on black in the remake?
While the graphics are an improvement, I think the music surrounding The Shadow Queen was better in the original, especially with an over reliance on heavy metal music at times.

In the original paper mario you can fight the final boss as many times as you want, which is why I don’t understand why the shadow queen can only b fought once each file

For all the visual upgrades this game got, have to say the shadow wave attack (the one after the +7 attack, brrrr-) feels a bit neutered. Seeing the whole screen get dark in the original as the shadow queen drew power from every shadow in the immediate area and unleashing it? The sound design also gave one hell of a punch, with a pseudo reverb sound as that energy from the shadows was finally released. Here it looks and feels significantly less powerful. Like she just conjured the magic herself, reabsorbed it, then unleashed it like a generic magic attack.
Shadow Queen: "Yesss. You are obidient. Good, my pet. Now you are mine. You will serve me for eternity." And so the Shadow Queen engulfed the world with her foul magic. For Mario, for Peach, and for the world, it was.... GAME OVER

A pipe appears right outside the boss door that takes to back to the enterance, just reload and goombella says "that pipe wasnt there before?" Or something lol

I'd say 50/50 on the remixes. Some are better than the original, like the Shadow Queen battle. Others, while still good, I end up preferring the original. (Like the "We believe in you, Mario! scene.) Then you also have ones I can enjoy both variations on, like the X-naut Fortress theme. Everyone shall have their own taste after all, at least they have a badge you can equip to change the music to the GameCube release. So win-win for each side I feel.

Peach has potent white magic, and a pure heart, which is perfect for dark arcane rituals, in this case, perfect for the ultimate witch’s reincarnation.
Graphics were a great improvement and brought a lot of new perspectives into the game that weren't able to be expressed before. Boss soundtrack for the Shadow Queen was a little bit of a letdown compared to the original though.
The wokes vandalized the original texts, I will no longer buy Nintendo again, now I will emulate and download a patch to return the texts to how they were originally
