Peach being possessed and immediately "killing" one of the game's antagonists is probably one of the darkest parts of a Mario game, ever.
So raw.
I like how they added the extra detail of the shadow queen struggling to raise her hands when giving Mario "her" power. Its the little stuff that makes this remake so good!
I only wish they kept the hair wishing of the shadow queen when she first emerges from her crypt 😚 but ya man tiny details like that get me pumped
It's so satisfying to finish off the shadow queen with vivian, who is heavily implied to basically be the same race/species as shadow queen
Man, the new graphics, soundtrack, expressions, and camera angles really bring out the drama even more. It's so awesome.

The voices from afar cutscene was so amazing I teared up. So many more joined in with the scenes and the music is just godlike.

Was a little disappointed by the sound of her ultimate attack(In the OG game it made a threatening bell type sound), but overall, great remake of the fight.
Actually I like her new sfxs more than the ones in the original

Personally I disliked the appearance of it, the wave doesn't have this ethereal yet nightmare effect, it made it so you seriously feel the fear and dread of how painful that attack is

So glad that You used Vivian to finish off The Shadow Queen considering that Vivian used to be part of The Shadow Sirens (who may or may not be the same species as The Shadow Queen) AND was one of The Shadow Queen's creations.🤩

My roommate walked in on me playing this battle and he’s like “is this still the same game? What the h3ll” as a kid with the OG, we really didn’t see final bosses like this in Mario. I think this was the first time a mainline boss was so out of the Mario universe (I know there’s that optional boss battle in Mario RPG on SNES but it was optional). Like even in the SNES game Smithy was just cartoony and very Mario bros. So it really opened my eyes to the possibility of such deep lore.
I grew up with this game and beat it quite a few times over the years. Just beat the remake today! If you're not playing with any special challenges it's easy to do, but an endurance match. I did 30 HP and 25 FP (badges added to some of those) and 60 BP. Quick Change and Charge were especially handy.
Ultra ranked Bobbery and Vivian along with charged power bounce carried me through the fight. Carried only life and ultra mushrooms and jammin jellies with me in inventory.
Inb4 people complain about spoilers to a 19 (approaching 20, by the way) year old game.
You'd be surprised how seriously some communities take spoilers, even tho their games are years old.

God I love the remix so much…
I know a lot of people prefer the original or dislike the remix, but I can have my own opinion.
(I will say that I miss the audience screaming when they’re sucked up or straight-up murdered. That shit was legitimately terrifying)

It’s sad seeing the partners sad about Mario returning home but at least at the end when you go back into your safe file and see them again and play around in rogueport

Man they did wonders on the music
While the graphics are an improvement, I think the music surrounding The Shadow Queen was better in the original, especially with an over reliance on heavy metal music at times.

No you can't the only bosses you can refight are the new secret ones
Mhm. only rematchable bosses are Rawk Hawk(same like the predecessor), Prince Mush(Exhibition Match, Glitz Pit) and Whacka(whacking it in Pit of 100 Trials B100F after killing Bonetail, Shadow Queen and chased Whacka out of Keelhaul Key)
In the original paper mario you can fight the final boss as many times as you want, which is why I don’t understand why the shadow queen can only b fought once each file

@@prosylan6368 In the remake after I beat her, I went back to the room where she was, and no cutscene occurred even tho in all the Zelda games you can battle the final boss as many times as you want

Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door is one of the most objectively beloved titles in the Mario franchise, and is essentially half the subject of the Paper Mario fandom’s legendary flame wars, with endless discussions abounding on whether or not the newer games stack up to it, and the fandom has been begging for years for it to be revived and/or for there to be more content like it in the series. Trust me, it gets MORE than it’s fair share of love. I’m not sure you’ve got the right definition of “underrated”.
It's a masterpiece but not underrated. The fan admiration is the reason we got the remake.

Ok so, I am stuck here. I keep dying. Do not have enough ITEMS. Is there anyway to go back to ROUGE PORT, LOAD UP on ITEMS and come back? Can I get back in easily? I did save right after I beat BOWSER. Jesus these boss battles at the end are great though so hard and so many!!
A pipe appears right outside the boss door that takes to back to the enterance, just reload and goombella says "that pipe wasnt there before?" Or something lol

@@lindsayhopper309 yes. Get past first phase. Bowser. Save!!!! Then if you die on peach phase go back to previous save there will be a pipe. Back to front of castle. Go back to rogue port. Load up on great items. Then it’s easy!

Nintendo cooked with this remake.
Graphics were a great improvement and brought a lot of new perspectives into the game that weren't able to be expressed before. Boss soundtrack for the Shadow Queen was a little bit of a letdown compared to the original though.
I disagree actually, I love all the remixes and new themes in this remake, and the music on Chapter 7 and 8 are my favorites

I heavily disagree, the shadow queen remixes are my favorite remixes in the remake
I'd say 50/50 on the remixes. Some are better than the original, like the Shadow Queen battle. Others, while still good, I end up preferring the original. (Like the "We believe in you, Mario! scene.) Then you also have ones I can enjoy both variations on, like the X-naut Fortress theme.
Everyone shall have their own taste after all, at least they have a badge you can equip to change the music to the GameCube release. So win-win for each side I feel.
Some good, some meh. Pretty hard to make perfection better, but these are damn good remixes
@xenonabaki8011 Still very much pleased FINALLY getting out of limbo with a re-release. (Same with RPG, but I believe it at least was on the Wii Shop Channel.) Feels great to have others be able to play this without having to deal with scalping prices for GameCube releases, a Wii, or worse, BOTH. Plus, it's able to be taken on the go now as well!
Is it perfect? No. Could they have added more? Sure. But most important factor, is that they didn't fuck up the main game itself to its core. Even fixing some backtracking scenarios like on Keyhaul Key. *Claps hands* Hopefully, this'll open Nintendo's eyes quite a bit on what'll actually work for the mario RPG's going forward. (Be it Mario RPG, Paper Mario, or if plausible, even Mario & Luigi.)
