Smoke cigarettes. Smoking will prematurely age your skin and make your teeth yellow.
Yellow teeth. White teeth look young and fresh.
Dying hair too dark or unnatural. Gray hair is an indicator of aging. How will you handle it? You could let it go, or you could color it. Coloring your hair, whether on your head or face, too dark or unnatural ages you. Both make you look like you're trying too hard. Instead, keep a bit of salt and pepper. Some products on the market will allow you to tone down the gray without going too dark.
Running shoes. You're aging yourself if you were running shoes with anything other than workout pants or shorts. Do not wear them with regular shorts or khakis. They're horrible with jeans as well.
Dad jeans. The baggie trendy jeans will work for young guys. But old guys who adopt this trend look like they're just rocking big, baggy pants. Your pants should not be skin-tight, either.
Boat shoes. You look like Uncle Barry.
Uncle Barry glasses. These will make you look old, boring, and basic. Go with something more structured and stylized with attitude and edge.
Pleated khaki pants. Khaki pants are the devil. These aren't cool if they're big and baggy with pleats.
Old man polo shirts. They're basically like performance polos that suck (don't wear a little boy polo either with the big patterns and stripes).
Oversized sports coats or suits. Nothing makes you look more frumpy and dumpy like wearing oversized clothing, specifically suits. Ensure your suit is tailored and the fit is tapered without being too tight.
Wrinkles and bad skin. You need to wear your sunscreen daily. You want to avoid age spots as well.
Not working out. If you want to look amazing for your age, work out. Go to the gym routinely so you don't have a soft, doughy dad bod.
Low testosterone level. If your testosterone level gets low, you can develop man boobs and lose muscle mass. You may also have a difficult time packing on solid gains. Your sex drive declines, and your wiener won't work.
Big Al doesn't work. A Big Al that works when you want and need it to is youthful.
Dating too young. This makes you look old and pathetic. The formula for dating age is your age divided by 2, then add seven.
Neglecting your grooming. Don't look like a savage. If your facial hairs are crazy, you look old. Whether it's your nose hair or your hair, if it's wild and crazy, you need to groom. Get rid of long and nasty hair that grows in weird places. Also, you need to maintain your hairstyle.
Losing hair. Premature hair loss does make you look older. If you're not interested in caring for it, shave your head.
Tired eyes. If you have a lot of dark circles or your eye skin looks like old ball skin, you need to use eye cream and get enough sleep.
Alcohol consumption. Too much alcohol ages you badly.
Dehydration. If you're not drinking enough water, this will make you look old. Your skin will get ashy and dehydrated. Make sure you're hydrated for supple and elastic skin.
Eating a crappy diet. Your body and skin can look horrible from a poor diet.
Where you shop. If you're shopping at Brooks Brothers, you're likely more mature with old money. This equates to looking old. Young dudes wearing older clothes look young and cool. Older men wearing older clothes makes them look older. But on the flip side, don't wear clothing that's too young, making you look awkward or trying too hard. Avoid clothing that is too tight, youthful, or trendy. If you're in a store and everybody's young enough to be your kid, you're in the wrong store.

@@kabukiarmadillo I think the only thing that makes a pair of jeans - 'dad' jeans is the fit. As long as you get a nice, slim(not skinny) fitting or tapered jeans, you'll be fine. Avoid the overly baggy jeans - those are the 'dad' jeans.

He has a point though that all men should dress in style - especially old ones - if they dont want to look like complete losers.
Another sign of an old man is someone who is excessively energetic and talkative. When an aging person tries to fake (what he thinks) youthful energy.
I agree with most of these: don’t smoke, keep exercising, have a good diet, moderate alcohol consumption, take care of your skin, no boat shoes (never liked those), personal grooming, etc., but I refuse to buy anything from collars and co. Way to much money for a golf shirt.
This isn’t because I do not spend money on my cloths or work on my presentation, it is because the products are over priced for what they are. The collar simply isn’t worth it. Wear a custom dress shirt for the same or near the same price.
And on a personal note, I do shop at Brooks Brothers and wear pleated trousers (often made for me). Why? BECAUSE I’M F’N OLD and am proud of it. There are those of us who enjoy the separation from the less experienced.

Let's see, I don't exercise all the time, I don't eat right all the time, I have gray hair and my facial hair is white, I don't dress like Alphy here, and even though I'm 53 years of age, people have told me I look much younger than I am. I guess it's because of genetics. Now Aaron here looks like a man in his late forties. Not saying that as an insult or anything, but to me, no matter what he does, or how he dresses, he looks like a man in his late forties. When he put on those glasses it didn't age him or make him look older. It simply made him look like a geek.

LOL, this is a great vid. But the one (and maybe ONLY) thing that is really great about getting older is that I don't much care about all this stuff any more. I just want to be healthy, happy and an asset to any given situation.
Great answer. An older guy like AlpaM can do his best to look good for his age, but there's no denying: all guys older than 45 will not look younger.
Spot on. This dude said he was 50 and in my head I was guessing close to 60 lol. Just getting healthy and finding a comfort for your lifestyle. Plus he broke one of his own rules. Those tighter pants with no show loafers is a 20’s look. He is trying too hard.
This is if you want to look like you actually care about trends and fitting in. I don't, so I wear whatever I want in my late 40s. You have to wear what you feel happy in, otherwise no matter what it is, it's going to make you appear uncomfortable. And that will make you look old.
I will be 60 in 2 months. People mistake my 38 year old son and I for brothers all the time. I've lived a clean life, been active on and off my entire life, got into the best shape of my life at 39, and even better shape at 54. Exercise is truly the fountain of youth. I do use "Touch of Gray" in my hair and beard. Not looking to get rid of ALL the gray. Not trying to fool myself or anyone else. Just looking to look how I feel; vibrant. I actually feel 25, but just looking to look like my late 40's. I am slacking again now and have to get back to working out again. Before covid hit I was in the gym 3 times a week and jogging 4 miles 3 days a week, at age 54. I did that for 3 years. Time to get back to it.

Lifting is for life. Ps. covid hit over 4 years ago, you could still workout at home and ran or walked which is actually about useless. You can do weightless squats that will build leg muscles.

However, for the past 2 years I've been doing lighting for films part time on top of my regular job, while also getting my property ready to sell. Time is a little tight, making jumping back in a little less attractive. Yes, excuses, but I wasn't doing as much film work, in addition to my regular job, for the last 3 years that I was working out. I have to kick myself in the but to get on it.

I see you were building one on your Channel about 10 years ago that's really cool when I was a kid I always wondered what kind of car that was finally found out when the internet came out and you couldn't bring one into the US until after it was 25 years old so I never saw one at a car show or anything
@@magiccheeseball - I do still have it. It is still in the same condition as in the last video about it. I've been working on a filmmaking career, part time, since 2006. That's where my free time has gone. However, I am looking to retire soon and then I will have plenty of time to work on the car (after we move). I am hoping to work on it some here and there before I retire. It would be nice to get the body done before I retire, while I have a good income. That is the most expensive part. The rest of the work I can do.
My wife looks after her 85 year old uncle, so when she no longer needs to do that I will retire, we'll sell our house, and relocate to a better location for us, and a smaller house, with less to take care of. We also won't have a house payment anymore at that time, so that helps.

I use Just For Men Control GX shampoo, I still have greys but they're on my terms. I actually discovered this channel about 5 years ago when searching for grey reducing products!
I haven’t found any of that crap to look natural. It turns the grays purple. There is no product that covers some gray and leaves the rest natural. It just doesn’t work that way.
@@airadaimagery692 I can only say that from my experience that’s not the case. It darkens the whites to grey & the greys to brown. I have greys at my temples but the rest look like highlights. No purple except the bathroom tiles before I got my routine sorted!

As kids, my sister and I once asked my dad why he didn't grow a beard. He said, "I don't want to grow a beard, beards make you look old! I don't want to look old!" and that has stuck with me my entire life. I'm always clean shaven and when I see guys with beards, my brain registers them as older than they are. Often people younger than me will feel to me as if they are older than I am. This guy seems older than me.
I will say one thing about beards, they are really good for hiding imperfections, if you have a weak chin or don't have a strong steel jawline, or if you have a lot of waddle under your chin or acne scars, you can just cover it all up with a beard and reshape your face. I see it as the man's version of the layers of makeup women plaster on their faces to 'even out' their skin and pretty much completely change what they look like.

Having hair loss spots, growing any facial hair, having dark circles/puffy eyes, smoking weed/cigarettes, getting fat, having a sun tan, and not treating your wrinkly skin with anti-aging lotion makes you look old. The clothes are not really the main factor... Believe it or not, laughing and smiling too much makes your skin wrinkled faster... Sleeping on your side will cause laugh lines to appear too... You are better off sleeping on your back (even if it causes snoring). If women take care of themselves and think they are better than men for it, then why not us guys as well?
