any video on changing the oil ? made a mistake starting up, hooked up wrong way sucking vacuum. actually leaving air in lines. can't believe I was that stupid. shut down system after half day and now learning how to fix it. oil will have some water now, which is bad.
Hvac know it all, good stuff as always, is this POE oil? I always thought we had to ensure that when pumping oil in that its not open to atmosphere due to Hygroscopicity
Thanks for video. I have exact same problem on a semi-hermetic I’m working on now. I need the tool and sight glass. Where were you able to locate the sight glass at? Mine is about 1 1/2” on an old Carlyle I believe.
it's a good tool to have if you work on semi hermetics frequently. I picked one up a few years back and soon after, i came across a oil sight that was seeping oil, bad seal. made it a hell of alot easier to unthread than using a large flat head screw driver lol
Looks like he's was beating behind the bush... you can front seat the king valve. The unit will starting going into a vaccumm and storing all liquid refrigerant into the receiver tank. Once it's in the and settle for a bit. You can replace the filter drier and proceed to do what he showed.. can drain and replace oil also. Once closed up. Pull a vacuum. That's pretty much it
I never learned in my 23 years working in the Mechanical field that an adjustable wrench can use as a hammer too.

Did you have to recover the refrigerant before doing this or is the oil sump isolated in these semi hermetics?
Spade Alvarez I can pump the refrigerant out the compressor, there is a strategic way to do it, but yes it must be empty to change.

Tell me more about it. For how long do I run unit? How do I know if all refregerant is in the coil ?
