    Imagine a guy like Federer having the humility to ask if it would be okay for him to play even something like Doubles from Borg. He's an amazing guy and we're all so fortunate to have had him as part of our great sport.

    • @piner74
      @piner74 2 года назад +2

      true, but borg is pure marketing and effectively has nothing to say. did you hear him say anything to his team except "come on, let's go"?! :-) none of the players ever asked for his advice either.

      And I as a Roger fan have the most respect for Rafa. And especially after his today's dedication to help Roger's last match to be a winning one and his tears afterwards not only because Federer's retirement but also because they lost in his last match says much for his great character... He did everything he could and he wanted Roger to win more than even Roger wanted himself today lol. But im can't overcome Roger's retirement... The saddest thing is that he didn't stop tennis because he wanted to, but because he was forced by injuries. I hope that it won't be the same with Rafa and I wish him a long duration and even more success for the rest of his career from the bottom of my heart he deserves it...

Never expected what he would achieve and how he'd set the bar, and how he'd push Rafa and vice-versa and helped create Novak and Andy as well. There was a time they all were chasing him. He's always been my fave and always will. A gentleman and class act. Artist on the court.

    I have been watching 100% of RF's matches since 2004, when I was a kid; not possible to watch them live, I watched them recorded or online. I was never able to see him live, though it was a great wish since childhood... Now... I have mixed feelings, but for sure I feel sad for not being able (time, money) to be in that atmosphere created in one of his matches. And I feel sad because this ends now. I went to his website and I bought a cap, with his logo and "Roger" on the back, in a beautiful dark green colour. It is a nice cap. In the end, I feel grateful for being able to watch his amazing career in colors. 😊

    Roger's love of the game is not in question. He has plenty of fame, fortune, and celebrity. I would be very interested in hearing him speak about what tools he used to motivate himself, decade after decade, that enabled him to maintain the mentally positive competitive attitude necessary to continue playing at an elite level. Knowing you must still practice for hours, do hours of physical exercise to maintain strength and flexibility, play through the aches and pains, have lots of physiotherapy, etc., all these things would eventually make most players lose their mojo. I would enjoy hearing him speak about motivation, how to sustain a winning frame of mind, how do you stay focused on the positive aspects instead of being distracted by the negatives? You'd think that after having knee surgery, all of the above would make him call it quits, and yet he still wanted to see if his body could get back into game shape. I'll certainly miss watching you, but I'm grateful for your professional attitude, your public display of sensibility, and for years of entertainment with masterclass shot making. We never hear about your philanthropic endeavours. I would find it worthwhile to see your leadership side, to see how the world is benefiting from what tennis enabled you to do.
