Loving your SRV course mate. Even all the background reading you've put into it is great. I'm chuffed to bits that I'm halfway through Texas flood and able to improv some bluesy licks over the backing track. Have you considered a private Facebook group for people on your courses to share their progress and feedback etc? Cheers
I bought the DVD when it first came out in 91. I watched it so many times, and brought over so many people to see it, and everyone always sat there with their mouths wide open. I loved SRV so much that in 94 when my son was born, I named him Stevie Ray.
The first time I saw Stevie live on video. I was almost in tears with an open mouth throughout. Bought a strat soon afterwards and thus began my guitar journey.
Yknow, I think the shout factory performance might be better 🤔. Or maybe not but i can enjoy it more if that makes sense, and i go back and forth. But this is timeless and a good step on point to all things stevie
I have been studying SRV for 20+ years and can honestly say, Sean has almost certainly resurrected SRV from his grave to recereate this video. The phrasing, the tone, complexity and feel is so spot on, anyone would be very hard pressed to deny the exact replication of one of the greatest era Bluesman of all time. Phenomenal just phenomenal captures the sentiment.
As usual, one of the best (if not THE best) cover I have ever heard. You are one of the few guitarists who can capture the essence of SRV's songs. Love this cover.
"The blues are the roots and the other musics are the fruits. It's better keeping the roots alive, because it means better fruits from now on. The blues are the roots of all American music. As long as American music survives, so will the blues." ~ Willie Dixon (1915-1992)
Wow...best cover I’ve seen on SRVs masterpiece “Texas Flood”...I take my hat off ! Stevie Ray Vaughan is for me the most talented guitarist ever and a legend... I remember that day long ago when heard on my car radio as I was going home that he had passed away and I just pulled over and sat in my car for like 10-15 min and tears fell out of my eyes...He was taken away from us far to early...but those screaming riffs of his will live forever...RIP SRV! ❤️🙏
"The blues is celebration, because when you take sorrow and turn it into music, you transform it." ~ Odetta Holmes Folk, blues, spirituals guitarist, lyricist (1930-2008)
1st of all.....I really enjoy watching covers. I think it's from mid and late 70s rock club scene in NY. There were 15 to 20 great Rock clubs within a 50 mile radius. They all had great cover bands 7 days a week. That plus all the channels here on RUclips. With that said....this is probably the best guitar cover I have ever seen. And we're talking covering one of the greatest guitarists to ever walk on the planet. Not just note for note, but in every way.....on his greatest song. Cheers my friend. It truly was incredible.
Dude i am watching this in class right now and my face is dropped. I cannot explain how beautiful this is. You have really done this one justice, to the max. I am honestly astonished at how incredibly well done this is, you're unreal!
This is insanely cool that you were able to cover this version of the song with this kinda precision. I bet this took some real work and dedication. I salute your resolve sir.
"Everything comes out in blues music... joy, pain, struggle. Blues is affirmation with absolute elegance. It's about a man and a woman. So the pain and the struggle in the blues is that universal pain that comes from having your heart broken. Most blues songs are not about social statements." ~ Wynton Marsalis
Thank God for .25 Speed. I'm figuring this bad boy out. Already have the intro and the fast lick but I can only do the fast like at like 75% speed. It's hard.I might literally have to play this 1000 times.
Had to buy the VHS 2 times and keep 2 DVDs now, They have legs. That had great sound, camera angles, and they were on fire that whole show. El Macombo SRV greatest live so far
"Music is your own experience, your own thoughts, your wisdom. If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn. They teach you there's a boundary line to music. But, man, there's no boundary line to art." ~ Charlie Parker (1920-1955)
Absolutely fantastic attempt my friend. I only say attempt because we all wish we could have his true feel and relentless attack on the instrument. You're closer than 99% of us no doubt. Cheers
Flipping utterly ridiculous. I cannot believe anyone but the man himself can do this that well. The amount of time an effort here is a lesson to us all. Well played Sean. Seriously--the WHOLE EL MOCAMBO TEXAS FLOOD. You have my full attention.
Congrats, you have officially mastered the electric guitar. Seriously, Sean, this is so good, glad to be following you, I’m watching this the night before my SAT and this video was what I needed to cool off, so thanks on a personal note. This is AMAZING!
One of your absolute best Sean. Epic playing. Fabulous choice. If you can produce this tone live, time to start touring. You will kill it. I can’t give you any bigger compliment than say your the closest I’ve heard anyone get to SRV technique and tone and many have got close. If you love SRV you have to respect what Sean’s giving us guys. Best on RUclips
It's so good that I'm flabbergasted every time. finally, I listen to it more than the original version of SRV which I love. All my neighbors know your version by heart.👏👏👏👏👏
I watch the El Mocambo just to see the crowds reaction . If i could have just been in that club and listened to greatness . I often wondered if the ppl there knew what they were listening to and how epic it was .
WTF!! I NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD EVER HEAR ANYONE ..GET CLOSE TO DOING THIS SONG JUSTICE! HOW THE HELL CAN YOU DO THIS ..... SETTING DOWN!! REMARKABLE ... SRV , WOULD BE PLEASED! I SURE AS HELL AM! BRILLIANT!! MANY THANKS!
Completely agree!!! The El Mocambo version of TF makes the hair on my arms and the back of my neck stand up every time I listen to it. Stellar cover btw! Love it!! I would absolutely love to see a video of you Sean, and Tommy Kotana together cutting heads on an SRV cover like this. That would be absolutely epic!
You should book a small tour through Texas, I think you would absolutely kill it, obviously Texans would adore you. Maybe do something like Randy Hansen does but make it a SRV tribute.
I was listening to an SRV bootleg prior to this video automatically playing afterwards. I thought to myself, damn, Stevie sounds good as hell here. I go to look and it's Sean playing. Brilliant!
Definitely faithful to the original, but with a lot of your own flair thrown in. I can see you had the patience to sort out everything he played in order, while I usually just improvise my own solo that uses some ideas of SRV's solo. The result is, you sound much more like SRV than me.
Firstly, hats off to you for going there! I have to agree, the El Mocambo version is quite possibly the greatest live guitar performance in history. Secondly, I absolutely loved your take ... just brilliant. Full of the El Mocambo flavour but not verbatim, with a healthy dose of licks that aren't in the original ... just really tasty stuff altogether. Thanks for putting this out!

So awesome! I love how you interpreted the vocal parts. Unbelievable!!
Loved every note! 👏🏻
Loving your SRV course mate. Even all the background reading you've put into it is great. I'm chuffed to bits that I'm halfway through Texas flood and able to improv some bluesy licks over the backing track.

You were damn close brotha!!! That was blue’s perfect
El mocambo's Texas flood is ultimately the best electric guitar performance ever.
The first time I saw Stevie live on video. I was almost in tears with an open mouth throughout. Bought a strat soon afterwards and thus began my guitar journey.
Totally agree. His playing at that show was ferocious.
Yknow, I think the shout factory performance might be better 🤔. Or maybe not but i can enjoy it more if that makes sense, and i go back and forth. But this is timeless and a good step on point to all things stevie
Yes, totally agree. He defined himself as the best blues player alive with that gig. No one has got close since.
The version of Lenny he did that night is the greatest thing ever and when he did tin pan alley into dirty pool, I think it was Japan. Incredible!
I never in a thousand years would've believed anyone could get this close to the original. That's unbelievable
I have been studying SRV for 20+ years and can honestly say, Sean has almost certainly resurrected SRV from his grave to recereate this video. Thanks for the kind words!
Utterly Amazing playing mate , feeling spent , like an emotional journey... by the end
You really did Stevie justice with this cover. As Albert King said to SRV once: "You're qualified." 😁
🙏
As usual, one of the best (if not THE best) cover I have ever heard. You are one of the few guitarists who can capture the essence of SRV's songs. Love this cover.
I totally agree with you 👍🏼
Cheers man! 🙂
muacks
Agree, probably the best
Opinion
I came home from work the other day and caught my guitar watching this.
😂
With longing in its eyes, no doubt. 😂
I can’t believe that someone not named Stevie Ray Vaughan can play this song this damn good!! Dear lord Sean you are incredible.
I have a new favorite guitarist. Thank you for keeping SRVS music alive.
"The blues are the roots and the other musics are the fruits. It's better keeping the roots alive, because it means better fruits from now on. The blues are the roots of all American music. As long as American music survives, so will the blues."
~ Willie Dixon (1915-1992)
What kind of sorcery is this? You never fail to channel SRV in the most authentic way I've ever heard him brought back to life. Seriously. WOW.
My hand started hurting just watching this. Amazing skills.
When Sean performs, Texas is always flooded in some way or another.
It's actually snowing at this very time which is very odd... But yeah, it's gotta be Sean's playing that's caused this
@@ruditopoderoso It's undeniably caused by the blues' power! Stay safe, and best wishes to all of my Texan brothers!
I honestly wouldn't have been surprised to see you playing behind your back!!
Amazing!!!
Wow...best cover I’ve seen on SRVs masterpiece “Texas Flood”...I take my hat off
!

That pinched harmonic at 7:25 is absolutely insane!
Yep, and that's the spot where Stevie starts playing behind his back in the original. I guess Sean wasn't gonna attempt that.
This is the best version of the El Mocambo version of this song I've ever heard. You should be proud of this cover
Wow!!! There are very few people on earth that can play like Stevie the way you did. Incredible.
The magnitude of greatness displayed here cannot be measured with todays existing technology. Thank you for doing this!!!!

That pinch harmonic at 7:25 was sweet! What an incredible performance altogether! Keep on playin the blues! 🎸
Thanks a lot!
this guy has definitely been to the crossroads...
Incredible! The fact that someone could come within an orbit of SRV performance is breathtaking

Stevie's looking down smiling on your brother!!! OMG!!! You touched my soul with this one. Hugh SRV fan. God bless you brother.♥️♥️👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
OMG it is like SRV is back from the dead. Sean Mann - you are the man 🎸
I love that you played his vocal lines and than the soloing chops, hands down one of the most accurate covers i’ve ever seen!!
Mannnnnn.... what can I say? Don't let Stevie hear this..... he'll come back to haunt you! UNREAL...
Dude i am watching this in class right now and my face is dropped. I cannot explain how beautiful this is. You have really done this one justice, to the max. I am honestly astonished at how incredibly well done this is, you're unreal!
Mate you shouldn't be watching it in class, you should be showing it to the class .. lol
This is insanely cool that you were able to cover this version of the song with this kinda precision. I bet this took some real work and dedication. I salute your resolve sir.

100 points perfect score for the playing and bonus points for the shirt.

This one is the best cover of El mocambo's Texas flood i have ever seen.
We the vocal's on, i would consider it the OG
Thank God for .25 Speed. I'm figuring this bad boy out. Already have the intro and the fast lick but I can only do the fast like at like 75% speed. It's hard.I might literally have to play this 1000 times.
It sounds so much like him that I keep anticipating hearing SRV say “well it’s floodin’ down in Texas!” as I’m sitting here working. 👏
🙏
I truly doubt there is any better guitarist in the world at this time. S/M is a guitar genius!!! Please, we NEED a CD!
Had to buy the VHS 2 times and keep 2 DVDs now, They have legs. That had great sound, camera angles, and they were on fire that whole show. El Macombo SRV greatest live so far
A tear drop from my blue eyes

Nice touch and emotion. You captured the spirit of SRV extremely well.
this is my favourite.I never tire of listening to it and watching the video when I can. it's truly incredible. 0:50 this lick is marvelous .
Omg yes 🙌
Flipping utterly ridiculous. I cannot believe anyone but the man himself can do this that well. The amount of time an effort here is a lesson to us all. Well played Sean. Seriously--the WHOLE EL MOCAMBO TEXAS FLOOD. You have my full attention.

Stunning, more flourishes than you can shake a stick at…
Thank you! Cheers!
Well. That's put a big, big smile on my face!! Fantastic!! That El Mocambo gig was superb, and Texas Flood was sooooo, sooo great. Great work. Thanks
Il faut avoir le courage de s'y attaquer, et le talent de le rendre avec autant de perfection. Quelle émotion, c'est juste incroyable !!!
Wow this is insane! For being one of the best live performances ever by Stevey this could very well be the best cover of it.
You did this great. Stevie and Peter Frampton are the only artists that I can think of who's live performances are better than their studio records.
I never get tired to the el macombo srv performance.... it's tough for any human to mimic the greatest but you came prob closest.
Incredible that we still see fantastic guitar players like you playing SRV. Keep bluesing buddy! Wish you all the best
Awesome cover dude! And I’ve seen Stevie Ray do this twice! Totally enjoyed it! Well done! Thanks for the upload!
Pure heaven!!! Amazing technical skills with all the feeling and sound!
🙏
That is without question the most impressive cover I’ve ever seen of this. Outstanding performance!
That was fantastic. I saw Stevie many times and he delivered these tunes with such intensity it was hard to fathom!
I believe Stevie would give his approval. Good work

My hatt's off to you. Closest thing I've heard in years...
Your vocal phrasing is on point man, Incredible. Always love your SRV covers.
You know that when Stevie heard this, he tipped his hat and smiled...Smokin' hot!
the best guitar performance ever period ........and it was effortless for SRV
Eu amo o SRV e nunca tinha visto alguém tocar as músicas dele como você. Perfeito.
Outstanding really captures the full spirit of SrV
Good lord almighty that floods the soul with energy!
Completely agree!!! The El Mocambo version of TF makes the hair on my arms and the back of my neck stand up every time I listen to it.
Stellar cover btw! Love it!!

You should book a small tour through Texas, I think you would absolutely kill it, obviously Texans would adore you. Maybe do something like Randy Hansen does but make it a SRV tribute.
Wow I didn't expect the Helix to sound THAT good! Awesome playing.
Dude you got the chops, it sounds insane you only need a black face fender amp and you’ll be there that’s the only thing your missing a tube amp 🔥🔥
I am just beginning my guitar learning journey today and SRV is the reason. Watching you inspires me even more and gives me a goal!
Crazy, magical, very talented musician!!! Thank you brother!!!
今日も1日が始まってこのプレー見て元気になった。
I can not beleave my ears a re hearing this ! Way to honor this legend
Stevie Ray Vaughan was one of the best blues guitarists in the world and you did an excellent job, I'm sure he would be proud.
I was listening to an SRV bootleg prior to this video automatically playing afterwards. I thought to myself, damn, Stevie sounds good as hell here. I go to look and it's Sean playing. Brilliant!

Hey bro. I think Steve Ray Vaughn is looking at you right now and thinking "That's cool." Thank you.
Great intensity without ever coming off the gas!
Awwwwww Come on Mann!!!!! Everyone knows you could do the guitar behind the back bit!
