Thanks so much for this video Marabeth. You give those of us who haven't got the confidence to experiment to do just that. Following your guidelines here, I'm going to do this with my tempera paint sticks to see how water and medium reacts with them. Thanks for the inspiration. 🏵
So glad to hear you’re going to try this with the TPS Debs-just jumping in a trying things has been so good for me to get over fears that I’ve had in the past about making mistakes or not knowing what I’m doing.
Thanks for taking the time to amass and share all the valuable information Marabeth -- I have gelatos and have hardly used them and you've inspired me to get them out! FYI one other tip I've seen is that they will move & blend much easier if the paper has been gesso-ed ❤
Now i know why tempera paints can be useful! For texture! Gelatos dont do it. But i love gelatos for their blending ability.. so easy to spread especially when water is applied. Thanks, marabeth, for another very helpful tutorial!
Thank you for your demonstration between these two products, as I was wondering about the gelatos, as they are more expensive than the paint sticks. Bless you
Unfortunately I’ve just broughtTempera paint sticks that are in your supply list before seeing this video…so it’s too late. I don’t have the money to buy the gelatos they very expensive in Australia. I hope the tempera paint sticks can be used. I haven’t seen enough of your work to know how to use them could you perhaps do a video on different ways to use them. Thanks in advance. Love yourwork 🙏💕
I googled this question and found that the gelatos are made of pigment, wax and oil. I couldn’t find any specific info about what is used to make the tempera paint sticks-maybe some sort of wax with pigment but so far haven’t found anything definitive.
Such an interesting video, thx for sharing ~ I too was wondering about the differences between tempera & gelato sticks quite a while ago! 🙏🏻🎨🖍️🖌️
Glad it was helpful! 😊
I bought my Gelatos
several years ago, and I love them. Thank you for this information video.
My pleasure, Anna!

So glad to hear it! Thanks for watching.
Thanks for taking the time to do this video, Marabeth... something else for my wish list!
Of course, Linda! I’m happy to share my experiments as I’ve learned so much from other artists doing the same.

You are so welcome! More than happy to share my findings 😊
Great information! Thanks so much for sharing. I have gelatos I haven’t used for a bit so I will be pulling them out.

There’s so many different supplies-my best advice is to just play and experiment. I mainly use them for mark making, bold pops of color.
Thank you for answering all the questions that occurred to me while watching the first video. Another thing I have to try, it's an addiction.
Yes, I totally understand! I want to try all the things.
so are tempera paint sticks actually made from egg like 'tempera paint' is .. and therefore natural ? I wonder what the gelato sticks are made of.

@@marabethquinart thanks Marabeth. It can be so hard to find out ingredients of art supplies cant it.
I know, it can!
