I love this! The soprano sounds great (- guitar too). I think the original Riverdance theme was played on soprano sax by Gerard McChrystal - I could be wrong. Just transcribed the soprano part so I can play along but can't hear the guitar well enough to transcribe it. Nice Mk VI.
Hi Kirsty. There is a 'Riverdance' official sheet music book. Its for voice/ violin/ Guitar/ piano, all mixed, usually just two voices. We just arranged it for this version
As a saxophone player--phenomenal! Great tone on the soprano and I love how you make it sound a bit different...very Celtic. The articulation fits the piece so well...possibly even better than the original!
@Goldie450 its a Lowden Guitar not an Avalon. Im just plugged straight into the interface, added a touch of reverb & thats it, I would like to do it again with the guitar mic'd, I think you would get a much fuller sound, maybe in the near future.
Okay. I'll be honest. When I first saw the title and saw "Soprano Sax" I was a little bit skeptical (trumpet player blood, sorry.) This blew me away. Absolutely fantastic, both of you are fantastic musicians and perform with brilliance. Brava.
Soo fitting for Irish music, the soprano saxophone. I Thought so since Riverdance, Lord of the dance & Feet of Flames later on. It really sounds like a pipe chanter or something! I mean it's got the reed in common, that's it I gues. Lol. Similar but oviousky different; maybe a little cleaner and crisper sound than the pipes. And that's nothing against the pipes - absolutely not. I adore the wildness of uilleann pipes, the melancholy qualities even in the dance tunes...
This was great. An awesome set of tunes that doesn't get enough love from trad players, because they tend to feel - wrongly- that tunes from Riverdance are beneath them, or arn't part of the 'tradition', whatever that means...
Just watched this again. The Thatchers cider, an evening with friends and topped with Sarah a n Charlie. One word. Enchanting.
Fantastic you two! I love the look of “we did it!” At the end of the piece. The sheer joy! 🤩
