As soon as panel makers discovered the growing use of panels in gardens, they have been hiking prices-just like a lot of other products/food. Sad!😒🙄☹️

Suggestion: reattach the cattle panels further up the t-posts, so the arch is a few feet higher and when you get the hanging fruits later in the season you can still get the mower through without destroying your harvest.
    Looking great!!!

I grow hops as food. By growing the bines in large pots, I limit the size to about 15 feet. The young spring shoots and baby leaves are good as a cooked vegetable. I usually eat them in scrambled eggs or wherever you would like a pleasantly bitter taste (like endive). The shoots make an excellent pickle. I also gather the excess rhizomes for cooking. They taste sweet like cooked carrots. The strobiles can of course be used for brewing or to make medicinal tea. Enjoy!

Ben, those panel will look so beautiful with hops covering them. I grew a hops plant, just to see if I could in the desert. It was a perfect screen for part of our yard. Then our dogs discovered it & liked to run in it. Come to find out I’m highly allergic to it 🥴😡 so we put wire around it & it grows over the lattice work 🤩

My mind always goes down a rabbit hole when I start thinking about things like how crazy high prices have gone up in the last 3 years. I remember my father talking about a bushel (not half bushel!) of peppers selling for 25 cents back when he was growing up on the farm about 1930+. And I have often thought about gas (33 cents a gallon in late 60’s-early 70’s) and bread 20 cents a loaf early 60’s. I also remember how horrified people were when those prices started going up and there was talk of both getting up to a dollar. Everyone complained and said what was the world coming to and how were we supposed to survive with those prices. And yet even before the current madness of costs, everything was way beyond a dollar a gallon and loaf. My rabbit hole mind thinks the significant difference is the extreme speed of the rise compared to earlier increases with the exception of gasoline and oil products which was a huge thing due to “supply shortages” and people having to wait in long lines and only being able to buy gas every other day depending on your license number being odd or even. I think that was probably before you were both born so not in your life experiences just like the rationing of WW II was before I was born. I think there’s a quote saying “there’s nothing new in the world” and the longer I live, the truer that seems to be.

I grew my peas and then climbing beans up them which was great The snow smashed them down in January so I propped them up again with a stake but need to find a better type of stake now that growing season is here. Prices are unbelievable, I’ve been trying to be as independent as possible when it comes to the garden. With seeds, soil, fertilizer, ect. I think the powers that shouldn’t be have noticed a big movement of people wanting to grow gardens and when I went to a garden store to apply for a job, I noticed the plant starts were extremely expensive. I think it was 2 or 3 cubic feet of organic soil for 10 bucks a bag! I needed ten and I said the heck with that, glad I made a compost pile to sit over the winter last fall(it’s not the best but it’ll do, it’s got lots of worms in it). My point is....people who want to get their feet wet in gardening will be discouraged when they see the prices and not want to deal with it. I enjoy watching you all and learning from y’all. Y’all have a blessed day!

I love your videos. I look forward Tuesday-Friday to watch them. I missed this one yesterday cause we had garden stuff to get done. I get so excited to watch them while I make dinner. You guys are awesome!
