That police light bar on the chrome tree is a holdover from the old original issue MPC "Squad Rod' '79 nova kit. Great build sir, I've already placed my order for one.
I’m really looking forward to building this kit as my next project. Mine will be a drag car with a flat black automotive primer finish, cowl induction hood, interior with a 6 point cage & aftermarket tires & rims. Nice job on this kit. I love the beater look!
Now I know where I've seen this kit before! Given the police lights, this is probably the one issued as the "Squad Rod Nova" in the early 1980s because if I remember correctly you could do it as the customized police car or a regular street machine. It seems like they thought of everything with this decal sheet. The lights are a nice touch because it is very hard to get molded in chrome headlights to look realistic, and I don't think I've ever seen such comprehensive dashboard decals either. I always enjoy seeing these models in a less than pristine state and the back stories you come up with.
Hmm better than expected! Also, I never saw those tires in any other R2 kit before; I sure hope to see those Big N Littles as a parts pack soon! They look sweet!!!!
Back in the early 90's I purchased a 1976 Nova from my older cousin for $600 bucks. It was a 4 door with an inline six-cylinder and it was green with green pleather interior. I loved that car! Thanks for another great build. I'll be ordering this MPC kit once it's available.
seeing the level of detail kits like this have gives me a whole lot of hope for the quality of kits Round2 will be putting out in the future, heck of a lot better than what came out in the 90s and early 2000s
Nice kit for some serious kit bashing.... A big block maybe with a tunnel ram from the '67 chevelle pro street kit and the box scoop from the '66 pro street kit.. The headers from the chevelle pro street kit should fit without any problems... The possibilities are endless.... 🤔🙂👍
Another excellent video, love the way you build 'em,unfortunately we can't get a lot of these kits in the UK, shipping from the US can sometimes cost as much as the kit.
Cool build, better back story. Might want to make the middle of the hood look burnt though. The carbs look like Holley Dominators and soon as your boy flogged the pedal on a stock, single exhaust motor, l guarantee a huge backfire is forthcoming. Stomp...Bang...Oh s>
Great Vid !! I will be grabbing one. Do have a question….. you usually “dull coat” your chrome, can you use Tamiya flat clear or does have to be enamel ? Thanks
Love watching your vids. You got me into a very addictive hobby. I know most of your builds are out of the box components, but would love to see attempt the build I'm struggling with. 1994 Chevy s10 with 15x6 front runners, 15x12 rear slicks and a small block Chevy. I've got the rear frame and axle shortened, but am struggling trying to figure out how to get the V8 to fit.
i had a 1976 buick skylark same body style i bought from my grand father in 1982 it had a 350 v8 and buick wild cat rims maroon paint black interior a lot classier then the nova by fara better car
I always liked the fact that MPC tried to pass off a Pontiac engine as a Chevy. I'll save that and find a proper Chevy engine. Great to see this kit back.
Nice build. My parents owed a nova it was our family. It was even more boring than the kit you built. The color was like a mustard gold with white interior, I think it was a 1975.
Not really sure the manufacturers so much gave up as gave in. Smooth, featureless, bland lack of anything interesting or unique was "Euro-styling" even though it was mostly on Asian imports, and people bought it. Anything that wasn't Honda-bland was "excessive". As a kid it infuriated me. Then you add the government meddling incompetence and I can see why the "why bother" attitude took over.
Love the story it gives the build a real life
My first car in mid 90's when I was in HS!
Another great story to the build 👍
I like the fact that it's a hatchback version Nova!
GREAT video Chris keep em coming and I'll keep watching
Nice back story Chris! Green has to be your favorite color!
That police light bar on the chrome tree is a holdover from the old original issue MPC "Squad Rod' '79 nova kit. Great build sir, I've already placed my order for one.
Looks great Chris. The weathing looks good also.
Very nice build. Good color choices. Very nice use of the craft to weather the body. Thanks for sharing.
Just saw your final build; great as always, but man, those new wheels and tires, they just make the car! The stance is perfect!!!
Great job by MPC. That is a great story line too,Chris. She bad, she bad.

This kit use yo be the squad rod nova back in 1980's. I still have one in my stash.
It's been repoped since then
Used Novas - America's go to budget "Hot Rod".
Nice back story.
Very nice build.
Thanks, Chris - I'm a hpiguy today...

Fun build! Looking forward to getting one myself! I'm thinking a 3d printed straight six!
Have a few on order! Can't wait!
Looking forward to getting that kit!! 👍 😉

I think I’ll be adding this kit to my stash, I had a ‘77 for a few years, close enough!
I've been waiting years for a reissue of this kid. I've had several of them and love this kit, awesome video and thanks round 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😁😁😁😁😁😁
Me too!
Thanks for the build, nice looking car.
That was a fun build of the '79 Nova Chris! Love what you did with it and the story behind it 👍

Chris This Was Previously Released As "Squad Rod" Nova Patrol Car
Gotta get this 1.
I think there was a Pontiac version released. Many thanx Chris 👍👍
Lovely build. I always enjoy seeing what color spray paints you use in your videos.
your story or backstories are hilarious at times..!! As you tell them I am sitting here envisioning them. hahaha
My first car and no I don't miss it
Looks great the way you did it
seeing the level of detail kits like this have gives me a whole lot of hope for the quality of kits Round2 will be putting out in the future, heck of a lot better than what came out in the 90s and early 2000s
I want one I can't wait for it
I want this kit so bad. My first car was a 77. The guy who sold it to me also had a 79. I can't wait to get my hands on it.
Hopefully they'll do a Ventura variant of this kit in the future, something that hasn't been available for a very very long time.
Great build Chris,..gonna pick up this kit for sure
This is a really nice video Chris! Totally dig the back story, very creative! I'm going to place my back order soon.
Owned many different makes and models but Novas were my favorite.. I had 2 1976 red on plaid 1 305 v8 and 1 250 st 6.
Very nice Christopher
Excellent build, I had a '75 with mods ,car was dead reliable, and faster than it should have been, btw that was in Roswell N.M.
Nice kit for some serious kit bashing....

If you want to do that to it just buy the The Squad Rod it's already a tubbed drag car just ad the big block
He’s running Holley dominators, sweet when it backfires and burns the scoop

The engine in the kit is actually a Pontiac; the kit was created from the 76 Pontiac Ventura tooling.
I would like to see this as a stock car. It's about all they were good for .
I need to find a 76 Ventura nose for one of those...build a replica of one I had in HS in the 90's.
That model can rotate the front wheels?
Should be bringing out a modified stocker version of this one
When are they going to come out with the 73 through 77 Chevy Malibu classic two door?
(I want it!) x infinity 🤓👍
Great Vid !! I will be grabbing one. Do have a question….. you usually “dull coat” your chrome, can you use Tamiya flat clear or does have to be enamel ? Thanks
I'm nor sure to be honest. I've only used the Rustoleum for that process as it reacts really well with the Tamiya black wash for a great steel effect.

Those valve covers were definitely from jc Whitney and they took a month to come in the mail cod.
What are those fine-tip marker pens that you are using in your builds, Chris?
He uses a mixture of sharpie, and molotow brands.
I want 2 of them please
i had a 1976 buick skylark same body style i bought from my grand father in 1982 it had a 350 v8 and buick wild cat rims maroon paint black interior a lot classier then the nova by fara better car
hey Chris, How come you use different company primers on different builds??
Anyone know if the body fits the 90’s AMT nascar kits,
I always liked the fact that MPC tried to pass off a Pontiac engine as a Chevy. I'll save that and find a proper Chevy engine. Great to see this kit back.
What ruined the looks of most cars around this time were those fed mandated bumpers.
Nice build. My parents owed a nova it was our family. It was even more boring than the kit you built. The color was like a mustard gold with white interior, I think it was a 1975.
It doesn't really look faded. It looks like someone is in the process of hand-waxing it and hasn't started buffing yet.
Yeah ,you have to watch out for those meth heads stealing your catalytic converters.🤣🤣🤣

How does he know if its a guy working on it. It could be a girl.
LOL, because it's a story I made up for my model.
If you want it to be a woman when you make up your story, make it a woman.
