- some warded locks or lever tumblers lock type has some "window of oppurtunity" (as i call it).. and from this window we can exploit the chance in opening this lock if key is missing.

Just freed my bedroom door using this technique. Lock was stuck. Wouldn’t open with the key, even after I’d added graphite. So drilled a hole, and used the key instead of a tension wrench, and inserted a screwdriver in the hole. After a few seconds they key was turning fully in both directions. Thanks 👍

Most USA lever locks lack this 'window', and many here also do not have slotted levers (or will have only one) to defend against over-lifting, so picking this type here is just one small step tougher than picking a true warded-only lock. And most of ours can be worked with a set of cheap 'skeleton keys' as we never went to complex warding.
Mr. P RO That seems to be a very very old lock you are talking about there in the U.S. or those ones that are installed in a non security essential area.
@@yononable This type of lock fell out of use for exterior doors here starting around 1900 and around 1920 weren't even used on cheap homes anymore. They did continue on interior doors for a few decades thereafter, but were all gone after WW2. We had these both mortised in and surface mounted (called "Rim locks" when surface mounted).
Knowing these locks and how doors were made differently through the years helps me put a build date the old houses I work on for a living. Pin tumbler cylinder locks took over early here, so lever locks were not as fully developed as happened over there. Nice video and nice to see how things are done over there.
This helped me to unlock a door in Jamaica 🇯🇲 The setup was slightly different but the similarity in concept did the trick! Thanks for the vid👍
I used your method and it worked, thank you very much. Only the small window was a little higher than in the video, I had to make a bigger hole.
Just managed to lock myself in my bedroom. NO tools! Was an incorrect key and will not open again.
Found a Stanley blade in the side table drawer. Managed to undo 4 screws on the cover plate with it. Measured your recommended 1" and carved a 1/4" hole
Widened the hole to allow the width of the stanley blade into the 'window' and lift 2 levers.

one tooth broke off lock & it's not an important room so am I able to re lock it usin this method by turning the lever the opposite way until I can afford a new lock? thanx

Technically speaking, isn't this still picking, but facilitated picking in that the tumblers are lifted and the bolt is moved through separate holes?
picking is quite near to describe it...but then, "picking a lock" is lifting the pins or tumblers one by one to its shearline..where in this method(i am showing) is that i lifted a stack of tumblers to its gatings at one time..and drive the deadbolt fence passes thru.
I have a similar look but lost the keys, i manage to open it in the past through a hex key and a pair of tongue, but i was pure luck and trying do you have any ideas how to open it again strategic?
hi real madrid...i think that the lock you encounter has just having 2 wafer plates, since i wont advise you to open the unit, (because that spring in the handle will really cause a trouble if dismantled) what i can say is.. try that tools again that you used..WHILE THE DOOR IS OPEN.. if it unlocks again, you will build that confidence and familiarity of that subject lock. thanks for watching.

Can I get the dimension of the tension wrench (the length of each bends)?
yeah sure, the "hook"(thats the tip)is 1 inch. , and the bend for the depth, is 2 inches. and the "handle" in my case..is 4 inches. but you can make the handle shorter if you wish.thanks for watching SeAL 65

hi Maryem,, no..that tension tool is the one that will drive the bolt to unlock. . it should not be totally the same with what i've shown here, its either a bented 3mm wire , (a bit square at the end) just to drive that bolt inward..thanks for watching.

mr Babu, with your neighbor situation..it is wise to call a locksmith. cause without basic technicality and tools, you will end up breaking the lock and probably the door. so spend some..and maybe save some. regards.

hi aryan.. i can only recommend one practical way..if door is still lock..call a locksmith, if you were unable to open the door..and let him install the new lock.. or if the door is open (already)take the handle out first. there is a small screw or an allen screw in the lever part of the handle. once that is out, the lever handle can be easily pulled out, and the next is simple.

try to improvise, i"ll give you a little idea. a wire coathanger bend 1" from the tip as tension.. a 1/4" philip screw driver as a drillbit, and a tiny knife.as a lifter. Goodluck bro.
