      She wasn't reprogrammed at all. She talked the angelic guards into freeing her so she could kill Sam. She always had a strong sense of self preservation and selfishness, even as a human. Her own desires and needs, not selflessness. She didn't understand what it meant to be human after all. Just losing a human sense of emotional empathy doesn't make you outright change as a person, you just lose insight.

      Thats the thing with angels in this series, most see themselves as higher that them, when in fact they arent, a human's soul is stronger than an angel itself in this series.

    You know, I don't understand why some people are giving Cas so much hate for Anna's capture. I mean, sure he did turn her in, but no one seems to remember the fact that Castiel was literally ripped out of his vessel and tortured as well when he was going to help Dean in the Rapture, which is why he betrayed Sam, Dean, and even Anna in season 4, because he was hurt and afraid of his superiors. Castiel even says that no one gets out of Heaven's prison with out getting let out. How does he know that? Personal experience, because he was captured too. I mean, he was dragged back to Bible Camp as Dean says and then came back and said: "I learned my lesson while I was away..." that implies torture. And yet some people seem to forget that and only sympathize with Anna even though Heaven hurt Cas too.

    • @fireangeldragon4588
      @fireangeldragon4588 9 лет назад +4

      +dannie lawman Sorry, but I don't agree with you. One thing I don't understand is how Anna was ever Castiel's superior. I know they mention it on the show, but from everything I have seen about the strength of the characters, Castiel is far stronger than Anna ever was. Plus, they never even MENTION her after her death as if she really had no influence on him at all. The idea of Anna knowing more tricks doesn't make any sense considering how much Castiel knows about his kind as is shown in other episodes in later seasons. Plus he has apparently replaced her, so even if there was a slim possibility she knew more, don't you think that since he was assuming command, they would have taught it all to him so he could be the best leader he could be? Personally, I believe Anna dug her own grave and Castiel can't be blamed for it. She chose to Fall, to abandon her family and hide rather than ACTUALLY doing something to stop what was going on. She took the coward's way out for her own selfish desires. It wasn't even like what Gabriel did where he couldn't stand the idea of watching his family kill each other. She Fell because she wanted to be free of her responsibilities. Also when have the angels managed to escape? Look at Gadreel; he was in jail for how long? And they can't use banishing sigils in Heaven, because the banishing sigils send them back to HEAVEN. And on top of it if she was acting on her own rather than under orders, that only makes me detest her in this episode even more. And she never really contributed to helping stop the apocalypse until she tried to kill Mary and John in this episode. All she did was try to influence Castiel into stopping in. She didn't want to get her hands dirty, so she manipulated her brother. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad Cas went over to Sam and Dean's side, but the way Anna did it was wrong. She used him, knowing that he could easily have gotten dragged back to Heaven as he did for going against Heaven. It's karma that she was taken back too. She made a selfish decision to rip out her grace on purpose, it's not like it was stolen from her or anything, and she paid for it. Plus, another reason Castiel might have given her over could have been more than fear, but maybe even a bit of mind control that he wasn't aware of, like the mind control he underwent all throughout season eight, and according to Naomi, most of his life whenever he was given orders. I don't care what you say to me in Anna's defense, but I can't sympathize with her. I found her annoying in her first few episodes, starting thinking she was sort of cool after she became and angel again, and then hated her because of this episode.

    • @Carinthium
      @Carinthium 7 лет назад +4

      Here is my two cents on this:
      -From a Season 8 perspective, the theory is Naomi (or if you don't see Season 8 as being canon any more, an anonymous force in Heaven) wanted to stop the Apocalypse but Michael didn't know it.
      -Thanks to the effect of torture both Castiel and probably Anna should be said to be acting under so much psychological duress they can't be blamed for their actions.
      -If the angels determined superiority based on fighting power, they never would have been willing to demote Castiel. Anna presumably had other skills Castiel didn't. Maybe Castiel has caught up in leadership skills too, but we can't know that because we never saw how Anna led.
      -We've seen Anna's perspective on this. Given the sort of things Heaven has actually done in the Supernatural series, I don't think they can be called just or right in any way. Her motives might have been selfish, but it is doubtful she can be said to have true moral responsibilities to such a group.
      -Selfish or not, Anna was right in what she said to Castiel to try and persuade him.

  • @ChaiSpiceOwl
    @ChaiSpiceOwl 12 лет назад +45

    I think a lot of people forget how much of a jerk Cas was when he first got back from "Bible Camp." Whatever torture the angels use on each other seems to be a great motivator in the the "Don't care about anyone, anymore" department.

    Hmm, I think the ones to blame are the "superior angels" who exercise these punishments on disobedient members. They tried to drag both Anna and Castiel to their side, and the reason Anna died was because she felt too attached to Heaven's belief while Castiel had Dean or something to keep him from going against humanity. This is really just an opinion.

    Even if Sam was taken out of picture, there still would have been a final showdown between Lucifer and Michael. I can understand Anna's plan and desperation but in the end it was short-sighted. It wouldn't have ended anything. Just prolonged the final showdown. The only real way it could end was if Michael and Lucifer were taken out of the picture.

    That was so stupid how they killed off Anna in this episode. Her going total bitchanator on the boys just didn't even fit with her characterization up to that point. One she, outside Cas, was one of the only angels that cared about them. Castiel was only able to find and attack her after she drew attention to herself by talking about hearing the apocalypse news over "angel radio", which wasn't active until Dean broke the first seal. @KillaD15 Anna knew how close Sam and Dean were and how Dean would feel if Sam died and it was pretty obvious in a few episodes from S4 that she had feelings for Dean so that should've at least caused some kind of emotional reaction from either of them. Yet there was none. Her whole write off was unbelievably stupid and poorly written in my opinion. If they were gonna kill her off they should've made her more heroic like her dying while trying to save them or something.
