The angels were barely on Earth or Hell before Season 4, with the exception of Gabriel the Archangel, and they never actively fought demons or Hell.

Ah yes, but Anna was graceless at the time, so she could probably feel it :) I like to think angels don't get quite as much out of sex with humans as other humans do, but it's a sort of weird but mildly pleasant experience for them. And yeah I know! I suppose a vessel would be slightly less conscious than, say, a demon's body, but hey they probably do catch a glimpse now and then!
