I’m gonna make my own adobo. Thanks for sharing this recipe. I will make sure to purchase just organic. My wife and I have changed our diets and we look better than ever. Along with some exercise in our home gym 😅😅😅
Thats great! yeah a lot of people don't realize how much better you feel and look when you start cooking more from scratch and with fewer premade ingredients. Keep it up!
From a cooker, im from the dominican republic and i cook a lot in my house, dont use anything goya, no goya at all. What we use in the Caribbean to cook naturally crush garlic, himalaya salt, oregano and the regular vegetable. Now you use goya because of color well we use paprika which is a natural red pepper power that gives a nice natural color
I over did it on Goya the other day and food came out salty as shit (because of course would). Throwing that shit away and not adding salt to the mix I’m gonna make with this, just gonna add as needed. Thanks brother.
MSG is not bad for you in normal uses. Seriously. It was a thing in the 1990’s. The tests that were done were for an extreme amount of exposure daily. The Sazón packets are small negligible amounts even used daily for decades. It’s ridiculous what has happened over the MSG debacle. The MSG also has very little sodium and the glutamate aspect that provides the special umami flavor ( also found in shiitake mushrooms, BRAGGS liquid seasoning soy sauce etc) helps reduce sodium intake in the dish as you need very little salt with anything with MSG. So really you are very well behind the research. It was a 1990’s study that was reinterpreted for the masses mainly to expose “Chinese restaurant syndrome”. But those restaurants use WAY more than any Sazón packet could ever pack. As far as the Adobo it’s just a salt based season salt. So re research.
You seem triggered off of something I never said. My issue is with additives that severely alter how our food tastes and cause us to crave the wrong things. Added msg does this along with making us crave, heavily salted foods. You dont need to add so much of these things to make food taste good. It's doing more harm to our communities than good. But if you enjoy sazon and added msg, don't let me stop you from using it. Im not here to force anyone to do anything. I am here to provide options to those who care about their health
@@proartwork7189 what an idiotic comment, plus racist since the anti-MSG movement was created to damge the image of asian restaurants, read a little be about it and don't be ignorant
I honestly think the unhealthy living comes more from all the fat, salt and high carbs in a Puerto Rican’s diet more than the MSG, foods have contained high sodium and glutamate for 1000’s of years, both naturally being found in the body, all about moderation and how it’s used, I enjoy food too much to try and substitute the umami provided, my personal opinion.
It's the combination of everything. What's wrong with finding natural alternatives to something that is used to make people addicted to using more of it? In this case, that's the problem with adding MSG to your food. It rewires your brain/cravings to want more salty/fatty foods which influences a persons lifestyle choices when it comes to food and makes real food taste "bland".
@@AboutThisMuch ohh I didn’t say anything was wrong once in my comments if you check, by all means do your thing, I clicked the video in interest not in spite. But I personally am not going to stop myself from enjoying a hotdog at a ball game because of the nitrates in the dog, or yellow 5 in the mustard, I also won’t eat one for lunch every day, or keep myself from store sazon from a dish I may cook twice a month max. And this is me speaking objectively bro, I tried this recipe out on some pollo guisada and if the msg is what I’m craving then so be it if it changes something from being a chicken potato soup to a guisado for me.
@@jtaheri223 Gotcha. Wasn't sure, some people have gotten triggered when mentioning goya products and the added MSG lol. Do you, man. I'm not here to force anyone to do anything. Just here to offer alternatives for those who are interested while helping to educate people a little more on what most of us were brought up eating and never learned natural, less harmful ways to get good tasting food. If you feel it's lacking the MSG, flavor (aka Umami Taste) did you try adding the Umami Seasoning i mentioned? It's made from mushroom powder and I am seeing it in more grocery stores. There are others ways to get natural MSG taste into your food as well that won't mess with your taste buds as much. You can add some tomoato or al little bit of vinegar. Those have the exact same taste bud flavor profile. Just have to find the right balance of what tastes good to you. Good luck

impossible to imitate what gives adobo its great taste is the second ingredients which you didn't included, i even bought an organic imitation, had to go back to adobo
Stop messing up your health, most adobo specially the red one has something called ajinomoto which is really bad for your health. When season just do crush garlic oregano pepper and salt thats all you need, for me to use garlic powder which is processed i rather crush couple of garlic and boom natural
If you can't taste turmeric you have no business cooking because it's so easy to overuse. You should also grind up your finished seasonings your making, esp the adobo season. A cheap coffee grinder is all that is needed.
Is that so? Sazon was invented in the 1960's. Caribbean culture and food predates that. Unless you're suggesting that no one in the caribbean seasoned their food before the 60's lol I personally stopped using all premixed seasonings years ago because you can get much better flavor when you take the time to understand why you are adding each spice. But you're free to eat salty food coloring if you feel so attached to it. Don't let me stop you
Boycotting a brand because you don't like their message is a dumb reason? lol, tell that to the hundreds of thousands who feel that way. Badia is an alternative, but if your goal is healthier seasonings, Badia is loaded with artificial colors and some of their products contain msg
@@AboutThisMuch msg isn’t dangerous it gives off the umami and savory flavor (hence why sazon is so good) but i understand if someone is trying to reduce sodium intake
@@alex_m1688 Correct, MSG itself isn't harmful when consumed in balanced diets, but it's often overused in foods that aren't the best for us which can distort how your taste buds taste other foods. I am offering alternatives for those who prioritize eating wholefoods and knowing exactly what goes into their seasonings and bodies. I offered alternatives to achieving the umami taste naturally without synthetic ingredients. Sazon also contains MSG, Yellow 5 Anti Caking agents and Red 40. So I personally would say there's a lot more to worry about than just sodium
Thank you so much for the ingredients. I really really appreciate it. God bless.🙏🏼😊
Definitely prepping my own I will hold off on the salts as well.

Thanks for making this video!! I've been thinking about how to make adobo seasoning at home. Great video!
Love this recipe, thanks. Would love to see a recipe for sason with cilantro & achiote if you have it.

Haha, yeah Goya Adobo really just tastes like pure salt lol. I hope you like this version. You can add as much salt as you need while cooking
LOL I KNOW WHO MIGHT NOT LIKE MORE FLAVOR

Accent is all that's needed for any MSG if someone wants to use this in their copy cat.
You are probably sponsored by Goya in a PR firm somewhere! To say MSG is ok in small amount is to say cocaine is ok in small amount.
@@proartwork7189 what? Msg is harmless. It's the additives that are proven carcinogens that are the problem.
