Can anyone remember this legend when he was known as "LegoJang" and he would make all those hero factory mocs? My my how far he has come Looking forward to seeing more of Jang city!
Hey Jang, I love the idea of more 'greenage' in the city. It would be great if you could do a short video in your MOC workshop showing us how you create different types of brick-built foliage. I like the idea of a monorail around the zoo too. It definitely plays to your strengths! You're right to be concerned that it is a 'zoo with a monorail' rather than the monorail becoming the main feature, but I trust you'll get the balance right. Thanks for the update, Percy
Hi Jang . Consider a small waterfall on the “ mountain hot side” creating a small stream that goes inside the zoo and under the train track at the end of the table
The railyard is missing a stack of spare rails and a disused siding overgrown with plants. Also maybe some small plants even in the used sidings, and some dark patches for oil drips. These should help liven up that area.
I remember watching your city reviews when I was younger and remember I loved it, now that I’m a little bit older I find it so cool how I still find your city videos so cool! Thank you for everything!
I think what makes the railyard greenery look a little odd in my opinion is, that the palnts look very arid, almost desert like, whereas the soil looks saturated with water and wet due to it`s darkbrown color. What I think might help is to adjust the vegitation to something more humid or to change the soil color to something lighter like dark tan mixed with some gravel.
Thank you for letting me live out my childhood dreams of a Lego city of this scale vicariously through your videos. You do a great job of covering everything throughout the incremental updates but there's always something super interesting in the background that is covered in a past video that might be tough to find. Having said that this is my dream JANG Lego video: An occasional city-wide overview. Even only annually or even less frequent, just some sort of catch-all video to get to see the whole city. Something like a slow fly by even if it isn't narrated would be so cool to see.
Really excited to see the future of the city. My one comment would be on the train yard foliage. I'd encourage you to add more olive green foliage as apposed to other colors. Olive green is a good pop of color, while also looking "drab." Being in an industrial area, I think olive green would work well.
Love the city, and love that we'll be getting more updates on this new channel! What if the zoo monorail traveled to a nocturnal and/or arctic animal exhibit under the planetary defense force that you could illuminate with LEDs? You might also have space for monorail maintenance too.
I used to watch the city updates when I was super into legos back in middle school and now I’m in the middle of college and getting back into legos, it’s nice to see the city still going, it’s just as incredible as I remembered it when I was younger! Very inspiring
I’d be real interested to see the process of making the new hole. I’ve been watching your other channel for a couple years and watched you build the mountain. Can’t be an easy task to make the hole. Best of luck and I’m so excited about this new channel. Love your city!
YES! More trains and custom stuff is awesome! Love your city updates (especially trains) and think that more foliage is a great idea. Your city is why I first started watching your channel.
I like the ideas a lot - I think when AFOLs make landscaping as realistic as possible/ add greenery, it really helps to enhance their cities as a whole. Looking forward to following along! Just subbed 😁
Love the ‘greenage’, I love the direction your city is taking. Also looking forward to seeing the new zoo with the monorail (when it eventually built).
My local zoo growing up, the Minnesota Zoo, had a monorail over the entire zoo that has since been inactive, so I'm getting some nostalgia hearing about your ideas
man i use to watch this guy all the time about 5-6 years ago and i have a job and everything now but i still check in on the city because it’s awesome 😂
Interesting idea with the mono-rail being a sort of ride in the zoo. However, I personally would skip the mono-rail. I would use the empty space between the track and back of the zoo to make a trainstation. Maybe remove the current road to the entrance and make a walkway from the current mainroad alongside the track with the fire engine all the way to the track on the edge of the table (with the new station). And put the entrance to the zoo there. That way the zoo can also become a lot bigger: from the tracks on the edge of the table to the main road. An added bonus outside of another train station, would be that the trains would have to go from one loop to the other, making the train rides longer. And you can imagine people getting on the train at the main station, travelling around the city and getting off at the zoo. But I just love trains riding around and having multiple, logical stations for trains. Still, a monorail for a zoo ride is also nice. Oh, and more foliage is nice. Look forward to seeing how that will look :D
What I like about your Lego land is that it's more open and spacious and not clustered like others do especially with European style buildings. With this it easy for the audience to follow and differentiate each section easily
Enjoying the new channel on your city! What popped into my mind when you mentioned the monorail going into a tunnel was if you wanted a bat/nocturnal animal part of the zoo, that would give you the option to do it under the mountain and free up more space for the zoo outside so you could have more animals. Excited to see your ideas for it come together!
A suggestion for your zoo monorail, At Sea world in Australia there was a ride that went inside a mountain, you could do something similar here and have a zoo related ride that goes into the mountain 🤷🏻♂️
Starting a Saturday with a city update is pretty perfect, and just gets sweeter when it is about the zoo and a monorail for the minifgs to see the zoo! It's gonna be a good day:) It is also interesting to hear about the climate in the city and how it affects the "greenage". The tracks do look better with plant life you put there cause in real life there are always bits and pieces of kind of scrubby plant life around tracks. I also loved seeing that 6x6 hollow tree stump so much in this video as it is one of my favourite parts that takes me right back to playing with Lego with my son. All your ideas for this area of the city sound fantastic. Good luck with the monorail planning!
I love the idea of the Zoo Train! I’m also seriously mind blown by your attention to the climate detail of your city, that’s awesome! I definitely think more green in the city is a good idea!
I agree about adding more lush foliage to the mountain. A good bit of inspiration are the mountains in Hawaii, especially Kualoa ranch where a ton of movies are filmed; those mountains are solid green, and in the “corners” like you speak of here, there are actually hundreds of small waterfalls that form when it rains, could be cool to add that here as well. Not sure about the monorail, I worry that too many tracks will take away the visual impacts the zoo has in that part of the city- will have to see how it looks once you start building.
The monorail coming out of a new tunnel as you mentioned and then spiraling around the zoo and then running along supports on the cliff face and ending on top and perpendicular to the existing tunnel entrance might be really cool. Excited to watch the new channel!
Oh man, I would dread having to take apart that side of the mountain to put in a hole there to run a monorail. The time and effort you will put into that is something!
I really like that the city is going to get greener. Having much greenery was one of the design focus points of my city before the first brick was put in there. I also try to incorporate many balconies and roof top gardens wherever possible. Here in Germany most PaB walls reopened this week (most LEGO stores did not have them anymore before) and they have the small olive green leave elements (2423) and grass stems (15279) available there now. That will probably be the case in the US as well, when stores and PaB walls reopen one day. Maybe that's also relevant for you in planning what plant parts you are going to order for what price or not.
I am so exited about your idea of implementing a zoo train surrounding the zoo. Make me recalling my childhood experience of having a slow train ride to interact with animals. Can't wait to see the outcome of your renovation!
For the empty spaces, could possibly add some power boxes/utility boxes, areas where workers can work on parts of the train yard, just things I’ve seen in train yards around me. Great to see these new updates on this channel and the foliage is definitely a good way to go 👍
Hey Jang! I've been a huge fan of yours for many years and every single time I see your layout I think my heads gonna explode from over stimulation! I'm a huge fan of the new channel and can't wait to see what magic you bring to life in your Lego world! Stay safe and thank you for the years of great entertainment!
As a geography person, I think it's pretty cool that there's the suggestion of orographic lift taking place on the hill. Under geographic conditions such as these, when there's a hill near a body of water, the wind blows the moisture from that body of water up the slope. The moisture is adiabatically cooled as it rises, causing the moisture to condense, resulting in fog. Big respect for implementing real-world science into the design of the city for that extra level of realism. I guess citizens of New Jang City would be accustomed to the regular occurrence of fog in areas around the hill.
I'm so glad you're re doing the zoo. I do realise it's only plastic, I promise, but... It's always concerned me how little space those animals have! Heh heh heh. Looking forward to seeing your progress.
Great to see the new channel up and running. Looking forward to the future builds. Also, really looking forward to the retrospective of NJC. Love your work Jang.
Great vid like always. Love the foliage idea. This is so random but at 4:20 when you showed the back side of the mountain that would get "fog" hence precipitation for greenery, IDKY but I like that spot a lot lol like a perfect corner spot for a hermits house. Not necessarily to add to the city but just saying how that seems like a good spot for a hiker to perch up and watch the trains go by. Seems peaceful in that corner
I worked for Union Pacific here in Chicago and I have to say your rail yard feels super real but if I could give a few suggestions of things I commonly saw at work? - Rails and metal debris for utility on the sides utility people are always moving material and leaving it around. -More “greenage” near your signals and growing between things to show age. some of our yards outside the city are over 80 years old. - Near your switch points place brooms. its VERY common to have “switch brooms” to sweep out switches. - electronic boxes. they are everywhere and I have no idea what they do haha. I was just a freight conductor. Nothing serious but if you wanted to get into both the “nitty” and the “gritty” detail some things like that would make that yard pop! cant wait for more ps i need to get my sig fig planned and my patron taken care of soon!
Hey Jang, I’ve watched this city progress for a long time, and every new vid is great to see its growth, but I would also like to suggest for the fire dept, a chiefs car and rescue truck, hope you use this suggestion and update the fire dept, since we haven’t seen anything to do it in so long, and can’t wait to see the next update.
This channel is really great news to me, since I love free Lego building much better than actually Lego models and my love to Lego city-building is even higher. And hearing that you're going to include monorail in the future just made my day, because I'm also a big fan of Austin & Pamela Henry-Biskup Lego creations and seeing a monorail somewhere always tells me... now I'm home ;-). Cheers!
Looking forward to the changes. I appreciate your thought process for determining where the most “greenage” 😀 would be, based on the microclimate. Zoo monorails bring back memories of visiting the Minnesota Zoo here in the late 70’s and 80’s!
Ah I thought that those monorail pieces were going to be used for arches for some more distinct architecture for the zoo. My zoo has a train that drives around it, so good on you 😉
Love the idea of considering the climate, relative to the terrain... in any story I read it's always very important for me to visualize those aspects. Also. The citizens of New Jang City are about to come down with a serious case of Mono... rail! "What's that name again? Monorail!" 👏👏👏
Great idea about the zoo and monorail! If you ever thought about a big aquarium as part of your zoo, it might be cool to incorporate the monorail line through the aquarium so figs could travel “through” the aquatic life on their journey around the zoo. That’s a pretty big project though for sure.
Hi Jang, great that your city gets its own channel and you can post mini updates and bounce ideas around for us all to see. Regarding your monorail, many Zoos and Safari Parks have them to allow patrons to look down into enclosures so it would be a fantastic inclusion. If you are concerned about space, then why not have it all elevated, putting the station on top of an enclosed exhibit, thus giving you more space at 'sea level' for your enclosures. Or build it into the mountain side. Just a thought and as you say it is your city.
Aww I love the idea of a monorail as I love going above the zoo/safari parks that I visit as it great to see it from that perspective as you see things you don’t from the ground xx 👍🏼
🚝 MONORAIL!! Lights and monorail are a slippery slope $$$ I can assure you. I’ve really been looking forward to new zoo! Never enough “greenage” in a LEGO City. My humble suggestion would be adding some subtle changes in landscape/elevation in open spaces. Nothing crazy, just a few plate layers here and there. I’ve tried to add more foliage via rooftop gardens in my city. Love the new channel! Keep up all the incredible work, it’s deeply appreciated 🙏🏻
Your new zoo that you want to remake was not what I expected you to do, with the monorail, which is a neat idea I think, I don't know how will make it work in the limited space, but I'm sure you'll figure it out. A little suggestion, on the side of the road in the green areas, you could add a little kiosque where someone is selling fruits and vegetables, not something overly big, but just a little structure with a van and a person waiting for people to stop on the side of the road to buy fresh fruit or even flowers, it's not something very complicated. Looking forward to new stuff in your city, Jang!
Great to see a channel dedicated to custom stuff, Jang!! 😎 I've got some ideas for your city: - Add scrapp metal or train parts that are broken arround the train yard. - After you remodel the Zoo add a kid being freaked out by the Behind the scenes cause' he saw an employee taking of his animal costume.
Be great to see the monorail go through the Aquarium exhibit but whatever you do with it, it'll be great to see it evolve. Congrats on the new channel.
Great to see more of the city and its MOCs in the future :) Monorail and plants sound good and I like how you tie these up with actual consideration of the terrain (fog for example). As you said you don't mind suggestions: For the square "access holes", have you considered to use them to create some building activity? Digging, pile-driving, excavation? Something that goes down from the normal level. I think if you use a corner, you'd still have enough space for you to use as an access, or make it removable. I think it would add more 3D feel to your city which would be quite unique (I think). Probably a rather obvious idea but wanted to mention it just in case :)
Hey Jang, where/what are you planning on doing regarding the fire station? Because you could move it across the road to empty space next to the second train station. This will give the firefighters access to the fire train and give you more space for your zoo.
I love the zoo train. Its realy cool how your zoo is the big attraction. While most people are doing the theme park thing. Its cool to see you do a different take on a big tourist attraction
Great idea, extra green areas on the slopes and open spaces would bring those areas to life and make them pop. May be the monorail could visit nocturnal animals in the cave zone of the zoo? Love your work and the new channel Jang.
Hello Jang, I was wondering if your new monorail idea could be set in a setting of the last remaining part of a 1980s system that was removed for most the city (and replaced with your elevated light rail for the city centre). So you could have a stub that sticks in towards the city but terminated somewhere a little bit unusual.
Nice to see a video about your city pop up in my feed, good to see a city specific video. About an idea for the monorailit might be beter to put the station of it at the end of the rail? Make it follow the normal rail from the mountian and turn right and follow the other one till the railroad crossing and make the station there. And make the monorail go behind/above the exibits there and give the illusion that it can be used to shuttle people to another part of the zoo that is inside the mountain?
The aquarium takes up SO much valuable space. An aquarium built into the "mountain" would be awesome. And maybe it could be co-owned by the marina next to it?
He had a temporary carnival in the city which included the ferris wheel and merry go round. You would just have to watch some of his older city videos to see it.
Love the idea of the monorail the zoo I used to go to as a kid had one. If you want to make it longer you could connect it to a passenger train station and make it go from their to the zoo entrance with track going through the zoo.
Your zoo monorail idea reminds me of the Sky Safari cable cars at Taronga Zoo in Sydney, brings back happy childhood memories of looking down at the animals :)
I am really excited about seeing your new and updated zoo, ecspecially with the little train! One thought about the expansion of the zoo up towards the mountain side: have you considered making the mountain side part of the zoo? The rocky cliffside itsepf could be a space for animals to life, which usualle life in the mountains. Of course it would have to be securly fenced off towards the street and the top of the mountain, but it would give you some space and an natural and friendly enviroment for some of the animals
Jang: Love the new channel! My first passion is building city (actually a seashore town. That you opened this new channel, I am very happy. Thanks for sharing!
For inspiration I would suggest looking at the Hershey Park monorail. It goes through Zoo America and shows a nice integration of a monorail with several different areas (factory, cargo train tracks, amusement park, residential area)
id like to recommend for the railroad in some of the open land areas are, cuts and burms. cut are areas where the RR goes straight through a hill or side of a mountain, and burms are where the land dips low, and you have to put dirt underneath the track.
It’s funny how tiny bits of detail can make something so much better

Yeah great idea
Hi Jang . Consider a small waterfall on the “ mountain hot side” creating a small stream that goes inside the zoo and under the train track at the end of the table
That would be cool
Absolutely waterfall, leading to a stream then a river/ canal. Lots of opportunities 😀
@@chrisbullen8561 Great idea

Punching a hole in that mountainside sounds like a horrifying amount of work XD Good luck!
I would love to see a snowscape section on your city.

Could build the mountain all the way up, keep the back open for the base, but add a snowy section all the way up at the top?
Lots of white studs
That sounds awesome and amazing

ps i need to get my sig fig planned and my patron taken care of soon!
My zoo has a train that drives around it, so good on you 😉
Love the monorail tunnel idea. Good luck fitting the tunnel into that mountain.
Thank you for all the good content. You are awesome mate
Make a little park at the top of the mountain with a secret porta-potty entrance to the planetary defense base
I like the idea for the zoo rail. It will be interesting to see how you incorporate the grey track into the aesthetics of the zoo you've got going
Great to see a channel dedicated to custom stuff, Jang!! 😎
I've got some ideas for your city:
- Add scrapp metal or train parts that are broken arround the train yard.
Great to see more of the city and its MOCs in the future :)
Monorail and plants sound good and I like how you tie these up with actual consideration of the terrain (fog for example).
I like the idea of the monorail, moving trains and monorails seems to make the place feel "alive". :)
Hey Jang, where/what are you planning on doing regarding the fire station? Because you could move it across the road to empty space next to the second train station. This will give the firefighters access to the fire train and give you more space for your zoo.
I absolutely love this city, I wish I could have something like that but I’m not patient enough
This has to be one of the coolest things RUclips has ever recommended to me!.
All of this sounds fantastic!
The zoo monorail needs to go into the mountain, because that’s where the aquarium is
this is what i thought!
and the secret entrance to the Space Defence base
I'd like to see a theme park in your city, maybe a small fairgrounds. You could even integrate it into your zoo
It's amazing how a mountain made with a ton of big ugly rock peices looks truly random. It's a testament to JANGs knack for attention to detail.
Your camerawork is really steady! It’s all so smooth and fluid.
Very excited to see what you are going to make with the zoo. The zoo is what drove me to your channel. Keep up the great work!
