I would recommend a deep cut from Al Green: "Strong as Death (Sweet as Love)", absolutely haunting! His covers of Bee Gees' "How Can You Mend A Broken Heart" and Beatles' "I Want To Hold Your Hand" are absolute gems too.
For me Al Green is like select, smooth, single barrel, aged bourbon whiskey. It knocks you out. I have 10 albums that are my Desert Island must have. The Gest Of Al Green is one of those. His voice is killer, like liquid gold. Thanks for the amazing Al Green. LETS STAY TOGETHER, TAKE ME TO THE RIVER, HOW DO YOU MEND A BROKEN HEART. I'M STILL IN LOVE WITH YOU, TIRED OF BEING ALONG - all like Tupelo Honey.
Wow what a fabulous track back go my youth 4 decades ago that Willie Mitchell production this will kill u alright those musicians oh gosh the groove the message awesome i can't stop movin what a time for this I need this now more than ever these dark days many thanks

Another great soul singer. "Let's Stay Together" was Al Green's biggest hit. But he had a lot of great songs in the 70's including "Take Me To The River", "Tired Of Being Alone", "I'm Still In Love With You", "For The Good Times" etc. He also became a pastor after facing a tragedy in his life (girlfriend's suicide) & performed gospel music for a time.
You need to listen to Let's Stay Together
For me, Al Green's production values are perfect. The "groove" is the hook. Love it. Thanks, Shawn!
I can't help but dance every time I hear this!!!
My favorite Rev. AL green, closely followed by Take Me to the River. The organ here gets me to the souls of my feet. And the drims.
The live version on Soul Train is the one to see and hear.
A classic - ClasSic love song! Gotta be one of the best intros ever - thanks to whoever suggested this one!❤🔥
