- After having a terrible time with walksnail, caddx reached out to me and slipped me a new firmware they are working on that actually fixes most of the video issues. I dont think i will be switching to ANY digital system anytime soon but props to caddx for hitting me up and helping me resolve my issue instead of just calling me a liar like the fatshark employee did.

This was awesome. Super happy to see that they reached out and got you set up with the system. Looks waaayy better than what I've seen in other videos. I have faith they'll keep improving and the fact they offer canvas mode is super cool considering DJI doesn't and from what it sounds like, won't be offering it in their new goggles.
what is canvas mode?
@@BOTGRINDER that's the full OSD support. DJI only has overall voltage, volts per cell, and signal strength.

Clearly this looks better but... if you really want to see if they've fixed the compression issues fly over more grass. a solid color tarmac is way easier to compress than grass or gravel since codecs look for pixels next to each other that are the same, and it looks to the frames before and after it to look for more of those same colored pixels, so a solid piece of asphalt is really easy to compress, grass is mind blowingly more challenging

THIS video was the best I've seen Walksnail so far. That was really damn clean.. Bardwell showed a clip on a livestream, on the same firmware (I think) and I said it looked better than DJI there too. This just solidifies that statement. This system currently looks better than DJI to me. If I didn't have 30 vistas, I would jump right in.. But I'm kind of waiting to see what happens with the new Dji stuff. I guess we'll see in a few days. Thx BOT!

Very interesting. I recently started doing small FPV video gigs for people and institutions I know, in order to see if I can pull it off, and most of the lines I planned out I couldn't fly with my cinelog 600mW analog, because of a lack of video penetration. I am still holding out, and will wait for a decent amount of time but this might actually be worthwhile next year. Especially if there will also be VTXs for tiny micros, like whoops and such.

That looked a LOT better than before. Price is still a little steep for my taste. Still going to wait it out & keep flying analogue until all these digital systems have been out for a while but right now they're definitely leading the pack.
System is looking alot better. Price is kinda high. Im waitting to see what the new dji system will look like. Depending what the new dji system does i will buy one or the other

welp you can forget about tbs doing anything with hdz or anyone else for that matter. They like to fully control everything they touch and they flat out that they are even less interested in hdz now that it's open source

@@jlarson42 from what i know of hdz rush is free do take the tech and do whatever they want with it, it's a similar model to analogue anyone can make goggles vtx's etc they just have to get the main chip from divimath and support will be given to them. but its an uphill battle because the system doesn't work or look like dji, which actually isn't a negative but the internet has chosen to view it as one.
@@tubsucks yeah. So far the big advantage of HD zero is there are small vtx's. Great for racers and micros.
@@jlarson42 yes that's one area it can do very well in, however racers don't seem to feel too compelled to switch. Micros will definitely see the benefit in clarity. I think where Hdz will do very will is in the goggle. What is proposed for them is so good that I think the company can do very well just selling those alone. Analog pilots racers etc will love what they can do and may feel switching to that set of goggle might be a good upgrade for them. Having it already have hdz built in will just be a bonus for them and they may get curious and buy a vtx cam combo to check it out.
After flying that for a bit they may feel like they want more of them for their other machines

I didnt change my mind really, its just the fact the fw i had sucked the new one they gave me makes the video look good. so a totally different experience.

The video looks a hell of a lot better than the first attempt you made a while back with the ws/fs goggles.This next part is totally off topic but I was watching the livestream last night and that night rip with the wing and chase quad was the sickest shit I’ve ever seen. Fuck quads l! 😂 I want a wing that looks like an f15 and has leds that look like afterburners in the dark instead lmao. Bot Rips in HD and honestly I'm still not convinced that I would drop any bills for Digital any day soon. I am interested in HD Zero though, might have to check it out one day or wait for the HD from Orqa.

Looks good but the freezes more then dji for freestyle this works amazing. Long range not so much.
I don’t have a cassx vista unit yet but with the DJI doc system it run pretty similar to the video feed you have rn but the fpv drone is locked at 40mwh(mine is at least bc of when I bought it😒)but pretty similar video quality the latency looked at little better though. But analog is always the way if you’re racing or doing freestyle. HD is good for cinematic and long range imo that won’t change just bc of pure price and advantages. HD has got probably 5-10 years before it fully takes over

Walksnail won't be fixed until I can get it as cheap as Analog. I have 5 drones (a couple tiny woops and some sube 250s) on all of them plus batteries, replacement parts, headset and all I am flying for less then a grand.... How much to get 1 drone flying with goggles? I mean if someone sent me it I'd use it until then I'm sticking to analog.

I'm guessing they released early to get ahead of dji. If the waited until their product was at 100% it probably wouldn't be until after dji's release and would kill their product off before they got started

Flying over pavement really obscured the main complaint with the other firmware, the center-of-view blur on textured surfaces. I think they'll get this right, because they're a solid company but I'm not sure this was the toughest test!

I guess the whole walksnail/caddx thing was just to keep DJI from getting upset - but since they gave caddx the boot maybe it doesn't matter now?
Anyway, I'm only switching away to another system if it gets to be so open that any manufacturer can make hardware for it. Supposedly that's the direction HDZero is going but we'll see what the future holds. Another reason analog will always have its place.

Ok, play along with me here.... You are an engineer. You invent something you think is really gonna revolutionize the FPV hobby. You've put in thousands upon thousands of hours developing this new technology, perfecting it, fixing bugs, getting it better and better with each new introduction of firmware. You also sunk thousands and thousands of your own money into this new tech you invented. It's awesome and different and potentially better than anything ever before in FPV.
And, you will now give it away as open source so ANYONE CAN USE your new tech, with all of your money used to develop it, and it's free for anyone to use and make their own products with. They will sell them against your own products. Several manufacturers will use your tech to make products that use your tech and are now lower priced than your products.
How is this EVER, in your mind, gonna happen? It makes no sense unless you are a huge software giant and are going against another company trying to take over the cell phone market. i.e. Android.
For most markets, especially the very small niche market called FPV, this Open Source idea makes no sense from an inventors stand point! They will be giving away their tech, they spent hours and hours and thousands upon thousands to develop!
YOU ARE DREAMING! HDZero, Carl, is never gonna give away his main tech, so others can compete WITH HIM! He's got too much invested in it! It's not logical to think this will happen! Would you do it? HELL NO! Well, Carl has said before, he won't be giving away his main tech for HDZero. Don't expect it - it's a TERRIBLE marketing decision. Forget about buying from an Open Source company making digital FPV! It's not gonna happen! The market is too niche and too small in size for it to be logical to give away tech that's gonna have such a small group that will buy it in the first place. Carl would be a complete and utter IDIOT to give his great tech away! FORGET THIS WILL HAPPEN - IT WON'T! He's said it. 🤷♂🙄

Feels safer now when it is CaddX at least and not just some random guys in china. If they can keep these kind of improvements coming and also show us that they have a well working support/service, then it might be the future.

I heard phantom saying he is seing some breakage but I couldnt see it in the video.
DVR must have filtered it or something or it was to small to notice it by just watching not flying.
@@dax4812 I did notice it wasnt really showing the lag in the dvr if you look real close you can see it but its very minimal at this range.
