- In 2008 Katherine miraculously survived a catastrophic stroke. Fifteen years later, her second-chance life is making hope accessible for people living their own stories of suffering. Today Katherine and Jay are creating sacred spaces-like Hope Heals Camp and Mend Coffee & Goods-where families affected by disabilities can experience the hope of Christ.

People say this because they want to say something encouraging:”God will never give you anything you can’t handle.” First off, God is not the author of pain, debility or sickness. This is a product of a broken world and the evil one who kills, steals and destroys. It’s a product of this broken world to bear loads we cannot handle, but God gives the grace. We can’t do anything without His help and grace and these beautiful people are showing us what courage looks like when people cooperate with the Lord’s grace and the encouragement of people who are loving and accepting.

2013, the year I had my brainstem stroke. I found your story and understood that I wasn't alone when I couldn't take care of my babies. I am healing in perpetuity, sharing my hope with others on my path. Just had my 10 year survival day in February. Love you both, and thank you from the bottom of my heart.
