Lovely video. Very informative with a wealth of knowledge that is laid out pretty sequentially!
You did mention in your video about how difficult it is to get upgrades just with elite statuses (hence your preferences to book award business/first class tickets). From those with experience in this spaces - would you please shred some light on probability of how often say a Platinum Pro status could get upgrades? Between domestic and international? If I’m a infrequent casual flyer, would I be just building castles in the sky regarding possibility of upgrades with a mere AA Platinum Pro status?

To my knowledge, you won't get upgraded beyond a Premium Economy type experience internationally with elite status (not to business class without an upgrade instrument - i.e. a global upgrade certificate). You can get upgrades domestically how often is like asking how often will you pass a pizzeria if you walk from southern Manhattan to Central Park -- that depends on a lot of random factors. If you're flying a very popular business travel route on a Sunday, Monday, or Friday, chances are very slim. If you're traveling on a Tuesday from a non-hub, maybe pretty decent.
In my mind, the main benefit of status like Platinum Pro is getting a Main Cabin Extra seat at the time of booking. You can pick an emergency exit row or something like that. Apart from that, there are just too many variables to account for to give you a number (and I wouldn't be the best person to guestimate it).

@@frequent-miler very clear and concise response Nick! Thanks for putting things in perspective for a infrequent newbie type flyer that I am.

Excellent podcast I agree also. I drag myself out of bed on Saturdays morning to hear the new podcast.

Great podcast. Unfortunately Fast pass for free from hyatt to AA for platinum pro must be targeted. When I checked there is a $700 fee to do the platinum pro AA fast pass status challenge. I currently have Hyatt Globalist and AA platinum status.

Yea I called for the instant pass and the fee is 200 for gold and 450 for Platinum. After the fee you need to get 10k or 25k points each 4 months. I decided to just save the 200 and put it towards the shopping portal since I already had 8k points for the year.

Hmm, as globalist unsure if I should do the challenge. P2 booked a flight on AS though cap1 portal. Will my AA transfer over if I'm not the main booker? Besides that would have no use for the challenge

If P2 booked a flight for you and you are traveling, yes. But your AA number must be attached to the reservation, it won’t happen automatically. Also, there are some fare classes that may not give you some elite benefits (ie, basic economy).

As far as I know both United and Delta do not match “unearned or temporary statuses” with their status matches. But check for yourself.
