In Senegal, it's known as monkey bread. With high levels of calcium, vitamin C, phosphorus and magnesium, the fruit from the baobab tree has many health benefits. It's being called a "superfruit" and is becoming popular across the world. Our colleagues from France 2 report, with FRANCE 24’s Emerald Maxwell.

This French man should be arrested for unfair payment to these people! He only pays them 60 cents for a 1 kilogram bag= about 2 pounds. I am sure he is making hundreds of dollars!!!☹️
I Buy 1 kilogram 5€
They r selling $65/ kg in canada
He isusing the people in the old colonial manner. No hero, just another thief
Colonialism 2.0
Economic colonialism
transportation costs...sales taxes...police and government payoffa... logostocs...keeping it in cold energy costs...trabdportation to other countries...cost of import to other countries...cpst of transportation in sale country...sales tax...you want to give who for what???
I hope all the workers are given a working wage and not taken advantage of.
French people in Africa.....?
Check the history books
@@Sum_Ting_Wong Correction : Europeans in Africa....
After hundreds of years of exploitation, the French 🇫🇷 enemy of the African are still exploiting and taking advantage of our brothers and sisters but it will soon end.
french are on top in looting africa and even same thing they r doing ...not it..
The white devil will continue exploiting. That's all it knows
Africa the continent with the best natural resources but still undermined and taken advantage of.
Facts
their own people in governments are taking advantage of them..this french guy is actually helping the locals.
Europeans again
don't you think that amount of money is still not enough for the amount he's probably selling the products for
I've had the privilege to test the baobab juice and the fruit in Senegal. Let me tell you its soo good!!
Baobab is plenty in my country too! I would love to export as well.
I am Kenyan and my home county has so many baobab trees including in our farm. Most of my neighbors aren't concerned because of the poor prices. Anyone interested to export them am a ready business partner.
Hello, still interested in exporting?
@@queenofsheba357 Very much.
@@eunicembikiojinamusic what’s your email addy
@@queenofsheba357 I can also supply from Kenya
@@ThePatriot67640how can we get in touch?
Can we talk about the white man obviously exploiting black labour?
Like, he's paying 60c per kilo. But obviously selling it for like €20 per 100g in Europe.
Its been sold here in the netherlands for about 30 euros per kg.
Shipping to europe is expensive and processing setup cost money.
Tax and regulations make it more expensive.
i think 60 cent per kilo is to little, maybe 5 euros per kg.
Exploiting? You are probably using a phone that exploited some community.
This is another goofy statement by someone that has no access to the transactions of the product and just blabbing an opinion.
The whole comment starts with “white” and “exploiting black labour.”
So goofy and emotional, nothing logical
@beavischrist5 you are mistaking raw material with refined oil or powder. it takes 20 kg of raw material to make 1Kg oil.
I hope the Europeans don't swoop in and rob Senegal of their natural ressource
For a fruit? GTFOH.
Europeans? More like Americans
I hope and pray they find a way to harvest, package and distribute without them getting tricked or exploited!🥳💚
Wishful thinking. They will do just that.
@@Armored_Kong Sugar cane was at the root of the slave trade....
these colonisers...ugh!
I've always wondered what the fruit of a baobab tree tastes like, like I mean it looks so alien like.
It is sour and kind of sweet from a distance 😂😂😂 very interesting. Back home we use it to make porridge sour.
He should be paying her 5.00 euros per kilo
1:51 why not let the whole world enjoy it. Yeah right. More like, I'm rich 🤑🤑
I am from Africa and I remember that we had a tree in our yard and a huge trunk. My mother used to make ice cream from it.
The term "poverty" is subjective and not objective and cannot be measured in terms of money. There are many poor people living in Europe who earn a hundred times more than Africans because their living expenses are too high.
And conversely there are millions of rich people living in Africa compared to Europeans who are rich in health, fresh air, sunshine, happiness.
yes africans are very rich but only thing they dont get to eat very easily but they are rich so french can loot them and all europeans...
Quite postmodern vision, objectivity or subjectivity, in reality, there's no kind of separation. The subjectivity is only possible through objectivity. You may say "poverty term lacks substance" what's true, for World Bank someone living with US$3.00 per day isn't in poverty can you imagine a norwegian survive with US$3.00 per day? Impossible he/she will literally die by starving at some point.
Talk about a steal of a price
Currently vacationing in Gambia and currently drinking the juice. Delicious and im addicted
