I also slowed down a lot on my second trip to Spain. Generally not more than 2 hours driving when I did move. I'm enjoying following your travels as I'll be doing that next January again.
Don't try and catch a lizard, their defense is to detach their tail. It does grow back but debilitates them until then. We used to try and catch them as kids.
I am a good bit older than you folk, but when we were children and went to the beach for the day. When we were getting ready to go home, Mum used to sprinkle talc over our legs and feet. Use a dry towel, gently rub over the talc and all the sand came off. Would that now be an old fashioned hack? Enjoy your travels.
