In 2017 I decided to leave a very successful career in social work, I sold my house, had a tiny house on wheels built and found a little piece of land to rent and live off grid , by myself. Although it is hard, especially the winters, I have never regretted my decision, even though I am a lot poorer :)

Being laid off marked a significant change in my journey. I had started saving for retirement later in life, which meant my savings were not substantial at that point. The situation was daunting and unexpected. Facing ageism, I ended up taking lower-paying jobs. However, after extensive research, I discovered a strategy that helped me achieve a $1 million return in 4 years, ultimately leading to a $3 million retirement. Reflecting on this, I’m glad because it led to choices that have worked out well for me

YT pushed this video to me and coincidentally I find myself in the same situation, although I’m in relatively good health and still live in a big city. Today is my last day with the bank so technically I’m unemployed from tomorrow. 20+ years in the bank and hated it especially in the last few years. You are very brave in handling your operation, move off grid and start a YT channel talking about it.
I was at the gym this morning while listening to a psychology podcast. The psychologist said whenever we are in a bad situation, just tell yourself that it’s just an experience. We are just here to experience life. This particular experience that you are facing now will pass so you don’t have to carry it around and torture yourself over and over again. Great advice.
I’m watching this while having my lunch. On the way to buy lunch, I saw a severely handicapped girl on a wheelchair. Her arms and legs were twisted. Even her head was twisted and her eyes were looking up. It was obvious she couldn’t even speak or eat on her own. I also saw her family taking meticulous care of her. It’s a very tough and frustrating situation and I asked myself whether I will also be so caring and do my best for this girl if she is also one of my family member. The answer is an absolute Yes without a doubt as I know deep inside I’m still a kind and compassionate person. Then something struck me. I asked myself: if I can be so compassionate and caring towards another person in distress, why can’t I love myself the same way? I know I hated myself deep inside including my mistakes to the point of sabotaging myself and getting into depression. I need to learn to love myself again.
I know you are also on a journey of loving yourself again so all the best to both of us! Take care and ciao!

I had a head on motor accident end of 2007.
Sustained physical and brain injury. Took me until 2016 to get back to a level of health where I could finish my journey by designing and building the ultimate machine for disabled people. It took 3 years of all my effort and savings. Launched the machine at Motorcycle Live 2019 at the NEC.
Was invited to the Manchester motorcycle show on the 30th of March 2020 to sign up my first dealership.
On the 20th March my business was locked down, no furlough, government gave me £74 a week when the rent on my home was £800 a month and my workshop rent was £480 a month.
I had to give up my home, lost my business and savings and now at 66 I live in a van that leaks when it rains and the government have just walked away.
Every day I wake up angry, depressed, anxious but I did nothing wrong and are now having to do work to survive which is crippling me.
I wrote to my MP and he told me there are no compensation schemes for people like me who lost everything.
Can't see a future, just live from day to day.

Covid was so bad on my mom and the nursing home was a collective idiot about a better wheelchair. I spent $8000 on a wheelchair eventually but they stopped me for five years, resisted like toddlers that don’t wanna go to bed. I even wrote an article for the trade magazine for assistive technologies for disability where I described how the bridge trolls stop everyone from doing good things and enjoying benefits. With the power of every God, I hereby cast out all detriments from your vicinity. We need your machine so bad. I’m asking too much. Please survive. Please heal the moral wound. Take vitamins that help nerve damage, like the B vits, and E. research it. Stress makes it worse. You look young-my disease started at age 24 and destroyed my career and plans. So I haven't been a normal person since then. I thought my disease would kill me at a young age, which truly changes you and you don't care if there are dishes in the sink that need done. My disease didn't kill me young. So do the things you LOVE. Be kind to yourself as well as others. Good luck to you.

You asked us about days that were turning points in our lives. One of my turning point days was a moment almost 15 years ago. On that day I experienced a head trauma when a boy near me hit me in the head with a baseball bat. I thought it was a mild concussion but even now 15 years later I have frequent (multiple day) headaches. There were brain changes from that head trauma that I could never have foreseen at that time. It altered my life forever and caused a significant disability. I can drive a car, do errands, and take care of my basic needs. But I can't really exercise, work long hours, get hot for any reason, because these activities make me feel violently ill! My life changed forever on that day!
I loved your video so much! It was just what I needed to hear today because you emphasized that your life maybe has to be lived differently when you have a physical disability but you can change and pursue dreams and goals that you possibly wouldn't have thought about before. So encouraging! Thank you for this reminder of hope! God bless you!

TLDR: Thank you for re-igniting my enthusiam for life & change...despite my disabilities :o)
For 5 years my illnesses have made me bed-bound 23hours a day, reliant on the strongest painkillers every day & depressed more than I ever thought possible. I used to be fit, strong, vibrant, wild & caring with a career in staff training where I could help strangers blossom in ways they didn't expect, just by caring, nuturing & sharing with them how to learn from each other & trust themselves.
This illness came out of the blue & hit me like a frieght train, much like what happened to you. You're telling of your story reminded me that it is like a sliding doors moment, a life suddenly derailed by unexpected disability. Every day cuts me off from nature. I'd moved to a small village on the edge of the city, surrounded by hills, a river, a canal, a park & it's all still there right on my doorstep but I'm unable to leave my house to enjoy it anymore.
But watching your story, hearing of the vast changes you've been through, seeing you accept your fragility but still believing in yourself & getting a little stronger day by day..., you've inspired me, you've made me pause & see that your strong heart is what's helping you stay afloat & adapt to what you CAN do, instead of loosing yourself in what you CAN'T do. I love you for sharing, and for reaching out to give what you've learned about yourself, and you're helping me believe in my own recovery more - however long it takes, I won't always be this ill.
Thank you for re-igniting my enthusiam for life & change, for showing us how much even your own small changes have put you on a happier path and a more fulfilled life, you've woken something inside me that's as honest & raw as this video is, I don't have a word for that something, but it's primordial & life-affirming for sure.
Wishing you & your family wonderful times & happiness xxx
    EDIT: for spelling

I'm glad to hear that what I went through resonate with you although I can see that life has got a really high toll on you. And you're right, understanding that I couldn't just regret what I lost but I had to learn to be a different version of myself helped a lot. I was teaching yoga before and I've lost so much of my mobility but I decided to put to work what I knew best, how the body functions and today i still teach but i do it to help people being their better self not becoming the coolest yogi in town. I work with people with spinal fusions, others recovering from injuries and so on. I try to help instead of being performative... I'm not sure I'm explaining myself well but I hope you get what I mean cause you are right, accepting is the key and mindset lifts u up. Wish you all the best in your recovery journey, no matter how long it takes, and feel free to write anytime. If you go on the blog there's even a DM. Have a good day and happy solstice, tomorrow summer comes 🌈

Thank you so much for making this video, I needed this . 🥰🥰🥰🥰🙏🏾. It’s very funny I came across your video , cause I was in my backyard just thinking about the same exact thing , leaving the city , move closer to nature lifestyle . For 32 yrs I’ve been putting my life aside raising the kids , taking care of the home ,and husband as a stay at home wife . My daughters graduated now , recently , one is an engineer the other a nurse. Now I feel stuck Like what’s next for me at 52 and my menopause 😁, while the thought of nature make me smile🤷🏾‍♂️. Again thank you 🙏🏾 🥰🥰❤️

I hurt my back in 2003. Was on pain meds until 2019. Still haven't chosen surgery. Have struggled to work. Keep a steady job. I completely understand your pain. When people around you cant understand what your going through is the worst feeling. Im probably going to have to retire early. im 52 now. Im hanging in there till 62. So. Im guaranteed early retirement. Thank you so much for sharing.

Thank you for sharing. Try mindfulness,it helps with dealing with the pain. it was a life changer for me after the surgery...and maybe will offer you a clearer vision of what you want to do with your life... maybe waiting isn't always the best option if your mind suffer from it. Thanks for watching and all the best

Thankyou for sharing your story, Antonella. I decided to quit my job almost 10 years ago because I was no longer happy there and I knew that there was something not right with the world where I felt forced to work a job, to buy things I didn't need, to get to an age where I could stop and then enjoy life for a little while before I die. Now I take enjoyment just from living each day and feeling the sun on me, or listening to the rain or the birds or looking at the sky. I have learned that there is no such thing as a bad decision if it is made because you truly feel that it is the right thing to do. Liked and subscribed, gratzie.

Thank you for sharing your story, we often have to overcome hard periods in our lives. But we lick our wounds and make the best out of what we have left because there is so much to live for and so much to accomplish a little at a time. As I get older and my body is able to do less I have to plan better to make shortcuts and work less time but accept it. Carry on!
