Life’s journey can be so cruel at times as things seem to fall apart. One thing that I have noticed about this type of journey is it mostly ends with a rebirth and a newness of self realization which creates a wonderful outcome. “A gem cannot be polished without friction, nor a man perfect without trials”. I have a sliding door moment but people are going to roll their eyes. I'm neither bible thumping , hellfire and brimstone nor Ned Flanders(Simpsons).so take it or leave it...here goes... On the dark night of my soul, I cried out to God in my utter misery. The god whom I just read and learned about through reading the bible. 'Do what you say you do God, save me', I said inwardly and immediately I felt a touch in the centre of my being from where something began to spread and ripple and radiate throughout my whole body until I was filled with unimaginable joy! I was ecstatic. All the misery and hurt and sadness was gone. I quickly penned some words and put them to a tune so I would remember the moment(if I could ever forget). Following on from that I felt at some point, Jesus holding out his hand and asking to me to trust and follow him. And so, I took that huge leap into the scary unknown darkness, which felt was like stepping off a cliff, and i was suddenly transported into a world filled with light and joy and love. I couldn't believe it. This was the real world! This was life... Surrendering to the love of God was my turning point.

Imagine the difference living in a welfare state would have made to you! I feel so enraged mid point in your story about that. You would not have worried about paying for surgery, the recouperation, how you would buy your basics etc etc.

I live 2500 meters above sea level in the Rocky Mountains. The transition from Autumn to Winter is always a pleasure to experience.🏔️ Our first snowfall arrived earlier in the week.

I am a walking mistake as well, I made many wrong decisions and still trying to pick things up as a single mom, life is tough but hearing your story gives me hope and courage to face tomorrow

My story of loss of a job, loss of what i owned and being able to support myself, loss of my physical self as i knew myself, enduring the pain both mentally and physically as well as loss of what i thought was my family support system occured after a car accudent. It sent me down a very dark road in which i attempted suicide. After which i survuved but had to endure the judgement of family. A daughter reached out and took me in, i received mental health counseling and slowly accepted the broken person i had become. Over 20 years later i still suffer pain and limitations but tell myself almost daily that im doi g the best i can and better than alot of others. To anyone experiencing life altering loss of who they were or perceived themselves to be don't lose hope. Evolve into the best version of who you are becoming. Its hard losing your self identity. No-one else except those who have experienced this can understand. Accept that also. Be the best you can be today for yourself.

Thanks to do this video. I think vulnerability make people stronger. It's a way of authenticity. If by time I loose all my masks. All the habits or things I say that are not me. I will be more light and more me. Things and people around me will be more representative of who I am. So for me you are a strong person. You are on the way of humanity needs to come back to. And It's not about slow living for me. It's about think, say and do in the same direction. No matter if I will arrive to do that but I walk this way and I like to see that in other people. With this authenticity you speak, I feel like I listen a friend, like I listen to me. I am happy to passed 24 minutes and few more to write this message, with you. Thanks a lot for this present. I’m in the throes currently of my second large life crisis, but my first years ago involve the loss of my health, military career, and relationship all in one fell swoop. My turning point was at the point I realized that I knew nothing. I had to stop thinking with my old self and look at the world with child like eyes again. Again, thank you for posting this. I’m currently in the throes following an intense stalking incidentinvolving violence and my family abandoning me among other things. I’m just at the start of picking back up and really needed to see something like this. Thank you so much.

Thank you for sharing Lucy's story. By doing so you are opening your heart to receiving love and support from so many and this will be beneficial in the healing. It certainly isn't your fault; you gave Lucy the best life possible. I had a dog back in the 90's named Lucy, a Jack Russell terrier runt with some physical issues. She was given to me as a puppy and I spent a considerable amount in vet bills to help her create wellness. I believe that she chose me at a very difficult time in my life and I really don't know if I would have been able to cope with the issues without her support. I was fortunate to have her company for 14 years and when the day came to make the decision to help her transition, it was one of the most difficult choices of my life. Yet, intellectually I knew that this is the greatest form of love. I still think of her; she is forever printed on my heart. Animals are consciousness and consciousness is NEVER lost, so Lucy will be back in one form or the other. Please keep your heart open to another creature that "picks" you. Much. much. love and support from the mountains of Montana US.💚

I recently lost my dog who was by my side every day for 11 years and I don't know how I will ever be happy again. They are with us for such a short time, wishing you much love.

Thank you for sharing such a heart felt story of the love between your little girl and her dog. What an amazing story. Here is a little story about a cat and our little girl. When our Allison was five years old, we adopted a shelter cat named Nikolas. He was a big blue eyed fluffy white cat. We were attending the Orthodox church at the time, and it was a struggle for our Allison to stand for the two hour service. She wiggled and whined the whole time. ( It is a challenge for the children, understood!) We tried to get her more interested in church, and so one day we had an art session making some icons for her room. She looked down at Nikolas, and said, "why don't we make an icon of Nikolas?" Nikolas had become her best friend! How do you explain to a five year old that her beloved cat was not a saint? She then said, "well... if he is not a saint yet, he can be a monk!" So we made Nikolas a little monk outfit with a little black monk hat and Allison made a cross to put around his neck. The cat LOVED all this attention and his new outfit! And from that time on, when standing in church we would say, "Stand still and make monk Nikolas proud of you!" Well... it worked!!! She would come home from church and report to Monk Nikolas all about her progress! Sadly, our beloved Nikolas was not with us long. In Allison's grief, we let her make an icon of him to put up above her bed. And every night, she said 'good night' to her saintly Monk Nikolas. She kept his little monk outfit in a special box on her dresser. This story has a sad ending, as our Allison was not with us long either. When we lost her suddenly, these memories of her and her precious "monk Nikolas" meant so much to us. And now we have Allison's picture next to the little icon of Nikolas, with a candle set below them. But now it is I who has a special little box on my own dresser with his little monk outfit inside of it. I know the Orthodox believe that animals do not go to heaven. But I disagree.... because our sweet Allison and her beloved monk Nikolas just belong together and always will. God surely understands this, being the compassionate God that He is!

I once left a long comment on a previous video of yours and didn't think I'd be commenting again but this video was so beautiful I just had to comment. Sitting here right now in Tokyo Japan with my wife watching your RUclips video and reflecting on its beauty and importance. When I was young I grew up in an extremely abusive family. My father was extremely violent, my mother enabled his abuse on all levels, and my much older brothers were non-existent in my life. I was bullied at school because I didn't follow the strict religious beliefs of Hinduism as some of my classmates did. I experienced great racism in my school because it was a post-apartheid era School and there were still racist people there. So all in all the only friends I ever had growing up with were my dogs. It's because of my dogs that I am alive and trying to live life in a good way. My wife knows what I'm about to say, but the truth is the most important things in my life have always been my dogs.......... and my wife. Your story reminds me of a stray dog that I came across when I was about to leave to go to school in the morning as a 5-year-old. I gave her a slice of bread because she was hanging around our trash can outside our house. She had been abandoned by her owner after apartheid came to an end and her owners fled the country. The next day I saw her again in the morning, I gave her another slice of bread. This continued for almost a week until I mustered up the courage to ask my mother if we could keep her. To my surprise my mother said yes. And this dog remained in our family for over a decade she helped to train and be mother to two Doberman pups that we bought during that decade. She was well known as "the mother". I lived in a second story apartment and our dogs were never allowed in our three bedroom apartment. They had never entered it in all their life. On the day that this dog got ill she gathered all her strength and climbed up three flights of stairs to enter the apartment and go straight into my bedroom looking for me. Unfortunately I was at school. My mother gently chased her out of the apartment but took her to the vet because she knew the dog was very sick and that is when the dog was put down. I will always remember her and miss her, her name was Skampy. Thank you for sharing your beautiful story, your videos mean the world to me all the way here in lonely Japan.

Takis shelter in Crete is wonderful. Takis sold everything and started his shelter about 13 years ago. Since then he has built the shelter into an amazing place. Fortunately he has fosters and adopters all over Europe. He has built it from donations. He is a saint. I watch his videos everyday. It’s the best part of my day…
