OH MAH GOD YES. SO EXCITED 8) Edit (post-watch): wow what a sad ending. Gold had so much potential to grow. I was not expecting the finale to be so dark. Seeing Gold shift from being a happy go-lucky kid who loves his Pokémon friends, to an emotionless husk that takes out his aggression on others is disheartening. I can’t believe this is real. As sad as this is however, this sudden change is pretty realistic for some people I’ve known in real life. Mental health is obviously a real issue. For those who are reading this, remember to be close to those who care about you. And most importantly, remember to love yourself. Do it for Gold.
Honestly seeing Gold be scammed out of a shiny pokemon hits way too close to home for me, I remember as a kid spending hours trying to find a munchlax in Pokémon diamond before I finally got one with the help of my brother, A kid at my school really wanted a munchlax because it was his faverote and i wanted to be friends with him. Munchlax was also my faverote pokemon, but I wanted to share it with him, so I traded it to him, That guy did not give it back and stole it from me, and claimed to lost his game cart when I kept asking him. So this silly lil animation made me feel super horrible, good job!
*Animation lesson:* It's not Team Rocket that makes a person bad/evil,but rather a b!tch that manipulates your heart and steal your beloved Pokémon from you. (Especially because this Pokémon is a valuable Dratini).
Man, this was an incredible, beautiful, and soul crushing animation. Ending the journey when Gold is so depressed after trading away Dragonair, and joins Team Rocket as a result, is such a gut punch to the heart, especially when we all expected for the journey to at least end with him becoming the Johto champion. But the fact of the matter is, not all of us complete the games we play as children. For one reason or another, we may end up dropping it and never finishing out playthroughs. And that's what makes this animation stand out from the rest of the Pokémon animations out there. Underneath all the raunchy humor, is the story of a boy beginning his Pokémon adventure, and losing the passion he once had for the game after a traumatic event. Although I know you'll most likely leave the story here, I can't help but wish Gold and his Pokémon have the happy ending they deserve. Keep up the fantastic work Xandrecos 😊

Given this dark ending, in addition to the uncomfortable ending of Pokemon Red, I think that the ending of Pokemon Ruby will be very dark, especially since it is the only game that gives the protagonist a father, and it is the first game in which the male counterpart or the female counterpart are present together, in addition to being the generation that introduced Gardevoir

Your guys deserve all the praise for this. The two parts together makes this a official animated movie! A movie with no voice acting, simple yet brilliant animation, amazing pace, full of jokes and goin into places that even hollywood don't go and escape the grasp of all those manuals about how to wright a story. All done lighting fast and hit you like a truck. This is truly something else.
This was insane. Probably the best animation I've ever seen for GSC. Good humor, dumpies, mirroring the color palettes, a story arc, excellent animation. This was lightning in a bottle. Job well done.

I was a fool to think Gold was just getting ready to do the Goldenrod Radio Tower bit. Maybe he is. I remember Silver going there to fight, so maybe Gold will get the chance to confront Kris?
Man I know how it feels. When I was a kid, I bonded with a certain Braviary, which I foolishly traded and couldn't get back. It really hurt 11yo me. I never even gave it a name.
Part of this was Gold's fault as he was impatient and didn't realize that you had to engage in a conversation with someone and get to know them that way. Edit: Keep in mind, this isn't a defense for Kris as she did essentially blackmailed him out of his Dratini, which was a rare shiny and has been with him for a long time since they're first met in Goldenrod. I'm just saying that Gold himself isn't exactly innocent either since whenever he saw her, he constantly tried to flaunt instead of actually talking to her like a normal person.
I imagine it's only gonna get worse for Gold past this point. His anger and resentment for those that betrayed his trust will only aid in his ruthlessness. I wouldn't be surprised if he tries tracking down Crystal to steal his shiny Dragonair back, and then become a genuine threat.

Still one of my favorite animations on youtube. The sound effects and facial expressions are so charming, Gold is a suprisingly likable character for most of the series, and that twist at the end was great!

Reposted because someone in the comments was way to argumentative in the replies. You have such a good knack for characterization. From the Japanese toting ladyba, the prankster asshole hoppip, and Gold being a mostly lovable goof. I was hooked from the first minute of the original video. This is a whole roller coaster ride of a video. I love this series because of how real it feels. It's not just a happy story, and the way you use nostalgia is more than just siivagunner rips and memes. You incorporate it into the characterization in a way that feels natural. You're sooo good at writing silly yet gripping serialized stories. Instead of being a dopamine farm of a video, It's a very real experience. (spoilers beyond this point) I noticed the video wasn't that long, so I was thinking we would just make it to the champion's hall and post game content would just be left behind. It would make sense because to drop it and leave it at that because there's so much to do between these games. Like with matty burritos playthrough he skims through some of the content for some jokes. But you had such an invested feel and took time with each location to establish the feelings of each scene AND IT ALL Lands so well. I was upset that poor Typhlosion had to get neutered for his aggression, I love the whole beach scene in olivine and how hoppip is still a wascally basterd, It actually blew my mind when gold managed to break the rock. Ampharos after the revive, the whole ecruteak gym was a doozy. Steelix melting, the poor nidos at the end. I was upset that gold was starting to get mean at the end, but while not the best end for gold, it's a great example of a character being negatively developed. I mean, people in the comments are still hoping he gets another go around. I don't blame them, he's such a lovable silly goober of a cheeto ball. There's so much love and care put into this too. Even the sequence were you kept jumping off the ledge over and over again was so fun. AND the DOUBLE it was all a dream ending at the end. You do such a good job at defying expectations and getting people invested. I hope you continue to make wonderful art like this, and that you're remembered as an artist who isn't afraid to be real. Thank you!

Dude this was awesome!! I was surprised by a lot of the choices made by Ethan/Gold. Absolutely shocking and I loved how you made that dream sequence with the ambient version of the Pokemon Trading Card Game for GBC. There’s a lot of work put into this from the sprite edits to the animations and art style. I loved it all! I would love to see this become a series because I absolutely you went from goofy and silly fun to really great story telling! Keep it up!

This series since I saw its first part I have loved it, I had been looking forward to its second part, I can say that it was very worth the waiting time. At first I noticed that it was still normal and I loved it, but the ending was very unexpected and the reality check was felt, I just hope that Gold can find his happy ending one day. This two-part series is a complete masterpiece

Your guys deserve all the praise for this. The two parts together makes this a official animated movie! A movie with no voice acting, simple yet brilliant animation, amazing pace, full of jokes and goin into places that even hollywood don't go and escape the grasp of all those manuals about how to wright a story. All done lighting fast and hit you like a truck.

This was insane. Probably the best animation I've ever seen for GSC. Good humor, dumpies, mirroring the color palettes, a story arc, excellent animation. This was lightning in a bottle. Job well done.

Part of this was Gold's fault as he was impatient and didn't realize that you had to engage in a conversation with someone and get to know them that way.
Edit: Keep in mind, this isn't a defense for Kris as she did essentially blackmailed him out of his Dratini, which was a rare shiny and has been with him for a long time since they're first met in Goldenrod. I'm just saying that Gold himself isn't exactly innocent either since whenever he saw her, he constantly tried to flaunt instead of actually talking to her like a normal person.

In each game, the protagonist's name can be whatever you want (as long as it fits the 7 characters long space) and if he wanted to name him GOLD (in uppercase), then I assume it would be right to refer the protagonist of this video as GOLD.

Still one of my favorite animations on youtube. The sound effects and facial expressions are so charming, Gold is a suprisingly likable character for most of the series, and that twist at the end was great!

Another amazing vid. These cartoons have the perfect blend of comedy, levity, and terror.
I absolutely adore how well this is animated as well as the old sounds used for it. It really captures the era of gold/silver honestly perfectly!

You have such a good knack for characterization. From the Japanese toting ladyba, the prankster asshole hoppip, and Gold being a mostly lovable goof. I was hooked from the first minute of the original video. This is a whole roller coaster ride of a video. I love this series because of how real it feels. It's not just a happy story, and the way you use nostalgia is more than just siivagunner rips and memes. You incorporate it into the characterization in a way that feels natural. You're sooo good at writing silly yet gripping serialized stories. Instead of being a dopamine farm of a video, It's a very real experience. (spoilers beyond this point) I noticed the video wasn't that long, so I was thinking we would just make it to the champion's hall and post game content would just be left behind. It would make sense because to drop it and leave it at that because there's so much to do between these games. Like with matty burritos playthrough he skims through some of the content for some jokes. But you had such an invested feel and took time with each location to establish the feelings of each scene AND IT ALL Lands so well. I was upset that poor Typhlosion had to get neutered for his aggression, I love the whole beach scene in olivine and how hoppip is still a wascally basterd, It actually blew my mind when gold managed to break the rock. Ampharos after the revive, the whole ecruteak gym was a doozy. Steelix melting, the poor nidos at the end. I was upset that gold was starting to get mean at the end, but while not the best end for gold, it's a great example of a character being negatively developed. I mean, people in the comments are still hoping he gets another go around. I don't blame them, he's such a lovable silly goober of a cheeto ball. There's so much love and care put into this too. Even the sequence were you kept jumping off the ledge over and over again was so fun. AND the DOUBLE it was all a dream ending at the end. You do such a good job at defying expectations and getting people invested. I hope you continue to make wonderful art like this, and that you're remembered as an artist who isn't afraid to be real. Thank you!

The ending was really unexpected and I love it! This video has everything; good humor, tragic scenes, disturbing imagery, obscure references! And the music... Oh, those arrangements are wonderful and I really love how you use the 8-Bits sounds! I really wonder what *would have* happened next.
P.S.: I had to edit my comment since, at first, I failed to understand something as clear as the literal meaning of "The save file is corrupted!". Besides, I'm eager to watch more of Xandrecos's work.
I'm used to happy endings and this one is not just refreshing to watch since, in life, not everything ends happily, but it also hits me hard for several reasons, such as one of my fears being losing save data I spent too much time on.
I've been rewatching this video over and over these days. It had me thinking about some stuff I consider I needed to reflect about.

Dude this was awesome!! I was surprised by a lot of the choices made by Ethan/Gold. Absolutely shocking and I loved how you made that dream sequence with the ambient version of the Pokemon Trading Card Game for GBC. There’s a lot of work put into this from the sprite edits to the animations and art style. I loved it all! I would love to see this become a series because I absolutely you went from goofy and silly fun to really great story telling! Keep it up!

This series since I saw its first part I have loved it, I had been looking forward to its second part, I can say that it was very worth the waiting time. At first I noticed that it was still normal and I loved it, but the ending was very unexpected and the reality check was felt, I just hope that Gold can find his happy ending one day. This two-part series is a complete masterpiece
