I know it’s 3 years later but we’ll see if you respond. I’m torn between purchasing a gsxr 750 and a GSX 1300. My main concern is I am 5 foot 7, 130lbs and I don’t want to fight it in twisties.
I bought a Ninja ZX1400R SE for my 50th birthday. The brakes on it were amazing. The ability to turn down the engine was awesome. The traction control settings helped keep the front end on the ground. Insurance was cheaper than the Hayabusa because of all the Ninja safety features. However, I could not keep myself from flying everywhere and racing on the street against super tuned cars so I eventually traded it back in for a cruiser for full value of what I owed on it. Was a great experience though.
Whats up man.. First and foremost, I respect and admire what you are doing with the Hayabusa Gen1. Most people along with the industry don't give respect like that when it comes to putting the Busa on the track. I've always went against that negative concept and have disproved it. You may not be lightening fast, but you can definitely be fast as hell and really enjoy yourself on the track. My advise is to lighten the Busa up as much as you can bro. Do away with the dual exhaust. Especially the stock with slip ons. Get a full race exhaust 4-1 or 4-2-1. First and foremost. Upgrade the calibers and the brake pads, suspension should be upgraded, at least ohlins springs in the forks, and definitely upgrade the rear shock. It'll help with the drive coming out of turns going down the straights. Carbon fiber rims is a major upgrade with inducing less reciprocated mass which will give her higher and better maneuverability, flick ability and turnability. Overall performance. Every little thing you can do to lighten that baby up, and enhance its ability to turn, do it. Even going up to a 190 rear tire will enhance its flick ability. Change the sprockets and go with titanium sprockets. Lightening up spinning or moving parts will enhance it even more, and add hp. Change the chain and go with an EK. Get rid of the handle bar and back seat and the foot pegs for riding people and put the seat cowl on. Change the rear sets and go with racing rear sets, etc., etc.. Carbon fiber, titanium as much as you can! I do track days on my Gen1 Busa. Intermediate class with STT, Sportbike Track Time. I have done many things to lighten and enhance my bike. You can check it out on IG @galactis69 or my RUclips Galactis69 BBL2R2 if you want. Follow me and I'll follow you. I hope this helps you out man. See you at the track!
Nick Fountain “Salt Flats” are a whole “thing” in themselves... people don’t realize that the Salt Flats is nothing like asphalt! The Salt Flats are like riding on hot tar or dense sand (poor analogies I know) but the point is “traction” is LOW and there is a reason that of the few bikes that CAN do 200MPH [on asphalt] can NOT get to 200 MPH on the SF’s no matter how hard they try... look at the history of the SF’s it stands out that the speeds seem Oddly low when you compare guys going faster in a quarter mile or half mile drag strip
Nick Fountain NP. Don’t take my word for it... I have no real experience. I’m just a fan of watching different SF content and noticed the speeds (usually) seemed oddly slow. (They have a 200MPH “club”... which again seems easy enough to to do and with todays tech, you’d think everyone could do it... but it’s a hard [patch?] To get! I’ve noticed folks complaining about literally spinning their wheels at speed! And that if they could get enough traction they could go faster? Of course wind resistance becomes the overwhelming issue once you get above 120-150 (or so) so quickly these SF folks go to highly aero designs... the same HP will yield higher top speeds but mostly because of grip issues... or so I surmise? 😂

Yammie pube manscape those grooves! Busa for the str8 shots no dout, its not carving up any curves by any standards however you my good sir are a man of distinct figure. Someone like my self 6ft 240 the busa fits like a glove. Its looks like the r6 is rinding me(lul) and most liter bikes are a slimmer design. The first time a bigger fella sits on a busa....its that kinda finally feeling like finally the bike fits and I can feel and control bike cruising around having more weight for tilt. The busa had many markets for ppl you probably don't understand unless you fall in that category kinda thing like 250s or duel sports kinda thing. Probably fun as hell lol
The Busa was never intended to be a road corse bike. More of a 1/4 mile/top speed bike. Of course there are upgrades to improve this, but out of the box the 1 liter super bikes will dominate this on the track.
I just want to know if you own one or ride one on a constant basis, I have one and ride as much as I can and he's scared so he should have put more seat time in
d j cuso yes I have ridden a bike almost every day to work and back and occasionally up in the canyons for 8 years. I completely agree, fear can send you down in a heartbeat. Always ride cautious, never ride scared.
Yammie, if you haven’t bought a new windscreen yet check out the Puig racing windscreen. Got a clear one on the gen2 busa it’s great. You can see perfectly at top speed in a full tuck. Higher quality than the zero gravity windscreen’s.
Needs to be on the Autobahn in Germany . Built to be stable at speed-not for turning . Track reminds me of Thunderhill in Northern California . Nice job of keeping the shiny side up . Suzuki should have sold the engine and ecm as a package because there are a lot of small cars with Busa motors .
55 rear tyre , take a like out of chain and some HH front pads with braided lines then it's a different animal . Of cause it will never be a track bike but it's a cheap all rounder weapon
Best improvements on a Hayabusa from my experience are braided brake/clutch lines, EBC pads, good brake fluid, proper suspension setup, thicker dampener oil, remove 47 inches of foam from the seat, convert to reverse pattern shifter, serious weight reduction wherever possible, install spacers to raise handlebars/lower front, rear links w/rod ends to adjust rear ride height, decent rearsets, all the obvious performance mods, yosh box & pipe, 100 hp wet shot kit, K&N filter, etc. From a handling perspective, rebuilding the seat was huge. You sit in the bike instead of on it. Lowers the cg immensely and combined with raising the front bars makes it a more comfortable bike to ride. Put the correct sprockets on for your particular track. I'm sure I'm missing a few things but what I've listed will get you going in the right direction, literally and figuratively. Enjoy.
Great video. And now we see why many people who have done a lot of trackdays on liter bikes have gone back to 600s or even smaller. You finally mature and realize you're not going to be Rossi, Marquez, or even Tito Rabat for that matter, so get something that handles well, have fun, keep learning and save a lot of money on tires. Be safe out there Yam and maybe we will see you at Cresson if you ever get over that way!
Takes me back a few decades. I rode a Kawasaki Mach 4 750 in the 1970s, the engine power was awesome but the chassis was not up to the task. Every corner at speed was a character builder but the straights were the reason to keep riding. Crude and obsolete by today's standards but even back then, the future was only a day away. Great video!
From the description, it reminds me of my old kawasaki GPZ1000RX. heavy torquey and fast, once i got around to racing faster bikes, i rode it hard, and grabbed it by its scruff of its neck, it handled pretty good actually :-)
Ive had my gen 1 on the track at Mallory park, in the uk, a few times, definitely a big bike to handle but great fun, i was overtaking more track suited bikes, in the turns and short straights, definitely scary on the brakes, got the brake fade too and corners coming up faster than i expected. Nice to see another with a busa on a track 👍.
Let me start with a quote i heard about the Hayabusa "Hayabusa is for man, not got many"-一世窪田 I drove the Yamaha, the Honda and the Kawasaki, but i still love the Hayabusa and will own it one day.
I also own a 2007 'busa. Try Galfer HH nonsintered pads, they improve the braking a lot, I didn't even go to stainless steel brake lines, yet the braking is much improved. You are very brave to have taken the old Zook out on a roadcourse. Good video
I live in Oz and I’ve got a gen ll ‘busa. On the open road the trucks around here generate huge amounts of turbulence, but the weight and the fairing (+ power) makes passing a breeze. I covered 900 kms. in one day and was less tired compared to riding my R1200R over a similar distance. Agreed it’s a bit of a handful in the twisties.
Been watching your channel for a while, and I can say that I have loved seeing the transition from "Daytona Slayer" to "Busa Boi". It has been all kinds of interesting. Can't wait to see what crazy mods come to the Busa.. such as the Turbo. Stay Safe man!
So I got to the 4:20 point and felt the need to say again like I said on one of your earlier busa videos. I have been a busa rider since 2007 and I would have definitely recommended you got the Gen II with ABS. I used to take my 07 to the track and the brakes would never let me give it it's all, but my 17 busa I am all out all the time on the track. On the street I am still calm and crusin because of all the cages on the road who don't pay attention here in Maryland
I see you retiring the ‘busa and keeping the H2. Great for street AND track. Plus the sweet chirping of the turbo. Go Big Green and move up front, “my little squid”.
ATGAT don't be that person who becomes a burden to your loved ones because of your adrenaline addiction. I've seen so many families have to endure hardships because someone is stupid.
Owned a Hayabusa since 2011. You have to hang off hard on these bikes. It’s counter intuitive. But with the right tires wheels will plant hard in corners. You transition slower. And nail it coming out of the chicane. Not a fast track bike But very fun. Best for dudes over 6’/200lbs Takes muscle💡
Great video. Love the Busa series!! I hope to see it on the drag strip too. I understand most who want more power turbo these, but are there no supercharger kits?
There's a White & Orange Busa i've seen cruisin around here in Tempe, AZ and im pretty sue it's supercharged! I can't ever catch the dude to ask him!lol
@Philippine SemiExpat Superchargers are definitely a more linear source of major power with zero lag, but need a fairly beefy platform from the start...turbos offer an explosion of power and don't require gobs of HP to make them work, but lag like crazy until you spool up. Pros and cons for both platforms!
@@timsretirementjourney8323 They usually fall flat on theit face through the powerband, unless it's a centrifigual... then it's basically like a turbo that cost some power to make some power.
@@ItsDaJax just from my own experience (a personal car from the past) and also anything I've seen at drag strips, supercharged is just smooth power right from idle on up. There's no argument from me that Turbos make good power too since a friend had a old 302 mustang and put twin turbos on and dyno tested it at around 600 hp and almost as much torque.
I've been watching your videos for a while and the fact that you put classical music relaxes me and makes me watch more of your videos. Especially the videos where you talk. Congrats
I'd be more concerned about the ability to brake before entering a turn at too high of a speed and the extreme difficulty of handling due to weight rather than the windscreen.

Well my '97Cbr1100xx doesn't seem hard to turn, pretty flickable, though at speed, you definitely have to counter steer and weight shift, it falls right in. Extremely stable too, stock brakes(3-pot Nissan) are good.
You can clearly see that the screws are missing! Who installed that windscreen? To everyone, check your bike at least 2 times before going on a ride, touch everything and make sure it is all fastened.
That's a fantastic observation actually, underestimating by 50mph is pretty huge. Definitely explains why he thought the brakes felt underpowered lmfaoo Seems like an unconcious testament to the comfort of the 'Busa though, even if it is slower than a track-prepped bike it's definitely doing better than Yam gave it credit for here, considering its almost 600 pounds and two decades old.
Ah yes, Suzuki brakes or lack there of. There are several things you can do, the first is braided brakelines. This will help with feel but not stop the fade. The next is to either swap the six pot Tokico for four pot Nisin calipers (Gsxr750) or swap the master cylinder for an after market one. I used an I.s.r but Brembo or Lockheed would be just as good. The master cylinder bore needs to be 19mm for the six pot Tokicos the standard Suzuki one is 17mm. Better still swap the lot for Brembo, I.s.r, A.P Lockheed or P.F.M brakes.
I'm willing to bet its the 190 rear tire that's giving you the most trouble with the delayed feel in the turns I know the size and ergonomics have alot to do with it too but I'm just curious if that could be a big part ... Your 675 probably has a 180 and makes it probably a little quicker
@@yammienoob exactly. The ZX-14R is heavier than the busa but it turns in like a D/C tier litre bike. R/T compared a Viper ACR 2013 vs Viper ACR 2001 vs ZX-14R 2014 vs ZX-10R 2007. I'm glad I didn't have to press F to pay respect!
To all those who say a Busa can't lean "Just got a knee down" Do your thing Yammie.
Better the windscreen flew off there at the track, rather than on the freeway. Stay safe.
I thoroughly enjoyed the narration. I've ridden a '17 ZX-14R but never a Busa. This only makes the itch worse. Keep pumping out this quality content!
Wow, 108 comments so far and 90% of them are self proclaimed Busa experts. Fortunate for you, Yam?
After the turbo, carry it to the salt flats for a top speed run! That's what she's made for.
Nick Fountain
“Salt Flats” are a whole “thing” in themselves... people don’t realize that the Salt Flats is nothing like asphalt!
@@Studio51media Hi Brad, That's very interesting to know. I'll have to look into that a bit more. Never knew that but it makes sense. Thanks, Nick
Nick Fountain
NP. 😂
Yes. May even get a red hat
I've been riding for 20 years and love it.
No interest in speeding on track, I'm all about cruising.
I'd like to see yammy take a supermoto around a go kart track.

Yammie: *preaches only really using your bikes power on a track*
Me: *smiles knowing im gonna go get on my 600 and rip through first and second gear leaving the parking lot*

I hear the B-King's are just Hayabusa's that have actually gone too fast
I had a B-King. It was faster than my Hayabusa...like proper soil your underwear fast. 3red gear from 60-120 was amazing.
They have the same engine and look better.
@Jishi Katsu I think as far as standards go, they looked good. Better than a hyabusa.
The Busa was never intended to be a road corse bike. More of a 1/4 mile/top speed bike. Of course there are upgrades to improve this, but out of the box the 1 liter super bikes will dominate this on the track.
Well of course. The hayabusa is built for the street. A 1000cc is built for the track.
I've owned both and don't see a difference but cost and brand names xD
Thanks for the tip man - I also have a gen2, and was about to go for a Puig. Sorted!
I've noticed you improved in your confidence in hitting close to the apex, keep that up, and you would be on the shoulder of Rossi and Keith code
Just curious… why do the lights and mirrors get covered on the track? Is that to prevent shattered glass?
55 rear tyre , take a like out of chain and some HH front pads with braided lines then it's a different animal . Of cause it will never be a track bike but it's a cheap all rounder weapon
Watched that opening five times. Laughed my ass off every time. Such a chill reaction to getting hit by a fairing. Lmao
The memes are stronk with this one... Still, very interesting insights. This Busa series is great
Best improvements on a Hayabusa from my experience are braided brake/clutch lines, EBC pads, good brake fluid, proper suspension setup, thicker dampener oil, remove 47 inches of foam from the seat, convert to reverse pattern shifter, serious weight reduction wherever possible, install spacers to raise handlebars/lower front, rear links w/rod ends to adjust rear ride height, decent rearsets, all the obvious performance mods, yosh box & pipe, 100 hp wet shot kit, K&N filter, etc. Enjoy.
Don’t know anything about track days but why does Yammie tape up stuff on the bike?
nick smith To keep shards of glass or plastic from going all over the track in the event that you are in an accident
Tonykickass408 also to prevent any reflection of light that could distract or impede therefore endangering anyone else
And just less distractions in general. No need to check those mirrors or react to a brake light. Tape em off
Great video.
I would up my Patreon level to see you take a 50cc scooter around the track 😂
Takes me back a few decades. I rode a Kawasaki Mach 4 750 in the 1970s, the engine power was awesome but the chassis was not up to the task.
Every corner at speed was a character builder but the straights were the reason to keep riding. Crude and obsolete by today's standards but even
back then, the future was only a day away.
Let me start with a quote i heard about the Hayabusa
"Hayabusa is for man, not got many"-一世窪田
I drove the Yamaha, the Honda and the Kawasaki, but i still love the Hayabusa and will own it one day.
I am proud of you Yammie! Great riding, it is a sport bike for experts and you handled it.
On the go weight reduction with the fairing deciding to go on a trip
I also own a 2007 'busa. Try Galfer HH nonsintered pads, they improve the braking a lot, I didn't even go to stainless steel brake lines, yet the braking is much improved. You are very brave to have taken the old Zook out on a roadcourse. Good video
Opening music is Dvorak: Symphony No. 9 - 4th movement
i think i heard some tomita or debussy in there too somewhere...arabesque if i remember right..memory..."foggy" from them times..it WAS the 70's..
a little Claire de Lune
I live in Oz and I’ve got a gen ll ‘busa. On the open road the trucks around here generate huge amounts of turbulence, but the weight and the fairing (+ power) makes passing a breeze. I covered 900 kms. in one day and was less tired compared to riding my R1200R over a similar distance. Agreed it’s a bit of a handful in the twisties.
Who else was just looking at his shadow as if it was Batman on his chunky batmobile(the motorcycle in Dark Knight series)? 😂😂
Yeah... Yammie preaching about always wearing full gear on a teack and then riding the busa with his jacket flapping about....
I have been very impressed by your music choice lately. Dvorak’s ninth symphony went very well with the intro!
Oh no baby what is you doin.
hey i’ve never been on a track before, is there a reason to tape up the headlights/mirrors?? like is it for protection or if they break or something?
Been watching your channel for a while, and I can say that I have loved seeing the transition from "Daytona Slayer" to "Busa Boi". It has been all kinds of interesting. Can't wait to see what crazy mods come to the Busa.. such as the Turbo. Stay Safe man!
I don’t actually care that much about the Busa lol. Still very much a die hard Daytona track boi
Finally, the video we’ve all been waiting for 😂
A just reward for your patience
Yammie Noob Why thank you, almighty Busa God. 🙌🏼😝
Papa Yammz Bussin the Busa baby!!! Go Get it homie! Ride till the wheels fall off!🔥🔥🔥
What tires are you running on that 'busa?
I see you retiring the ‘busa and keeping the H2. Great for street AND track. Plus the sweet chirping of the turbo. Go Big Green and move up front, “my little squid”.
Just imagine for a second yamie, wasn’t wearing his helmet. That would have been a nasty hit.
Probably would've crashed.

Playing New World Symphony in the beginning brought back those high school band class days. Thank you
FYI- the mirrors should fold inwards from the bottom of the arms...
Owned a Hayabusa since 2011.
You have to hang off hard on these bikes.
It’s counter intuitive.
But with the right tires
wheels will plant hard in corners.
You transition slower.
And nail it coming out of the chicane.
Not a fast track bike
But very fun.
Best for dudes over 6’/200lbs

Great video. Love the Busa series!! I hope to see it on the drag strip too. I understand most who want more power turbo these, but are there no supercharger kits?
There's a White & Orange Busa i've seen cruisin around here in Tempe, AZ and im pretty sue it's supercharged! I can't ever catch the dude to ask him!lol
@@travissearles23 I may be a bit old school but I've always felt given the choice Supercharged is better.
Congrats
Holy shit
so a high speed designed bike breaks at high speeds. Good to know.
That was an aftermarket windscreen so is it still Suzuki's fault?
since when is a aftermarket product the bikes fault
I'd be more concerned about the ability to brake before entering a turn at too high of a speed and the extreme difficulty of handling due to weight rather than the windscreen.
I've been faster, never had an issue.

@@yammienoob as you should. Will make a great before and after. Of course new EBC pads and braded lines are fantastic but ya can just keep enjoying the busa for who she is.
So, would you describe the Hayabusa's handling and turn-in as "languid" or "ponderous"?
I rode the Busa on Track plenty of times. It is no GSX-R but a lot of fun.
The Stock windshield never came off a single time.
must be an aftermarket part. Didn't look well attached in the first place.
Ah yes, Dvorak's busa symphony, movement four
Possibly the best intro I've ever seen recorded on any motorcycle related channel! Well done Yammie Pube you consistently bring a full plate to the table everytime I'm ready to eat.

Sweet Baby Jesus you really freaking did it! Took the 'Busa out for some laps ... don't know what bet you lost,, but congrats on bring her home (reasonably) intact.
Well hey, now you have a reason to get a new track bike!
You need to properly adjust the suspension on the busa. Nott sure which size tire you have but a 190/55 does a lot for the handing.
3:32 it's already detatching here
Well my '97Cbr1100xx doesn't seem hard to turn, pretty flickable, though at speed, you definitely have to counter steer and weight shift, it falls right in. Extremely stable too, stock brakes(3-pot Nissan) are good.
MORE TRACK CONTENT
You can clearly see that the screws are missing! Who installed that windscreen?
To everyone, check your bike at least 2 times before going on a ride, touch everything and make sure it is all fastened.
"windshield came off, I was going about 80-90 mph"
4:54 - Approaching 130mph :D :D
That's a fantastic observation actually, underestimating by 50mph is pretty huge. Definitely explains why he thought the brakes felt underpowered lmfaoo
Seems like an unconcious testament to the comfort of the 'Busa though, even if it is slower than a track-prepped bike it's definitely doing better than Yam gave it credit for here, considering its almost 600 pounds and two decades old.
Figures, the first video I appear in gets demonetized. YT trying to keep down the explosive new content!
I'm willing to bet its the 190 rear tire that's giving you the most trouble with the delayed feel in the turns I know the size and ergonomics have alot to do with it too but I'm just curious if that could be a big part ... Your 675 probably has a 180 and makes it probably a little quicker
The weight is killing it
Take off the extra body
What? Lol that’s not going to help - fairings are light
@@yammienoob must be your body that needs removed from it
@@yammienoob exactly. The ZX-14R is heavier than the busa but it turns in like a D/C tier litre bike.
