Rev keeping Rock and the Billy alive through thick and thin for over 30 years. Seeing them back in the mid 90’s was a riot. If ZZ and the Stones can keep going, so should the Rev and Setzer. ‘Til the wheels fall off.
I had never seen RHH before and always thought their name was kinda cute and dumb. Lord have mercy was I wrong -- The Reverend Horton Heat is the most serious, blistering, insane psychobilly band out there. That's over the top quality professional musicianship, super clever lyrics and dang! Do they ever rock it!!!
I think you are all so cool, in fact when I met this girl,, we travelled to Chicago to see you , Awesome! seen you 3 or 4 times... met Jimbo backstage in Youngstown OH... I was Honered
I'm watching this the day after my 63rd bday. Took my daughter to see the Reverend when she was only 14. Both of us were happy to witness his ferocity on guitar. One of my better memories from our life together. Unfortunately we won't share anymore, she died the day after Thanksgiving in 2019. At least we could share the simple yet complex joys that great music brings.
Hi, from July 2024- I am reading your words with a tearful presence. I don’t know how or if you’ve survived your daughter, but I hope that you are in a place that is healing for you. Congrats on winning The Cool Dad Prize too. Man if I’d have been blessed by The Rev at 14, instead of 18-19, i would be a much different person. Anyway, may your daughter Rest Peacefully.
Jimbo used to let my buddy and I into the shows in Santa Cruz for free through the back because we were underage. Way cool dude. Never really talked to the rest of the band much. That was back in the 90's and I haven't seen em in concert since.
@@michaelpopovitch6645 Paul Simmons is a great drummer... Scott was great too, but it has been said that Scott didn't have the best attitude. RJ is drumming for RHH now, and he's doing a solid job.
I've seen them 3 times. Always great. Their records are great but seeing them live is an unforgettable experience. Saw them play at UCSB, The Filmore west and Ventura theatre. I highly recommend anyone that loves rock n roll to go see them live.
Saw the Reverend for the first time in the mid-90's. The opened up for Soundgarden... They still come to Calgary about once a year and we never miss them. What a fantastic band, still go super hard as they always have and the last few tours have brought amazing guest musicians along for the ride to keep it interesting. A must see rockabilly show.
I first saw these guys at a free concert in Lawrence, KS back in the double bass drum era. 😎A die hard fan since. Some guy that sings for a band named Pearl Jam was climbing above the stage and entangled his microphone in the rafters. He tried for about five minutes to untie it, to no avail. They paused the show for some time as they attempted to unchimp the mic from the stage. You’d think they would have a back up microphone. 🤣🤣 Years later, Mr. Heath let my wife sit on the stage throughout the show at the Mercy Lounge in Nashville. Cool dudes, buy their stuff.
I expected the Revbo and the Bassbo to sound great, which they did. But I was quite impressed by the tricky "this ain't country western" drumming skills of Owen Wilson there, as well.
Tyner72 the song at 15:57 is called Loaded Gun. You can find it on the album The Full Custom Gospel Sound of the Reverend Horton Heat. The lyrics in this version are a little different than on the album. One of my all time favorite bands. Jim Heath is the reason I have a Gretsch guitar.
One of the hardest working bands in the business. Saw them in Spokane WA in '93. There was 10 people in the bar. They played the same as if they were in front of thousands. I've been a fan ever since. He did the Duck Walk then jumped down as he was jamming and was spinning on his back. Man, all the respect to the world to all three. I will be buying tickets to see them at the Crocodile in Seattle come Feb. Looks like they still bring the heat!!!
I know the Reverend and Chris Isaak took the retro-rockabilly thing in very different directions, but I'd still like to see them get together on something.
I would sling wires for the sound guy at Trees Dallas back in the early 90's. I'd be about 5 ft from Jimbo. He'd talk to us and super nice guys. Wish I could find all my photos from the day. Still got an autograph shirt from 1992
Jim Heath and Jimbo Wallace are the Reverend Horton Heath. They have had the pleasure of featuring different drummers throughout their illustrious careers but what never changes is the collaboration between Jim and Wallace and the amazing sound that is The Reverend Horton Heat, Replete with Hank Williams country suits and the rolled up sleeves of a madman on bass. Namaste
One of my favorite shows. Amazing experience. Old barely running cars pulling up to the venue with greasers and greasettes hopping out. People twice may age in the audience rocking out, mosh pit, swing dancing and bobby socks. Must see.again.
They may not have nice looking paint jobs or interiors but I bet you all those cars were probably running like tops. We help each other find parts and work on our cars. They all run pretty well most of the time. My old F-100 starts up every time first try. Glad you had a good time. Hard not to at a Reverend show.
Jimbo is very generous to his fans, I caught him going in a backstage door and didnt have tics to a soldout show, he walked me over to the tour bus took down my name for the guest list. I told my buddy he thought I was full of shit, drank a few beers and went to the front of the line. The doorman said right this way Mr.Ross party of two we still laugh about it now. Thanks again Jimbo and Rev for givin killer show as always and for a great tale to tell.
Hey bro I got one just like your story that happened to my friend and myself out at a show in Hollywood. We went up to the bar ordered a couple of rounds, and looked to our left and Jimbo was trying to get the bartender's attention. While he was waiting for the bartender's attention, we told the one attending us told him to give him what he wanted. Next thing we know we were chilling out with him, and him and the Rev. while we sent a martini and a shot and beer during the set gave us thanks.
Still love these guys to this day. Prob brought here by the algorithm bc a Surf Rock search took me to Link Wray, then Brian Setzer, now the Rev. I've had the unbridled joy of seeing Rev & Setzer live. All great music. And Lemmy's 100% correct. He will kill you. Even after his own death, if you don't go get yourself some HEAT
Well, I'm a Death Metal guy that loves psychobilly too, owns a hotrod and definitely doesn't still live with Mum so, I guess I just live the best of both worlds. Ha! 🤘💥😎
Ran into Jimbo a few times. One time was before a show at The Blind Pig in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He could NOT have been nicer. Just gave him a quick bro-hug and said have a good show. He said, "Thanks guys.", to me and my girl and the other couple we were with. Just a totally chill and cool guy. Even though to a FEW of us, he's a ROCKFUCKINGSTAR !!!! Saw him a few months later at St. Andrews Hall in Detroit and he was just as cool. Greeting fans in the lobby before the show. Super down to earth.
Saw them in Columbus, Ohio at Promowest Pavilion, I believe it was May 2003. One of the better shows I've seen. Down to Earth people playing great music.
Man the rev and gretch amp gretch git is killer. Good band good everything tight as nails they got a lot of stage timethat amp is 17 watts on 10 thats it if he needs more volume. he just moves amp deflecter away
Great show--hats off to the Band and the Reverend! A good time had by all. Free outdoor concert in Santa Fe tonite, May 16th, 2015... for Outside Magazine's Bike n' Brew fest in Santa Fe. [And to my namesake poorly commentin' below: 'Turd' Ferguson, please cease n' desist bringing a dark stain to our name, This Fergie says, 'Rev. this is so awesome!! i started out being turned onto RHH back in about oh, let's say, '89 or so. the Rev was wearing torn jeans and t-shirts and the fishing cap (which i cannot find to buy anywhere!), playing to small audiences at The Vatican/The Abyss in Houston. i've followed them since, and finally got to meet him via a backstage pass given to me by a former D.J who just happened to have known the band since the early 80s. meeting Crowded House the year before, it was a memorable year!

Thantks for the video !! Reverend RULS!
Seeing him tonight at Knuckleheads in KC. Cannot wait!
The Fillmore AUDITORIUM?
If Lemmy says you should go see 'em you should sure as fuck go see 'em!
+GlowingBentley
Damn straight! We are going to see the good Reverend tomorrow not.
GlowingBentley Truth has been spoken
11:15 CAUSE LEMMY SAYS SO!
I'd like to see a Social Distortion Stray Cats Reverend Tour and all 3 singers sing some songs together towards the end of the show
…And Poison Ivy.

Derrick GW You should check them out. They're still terrific live.
Thanks. I will whenever I get the chance to!
Rev cooks, I've only been fortunate to see them once, definitely an experience to remember! Dig it!
I love that he periodically smiles at a random member of the crowd. That stood out to me when I saw them for the first time a few months ago.
To see Jim Heath and Brian Setzer up on the same stage doing a run off would be beyond perfect. Two great musicians in love with Rockabilly.
These cats are timeless 🤘🤘
Owen Wilson on drums!
Thats my boi Paul Simmons!

That is a LOT of music from three musicians.
Fantastic concert.
One of the best bands you will ever see live (maybe THE best).
Gotta agree. Saw them at The Loft in Lansing, MI. One of the best shows I've seen and I've seen a LOT because I'm old.
I usually one see bands once. The second time I was at Heat's show I caught multiple fractures to my rib.

Marc Farias that’s for damn sure.
Fantastic, RHH, the best rock n' roll band in the world. Big Kisses from France
Loaded gun is a BIg piece of the soundtrack of my life. The Robin Griffen band, the Rev, Jimi, and Fuckin ZZ. sigh.its been a great run

my mistake(s). Tim Stiles was Hash Palace's Drummer.
Sorry, but fuckin...bad crowd!! I would be jumpin around the entire show! Love the rev about 30 years now !

what an intersting contrast in the man, the character, and the music. Doesn't want to be the stereotypical rock star guy. THat's cool.

Psychobilly without all the trappings. Very cool.
Sorry dude, I misread you post...If i knew how I would retract my first post...sorry I am a dumb ass sometimes.
best ever

He laments not having a big chart hit, go rev, write a good melody. It's not about twanging!
3:57 nice little tease of "There's a Little Bit of Everything in Texas"... old country tune played by Hank Thompson, Ernest Tubb, and others.
