    If anyone was having trouble, like I was, it looks like Premiere Pro now requires frames to be included. So for a 1 second timecode you need: 00:00:01:00 instead of the 00:00:01 shown in this video. Premiere Pro kept reading the .srt file incorrectly until I added the extra zeros.

    • @amaexpert
      @amaexpert 2 года назад

      But how do you make that in Google Sheets? When I try what you say, it's making every frame a step, like 00:01:00:01 etc

    • @ShotgunSquirrel
      @ShotgunSquirrel 2 года назад +5

      @@amaexpert So its a little fiddly, first you need to do the column normally as shown in the video. Then add a second column next to it that references the first column with the formula =A1&":00" That should then add the :00 to the end of every cell.
      From there I just copied the cells and pasted them into the first column using only the values.
      Hope that makes sense.

    possibly one of the most useful videos ever! - thank you so much -
    I found this also works using a CSV imported into Editingtools - its important to use TEXT in the spreadsheet to get the numbers to appear correctly (i.e. 00:00:00 and not 0:00:00)

    • @ThePremierePro
      @ThePremierePro  2 года назад +3

      Thanks Chris! You need to drag down 1 cell for every second in you timer, so 10 minutes = 600 cells (+1 for the header). I don't think the extra 0 should be a problem, but if it is, you can easily change the display format in Google Sheets by selecting the entire column, and choosing Format > Number > More Formats > More date and time formats. There you can change 'Elapsed Hours' to 'Elapsed Hours with Leading Zero'.

    Thanks for this. Didn't even think to use subtitles, but it is so much easier than all the other videos I found that try to shoehorn the timecode effect into working as a count down. And once the srt files are built, it's a really quick process.

    For me google sheets is automatically changing "00:00:00" to "12:00:00 AM" and 0:00 in the actual cell. It throws off the whole algorithm so that the count down doesn't change one second at a time... Any idea why?

      Not sure why it's forcing you to use that specific time format, but you can change the format by selecting the column and going to Format > Number > Custom Date & Time.
