@@Chauc3rthe AI has never been amazing frankly. I am happy to say it's better now with this update, I am sad to say it's not much better and most fights end up 40 meter brawls anyway. I bought the dlc but I'll probably wait for yaml and stuff before I play.

Yeah, had an enemy actively run away after I destroyed his shorter range weapons, all he had left was LRMs and I think a PPC, thought it was really weird till I looked at his readout and realized it was the AI trying to do its job

I just got MW5. Didn't realize you were supposed to travel around the star system. Almost at max level and I'm still at the beginning of the game. 😆 This game has quickly become one of my favorite mech games of all time. I can't wait until the DLC goes on sale. My last hoorah with a MechWarrior title was Lone Wolf. SRMS always make sense because you can shoot an enemy in the face with them with all of your weapons. It was a game changer for me creating a firing mode that shoots all your weapons at the same time. Chain fire takes too long. If you created an Alpha Firing mode with everything on your Atlas but your LRM's, you'd punch a hole through anything on the first shot with that loadout. Dropped an Atlas, Warhammer and a Stalker with my Wolverine 2. Sadly, most of my Lance perished and I ran out of ammo so I had to abandon. 😕 I wish MechWarrior 5 had ONE Armored Core like mech. It's too bad you can't build your own mech by swapping out torsos, arms and legs.
High ground is always best, in this game & in real life. Enemies can't shoot at you from below, except tanks. So you get at least 1 free round before their weapons are able to bear on you.
I do not get why is this happening? It just looks stupid. It would be nice for parts to went flying when there is an ammo explosion, but whole mech rag dolling into air....
I'm surprised you don't rebalance the back armor. I find that it's easy to get away with 9-10 back armor on 100 ton mechs. Just don't spend a lot of time mooning your enemy and you'll be happy to have that extra front armor.
That's exactly the DLC I was waiting for. I spent more time in the Solaris arena in MW4 than actually playing the Merc side quests :3. Gladiatorial arenas with mechs is just awesome.
This is where I began my career mode Bara. I had to if I wanted to have Fisher. Thankfully I was able to import my data from my campaign. I renamed from Niks cavaliers to masons falcons to now Jakes Juggernauts
this dlc is a lot of fun the duncan banter is pretty entertaining, i know your pressed for time making all your content but you blew through the start so fast you didnt fly to a hub buy some stuff and optimize your mechs before departing and thats why you had a hardish time, speaking of time i took my time and when i got to these missions they were pretty easy.
Always play them as intended the first time to get the full experience designer's were looking for. Then do it with my setup and blow through the campaign in an hour or two. Lol
Has anybody noticed they've flipped how the weapon cooldown has been flipped? Instead of it being an empty gauge as the default, & the bar emptying after you shoot, it's now a full gauge that empties when you fire & refills. Also, the icons for the lancemates have changed, too. I would like for Baradul to do a quick video highlighting the changes to the game with the new patch. Especially since he's back to using Vanilla for now. I'd have liked it BEFORE this video, but since it's already out I would hope the next one would at least go a little bit into the changes before he goes to the next mission.
Nah... messing with the bones of the game would take some effort and that costs money. Much better to slap together some new missions in the old bioms with the same stuff and have a few goodies for the players. Call it a day and sell for 30$. Modern game design 101 basically.
@@myles5276 Technically there are. A lot of the variants now have unmarked variants where they use the dlc equipment. Most notably I've seen Marauder 3Rs with PPC Xs instead of normal PPCs and Marauder 2 4As with three PPC Xs. Variants even have new unmarked variants using non dlc equipment like hunchbacks with SP lasers instead of M lasers or other such changes once the technology becomes available. AC RFs are also integrated with normal variants. If anything it confuses me how they integrated this DLC so well, but absolutely refuse to do so for the other DLCs.

@thomashauptli892 I think the hatchetman DLC actually triggers before Kestrel, Rasalhague in the early 3030s, Dragon's pre-quest is in the late 3030s with the main bulk being in the war of 3039
Yeah, it's great...except I can't play it, because my save file is currently in 3094, there's no New Game+ or career save-import, and I am *NOT* leaving my Marauder II behind. Might I suggest Piranha kindly address this shortfall and add NG+ or a career save-import? The MAD-5A is a hungry angry monster and it wants Solaris 7 to *SUBMIT.* :E
I think im waiting until the YAML mods are updated, I was pretty in to my building binge so I rolled back to the last version. This is kind of making me want to play though.
So...how long before the mods are rebuilt to handle DLC6? Because all of my mods self-deactivated & for some reason when I put them all back in & activated all of them the game suddenly stopped loading. It keeps crashing, but I don't know why. I managed to get it to work once, but I don't remember which of the mods I'd left off to make that happen.
So Baradul, with the changes in this dlc, you're going to love doing a modded playthrough. You're going to see the occasional bit of mod content weapons showing up on mechs. They got a field refit system working. It will ruin your day, in the best possible way. The challenge is amazing.
ya i don't bother with LRM's usually, bots insist on using them in MELEE, and you very rarely get to use them in effect with your other weapons..i just rip them out and replace them with SRM's more firepower i can use plus more armor
I got it last night and ran my first mission, think I will have to reinstall the game and clear all mods, it was running extremely choppy, even after turning down the resolution. But I like how this starts so far!!!
I recently bought MW5 with the Steam sale. It's my first Battletech game since Mechwarrior 3. To be honest, it doesn't feel as fun as I remember. Maybe it's because Mechwarrior 2 was my intro as a kid and I love clan omnimechs better. I guess a clan DLC is coming out this year?
Also there should be a mod where RUclipsrs are MechWarrior's you can hire. You'd make a great merc lancemate Baradul! But what is his characters name and what planet in the Lyran Commonwealth is he from?
The last Missions are just a pain in the a... Second Last: My Lance stuck in the starting bay. Last Mission: You can repair, but well coming out of the repair bay and focused by three assaults is not my kind of fun. Several opponents stuck in walls etc.. Some hotfixes are needed.
Big downsides to the rapid fire ACs. Low damage per shot yet it still takes the same AC ammo so each ton of ammo doesn't go as far as a standard AC. High DPS means more attention on you so more damage you take. These new ACs seem like they would be good for a dual but not for a normal mission.

Baradul, you need to remember that the ai goes into a fight according to the range of what ever weapon is in order of the first to sixth weapon groups, and that it doesn't use chainfire so you need to put their weapons in pairs as well...🧐 I'm saying this since you switched to all your lancemate mechs and changed the weapons, so they'd likely enter combat while trying to get the medium laser range instead of LRM or AC/5 ones.😅

Nice new series. AI friends aren't doing you any favours, although it was funny seeing the Atlas punch the Wolfhound in the second mission.

I played this CLC straight through, it was very fun. Just make sure you dont let Duncan take point in the arena.
I'm really enjoying this so far! However I'm very disappointed that PGI won't upgrade the mech lab. And the AI mates are still useless .

I strip also 2 MLs on Rifleman in favor for more ammo.

the rapid fire autocannon seem a bit trash, especially the low tier one, they chew ammo quick and dont do much damage
