I'm glad to have helped make these matches enjoyable. Great playing with you. O7, rhaelcan.
I like that they have added a couple new mechs in the last few months I hope we get a couple more by the end of the year
I like that they don’t come out mega buffed because it avoids another scaleshot meta scenario where 8 of the 24 players per lobby were running scaleshots
One of my favourite heavy mech is a 70 MRM Roughneck... a Reaper with some (ER?) Small Lasers would do solid work medium to short range.
Crap I really thought this one was going to be better. It even seems the onyx is better due to size and agility. Thanks for doing this new first impressions series dude, it already saved me money!
That thing carries a full Assault Mech's armor, on just that one arm. F A R M.
more than that.. max assault CT is like 185 on the atlas... thats the highest ct mech.. this thing is over 230+
although it's a little tricky, you can torso twist 45 degrees and then the other 45 degrees with the free lock key.
They should have a button to actuate the arm to block the front
The shield looks like it should be used in conjunction with normal twisting. If you lean into trying to twist it only it falls off super quick with a right torso destruction.
That shield is a fantastic for farming damage. Thank you, Reaper players!
That is the whole point of the shield to absorb damage so I am pretty sure that they do not care how much damage opponets get from hitting the shield.
LMAO...yup, I'll let you farm damage while I farm kills, keep on shooting that shield their bud!!
The high point of culture these days “number go up, I must be better than everyone else”
@@shawnadams1460Such is the circle of life. I farm you, you farm others. All is good.
@@osiris4457 The universe is at balance. Not at peace... hehehehe... we're far from peace. :P
Never had shnaps... Peach shnops is what you need.
I hope they fix the custom parts being unpaintable because it's affecting the black knight resistance variant as well and now it looks terrible
I'm probably not going to get this mech, but I've been looking at it just for curiosity's sake;
and I'm wondering if "close range brawler" is the right build for it.
Looking at it through mechDB, I'm wondering if maybe "mid-range brawler" with 3xLPPC, MRM40 and AMS would be a decent option...
Yeah, the damage isn't as high, but the extra range should help offset that, and give you more twist time.
It seems like an awkward mech, and its primary characteristic, the giant shield, is tricky to wield. Hmmmm.
Yeah it's a bit tricky, if it was a bit more angled it would help in using it without really exposing your back!
I agree, the shield on the Onyx is a better fit. On a mech with this many weaponhardpoints the loss of the slots the shield takes up is such a pain to work around that I'm even considering dropping endo-steel to make it work. I'm currently running 4xmrm10+6xERML on mine but no matter what fit you pick this mech will be toasty due to lack of space for extra heatsinks.
@@Flakzor123 im running ERSLs and 4xSRM6
runs really cool, but good lord the range is atrocious
@@ironboy3245 I was running that for most of the games I played but with range like that you are dependant on either team willing to push in order to get the fat juicy targets you are set up to hit... doesn't really do well when 60% of the team just pokes and ducks back into cover.
@@Flakzor123 I've been going with 2 Snubs and 4 MRM10s, gives you some option at range and the snubs really tear people up at close range. I've seen a ton of different loadouts though. It's versatile...but very tricky to use right.
I stopped buying Legends when they overnerfed my scattershot. I get it needed some adjustments but it is now useless and gathering dust. When this comes out for MC I will definitely get it. Unique chasis and playstyles are worth it.
can we get the cauldron to test the Onyx with an extra energy and ballistic hardpoint in the right arm?
Could you play this mech in 3rd person to make effective blocks?
Worth a try!
Why not treat the Shield like a weapon that can be raised when “fired”? Drawback being it blocks your vision and you can’t fire other weapons. Sounds cool to me.
Cause as good as it sounds, that would take engineering time they don't have available.
ive noticed the heat capacity is just not good. 3 heavy ppcs take you to 89 percent heat and thats chain fireing. tried 4 ppcs and that does okay but the damage is so low most enemies can just out dps your tank.
It looks like a GM from Mobile Suit Gundam 😂
Fuck now I need to do that color sceam
@@pedrob7374 Lets just hope it doesn't cause you be beaten like a grunt suit in the show lol
I put a post under Feature Suggestions on the forum; make the shield a mandatory piece of equipment, but let us choose which arm to put it on. Have the arms on this Mech omni-pod style!
It's difficult as a right-hander to have the shield in the right hand. Very counter-intuitive, unlike the Onyx.
I am a lefty who still uses mice right handed (how I was taught) I like having the option of a left and right shield for these two mechs.
Personal opinion on it i feel trying to make the shield work would cost you more games than win them. lol
I disagree that SRMs are not good against light mechs, especially the SRMs in the arm can easily track lights and do splash damage on the legs.
😎💯👍
Gundam fans be all like 👀
Not good vs lights? Well, swap SRMs with streaks. :)
I like PGI coming in low and then cranking them up. Seems more sincere than starting high and then nerfing after the sale (how Star Citizen do it).
Star Citizen? Heck PGI does this all the time, are you that new here? Up until 4 or 5 legendaries ago it's what they did with most new paid mechs.
@@PraetorGix Phil asked the question 'which way do you prefer it?' ... was responding to that.
imho binary cannons should have their damage reduced by 2 points, they already weight one ton less to have a clear advantage over HPPCs that the fire duration is rather negligible for getting either extracooling or extra firepower
I dont like the srms on a black knight because it is so different from what we are used to seeing on these mechs. And there are so many much better srms.
The knight doesnt have waste level hard points anymore btw.
I believe this is the worst purchase so far in MWO. I HATE this mech.
