This is the best explanation of crowning I have seen! I always wondered how it worked as I thought the fret heights would change, but now I understand it. Keeping the black line on top is a great tip. Thank you.

Hi John, There is so much work involved in this it's mind boggling. How many hours did it take to build the completed guitar? Take care John. Cheers, Huw. PS Love your logo.

Thanks Huw. I’m not sure. I should try and work it out really. It’s taken about 4 weeks worth of weekends. But a lot of that time is sorting out the camera and talking. I think if I didn’t have to do that I could make one in 3 weekends.

What a lot of work, no wonder hand built gituars are so expensive.

Absolutely! Lots of different skills too to get it right. Not that I have learned them yet lol

@@JohnClothier you're getting there John. I'm amazed at your skills.

Thank you although I know I have a long way to go. The engineering side of things really inspires me with guitars. Things have to be just right

    Great work.
It always gets me though when luthiers say the wire has to have a greater radius than the neck... Not pointing the finger at you; everyone seems to say it. It makes sense of course, but really, it's the opposite.

Thanks. I guess it’s because we reference it from flat. Technically it’s a smaller radius but we call it greater lol

@@JohnClothier Yeah. It makes complete sense, intuitively.

      Fen31 yep weird isn’t

That hadn't occurred to me before, but I'll probably notice it all the time now. I guess "a tighter" radius would be less confusing.

Yep I think you are right. Tighter is the better word
