Before my first trip to Australia many years ago, I studied up on the deadly creatures there…and then I decided that going to the beach was a bad idea. Walking around in nature seemed like a bad idea, too. Even having a hotel room on the ground floor seemed like a bad idea. One day, we were walking along a sidewalk on Sydney Harbour and we saw the most gigantic box jellyfish I’d ever seen swimming along near the surface. I know the really big ones aren’t the deadliest ones, but it still made me secure in my decision to stay out of the water entirely.
The venomous box jellyfish are native to Queensland in Northern Australia not South Eastern Australia, if you were in Sydney that Jellyfish you saw in the water there wouldn't have posed you any risk. The water at beaches like Bondi is very safe when it comes to wildlife, the worst thing you might encounter in that water is a blue bottle which is a sting that's slightly painful for about 20 minutes, I got stung as a kid and didn't even cry for reference. The biggest risk of the water in Sydney would be the rips not the wildlife, but as long as you swim between the flags you would be fine. Also missing out on the nature in Australia because you're afraid of a snake is silly, realistically only 1-2 people a year die from snake bites. I'm 28 and have been bushwalking, camping and hiking my whole life, and I've literally only encountered wild snakes once in my entire life. Snakes like to avoid people. Also no one has died from a spider bite since 1982 and the most venomous type of spider the Funnel Web is very shy, they burrow themselves in deep holes. The other venomous verities like Red Backs would be comparable to Black Widows you get in the US, it's not something to really worry about. So yeah largely the danger of wildlife in Australia is way over-exaggerated.
I live in northern ireland and entering the water makes me wary because im so scared of sharks and crocodiles and we have neither and in fact have no dangerous animals in water but there's always a little bit of who knows takes over me by water

A few years ago I went for a muck dive, to see some octopuses. The first one we saw was a big one, hiding in a jar, and our dive guide played with it and grabbed it. Later we saw two tiny cute looking octopuses, and I started playing with one of them, touching it and putting it on my hand. I heard the guide snap his metal stick on his oxygen tank and wildly signaling me to stop. He told me after the dive it were two blue dotted octopuses

For real! Imagine what it must be like to have a brain in all of your limbs!
Please keep this channel going. I look forward to every video
The Brave Wilderness crew are the only people willing to do this type of things
Nope, Brodie Moss does something like that too.
A bite from the octopus could kill 20 humans, but it would have to bite one human at a time, but one bite from a human could kill the octopus and probably a group of them, so who's really the deadlier animal?
The point is, if you get bit, you’re dead x20, so definitely dead.
@@BraveWilderness I know, I was just messing around. That being said, I could probably chomp about 4 of these at once
Ain't The Box Jellyfish "The Most Venomous Animal on Earth" ? 🤔
yes you are right this is also said by the National ocean service. the Australian box jellyfish sting can cause death in minutes.
You know you’re in danger when the blue rings actually light up. When it feels threatened and ready to use the venom the rings would light up giving you a warning. When he touched it the blue rings wasn’t lit up. It was just more so curious about the cube
The Blue Ring Octopus 🐙 is definitely one of my favorite animals
WOW! your crazy dude, very nice stuff. Sub for sure.
He just wanted to hold your hand 😂!
Fact Blue Ringed Octopus If You Touch It It Is Like Neurotoxin but it's not it's a tetrotoxin
That was the first time I actually got nervous for the
Brave crew
Blue ring octopus: I'm just a baby🤗😣😖💔
I honestly never saw a octopus or squid but mark lets me see this and Coyote and mark gives us a very educational life’s lesson just to observe from a very safe space and they show us what happens if u mess with it
The bite is so small you wouldn't feel it and you'd be dead within 5 minutes
I’m not even surprised that you did the challenge with the Blue Ringed Octopus. It was amazing to see Miller here also. Blue Ringed Octopuses are absolutely beautiful. Stay safe
What a video!!! This is a excelent video, because blue ring octopus is my favourite animal
What's next box jellyfish? mark: writes idea down
I can’t believe you interacted with two of the scariest aquatic creatures in Australia to me. Damn. I love the educational aspect of brave wilderness videos, thank you for going out there and informing your viewers with the actual facts and allowing us to see these amazing but terrifying creatures!
Yoo shoutout Miller Wilson! He has a great RUclips channel as well. I was not expecting this collab today.
I saw this video and thought damn they're really upping the danger level now. 😂 video title: "how long can I survive a blue ringed octopus bite"
You can tell he's nervous AF shaking whilst holding the cube 0_0 totally understandable
A tik toker did this and survived you know she survived it surprisingly she had no idea it would bite and was venomous I’m glad we are seeing brave wilderness do it such professionals than the tik tokers
This channel is dominating RUclips. Very popular and advertiser friendly. Smart!
He’s trying to die at this point.
There's no value in touching it. At least the stings are interesting. But this is like massaging a sea snake.
> Most venomous creature on the planet
> "I'm gonna touch it"
> Based
The blue ring octopi are definitely one of the creatures that yells "NO TOUCHIE!"
I haven’t watched you for ages, the last time I saw you before this most recently before this was just a couple weeks ago, but not your channel, hot ones, you look so different!! ☺️☺️☺️
As an aussie, My bpm immediatly jumped to 200 as i read the title
Mark: this animal has the venom to kill up to 20 people
Also mark: Ima touch it
Years later I come back and he is still risking his life for us. 😭
Thats ONE OF THE DEASLIEST SEA SPECIES EVER😮😮😊
My wife and I have caught 2 of them in the tidal pools of Nusa Dua, Bali. (minus all the drama) Same procedure using dip nets and plastic container to take pics. They often actively swim looking just like a small squid. Cheers!
One of the most amazing creatures on the planet.
Be kind to octopi. In other words, don't eat them. ❤
Agreed, they are genius. Please save the Octopi, even this little guy knows he is in trouble in that small square.
but calamariiii
squid and they are still very intelligent. do what you will but don't think there are no repercussions ;)@@notExpectionz
Every living being on earth existing.
This little blue ringed fellow: SO YOU HAVE CHOSEN DEATH
Genuinely enjoy the subtle differences from Mark and Coyote’s hosting. It is a very good contrast to the channel’s videos ❤ love from Puerto Rico
P.S. when are you guys coming to P.R. To film the coqui?😂
I had a pop up book as a kid ( maybe 5 or 6 yrs old) "deadliest creatures" , had a black widow, monocle cobra, and the last page was a blue ringed octopus, accompanied by stories the BR was about an Australian surfer that picked one up as it was beautiful and dropped dead walking up the beach...that book messed me up man lol. I collect venemous snakes and rare tree tarantulas, have an american alligator i take on leashed walks , and have had some pretty serious saltwater setups...THANKS MOM!!!! youve cost me about 300k over the years lol😅
Oh, and -> SICK VIDEO BROTHER
I LOVE MILLER WILSON ONG
Octopus is telling his friends "A giant monster put me in a box, then he touched me inappropriately."
While this animal is indeed deadly, none of the lists I looked at have it as #1. That honor often belongs to the box jellyfish.
I wish we could eradicate them all. I hate them.
To the guy who said its crazy that they collect their venom and their op,bro your right bro catched a mythical💀
It’s interesting to me that 3 of the 4 blue ringed octopus species have overlapping ranges, with the blue lined completely overlapping with the greater blue ringed. Wonder how they came to speciate and what if any niche partitioning there is?
Those blue rings are awesome
Amazing little creature that could turn your life into a horror movie. Respect nature!
This is a dude who knows EXACTLY what he's doing here. He's done all the research he could possibly do and, intentionally, is only barely touching this animal with enough venom to kill TWENTY of him.
Imagine all the people who have no idea about this octopus and have had the misfortune of accidentally stepping on one or picking one up, getting stung and thinking nothing of it then suffering the consequences
What a beautiful creature. Thanks for showing this little one. Hopefully we can all give this little one the respect it deserves.
