Also, thank you, JM, because after seeing his name for so long in your tourneys, when a video randomly popped up on my feed and I recognized the name, mr.mixtape, I decided to check him out. This was definitely one of the most entertaining tournaments I've watched on this channel, admittedly because of the nostalgia factor. I played this in arcades, and a friend had it for their Dreamcast. I don't know how many hours our group spent gathered around the TV, taking turns fighting in SC. I will say I was a bit disappointed that there were no Taki players in this tournament, but mostly because I was a Taki one-trick... but I was quite good at her within our group.

This is the first time I've watched you guys play anything and thought I honestly could have stood a chance in the tournament. I'm rusty but I could feel my fingers twitching with remembered button inputs as soon as you started.
some of the regulars are actually REALLY good. i dont go on there much but its ALWAYS a war with them. theyre on there nearly every day and discuss frame data and match ups on Discord so if I have a good run, a few days later I come back on and my previously successful tactics dont work as well as it did before
I'd love to see a Bushido Blade tournament someday. It was also on ps1, I completely forgot it existed but this video brought back so many memories. BB was so much fun, I sunk so many hours into it. The secret character was SO broken XD. Maybe the most broken fighting game character ever relative to the rest of the cast

*Dev:* We have enough resources to make one more character. We're thinking it can be somebody who randomly uses every other character's moveset, for the most advanced players to show off their skill.
*Exec:* Sounds good to me. Name him "Edge Master" because he's the master of all edged weapons.
*Dev:* But, sir! Strictly speaking, not every character uses an edged weapon.
*Exec:* No one will care about that. And besides, there's no way his name will be unintentionally funny in, say, 25 years.
*Dev:* Okay, that's... weirdly specific, sir.
I remember going on a 100 game win streak against my 4 cousins with Maxi one Saturday when this game was released. They weren’t nearly as big of gamers as I was, so I would usually purposely hold back or try to let them get close whittling my life bar down so that they would at least possibly win. They picked up on this and demanded that I stop toying with them.
They were a little salty. 😂

You should play Soul Edge - the first game in the series. (Then Soulcalibur came out, and then they stuck to that name, rather than making it a "Soul X" naming scheme.)
I’ve never actually seen Soul Calibur 1 played, It almost looks just like Soul Calibur 2 those graphics were ridiculously good. There’ll never be leap forward like that in graphics that isn’t some sorta creepy AI thing. Lol Romance of the Three Kingdoms was like the 200’s, but the book was written much later.
Damn I wish you I could have been a part of this tournament. The one time I could have placed in an online tournament.

Rock was in the series before Astaroth (he was in the very first game Souledge/Soulblade). As far as lore goes, when Astaroth was created, he was based on Rock.
I love Taki Sigfried and Mitsurugi were also tough! Hwang was also pretty good. This still might be the best SC fr lol

I just realised when I saw edge master that it must have been sc2 I played 1st. Soul edge the fiery skeleton guy was edge master. And cervantes was in it. he went hard

High damage game, but it's also fiendishly easy to run away and stall with a life lead thanks to the short timer, movement (shocking number of horis simply don't hit step at all), and guard being strong.
Did this game come after the game soul blade? I've always been confused in the relationship there.
This is the sequel to Soul Blade/Edge. I think they changed the name for the sequel to unify the name across all regions and platforms. There was worry that Soul Edge would infringe an existing trademark, so they renamed it from Soul Edge to Soul Blade when they released it for PlayStation.
Since it was Soul Edge in the arcade when I first played it, I thought Soul Blade was the sequel to Soul Edge. Turned out it was the same game, different name.

xianghua was my least favorite, she has a lot of juggles with her bullshit sword. if you say kilik is number one sungmina should be too because she has the same weapon. (ish)
