@Maxi Rios yes but not really. If you're already familiar with xenharmonics a bit, Zhea Erose's live about Primodality is really insightful but there's no channel on the same production level as them
Just found this - the musical and production quality of this channel is way higher than what you'd expect from the view numbers. You deserve a lot more. Keep at it! I've liked and subscribed.
Hey Owen, thanks! Yeah, it's actually really important to us! We're aware that lower quality would alienate people and they can't know it's the quality which is the problem and not the microtones.
And now, to sample the sound of coins, of varying amounts of cents collinding with various things only see what pitches/rythms are captured. This is my new favorite channel. Great stuff!!
Really looking forward to watching more content on this channel. I really hope Stu or some of the other songwriters from King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard can absorb some of this info -- they've been experimenting a lot with microtones in melody / riffs, but I haven't heard them use microtonality in a functionally harmonic way (no non-12 bass notes, at least that I could notice).
I'm soooo subscribed to your channel! You commented on my video about MPE/Jacob Collier. Unfortunately your comment does not appears in my comment feed by some weird YT related reason, so I can see it in my YT notifications but I can't reply...you mentioned your bachelor thesis about "In The Bleak Midwinter" - I'm VERY interested to check it out! I'm glad I found your channel - excited to learn more about microtonal modulations!
@@ramiolsen I found your comment in my email, and from there I got access to the link, still I cannot reply to it, and your comment does not appear in the comments of my video, but I got your thesis - reading it right now! Thank you very much! Amazing work!
@@MusicianParadise Awesome, I'm glad you're enjoying it! A lot of time has passed and I would probably interpret some of the notes in the transition as different overtones now, but the general idea and procedure would be the same. :)
@@ramiolsen digging through it, I'm quite new to the field of microtonal music but when it applied in such a musical way as in Jacob Collier body of work and in your excellent examples featured in your videos it makes a lot of sense !
@@albusking2966 I don't have anything yet, it was really a process of rearranging keys on a midi keyboard so that the pattern repeats with the octave at 17 and 19 keys (I've built two now) and with an easyish to memorise diatonic scale for more intuitive playing. The keys are more or less the same size so octaves are more of a stretch but it's satisfying to have notes that are consistently positioned as you move through the octaves.
@@HearBetweenTheLines It's more of a key re-arranging exercise with existing midi keyboards. One had removable keys with springs that could simply be sanded down to fit in new patterns. The other came in octave "blocks" that needed to be separated and modified to rearrange them. The key spacing is the same as 12TET but I've built one in 17 and one in 19TET, so octaves are a bit of a stretch...
Gut gemacht, Jungs! Als Araber bin ich immer auf der Suche, Harmonie in arabischen Melodien zu integrieren, ohne dass es verstimmt klingt. Habt ihr schon etwas in diese Richtung recherchiert?
Holy shat, what the flarp?! :D I was collecting information for some years (about all kinds of microtonal music) and wrote my BA Thesis about JC's microtonal modulations in his "In The Bleak Midwinter" and joined the Xenharmonic Alliance fb group and then I talked to Freddi about it and he was so into it, that... HBTL :D Yeah, I don't get how 31 is not the standard. It's really not THAT much more difficult to play - at least on guitar, haha
Probably for the same reason we talk with kids using words they don't know yet. Also, it's nice to zoom in or out on a certain topic in order to understand things a level up or down from where one is. The more one is exposed to concepts (especially ones one doesn't necessarily understand right away) the more one's mind connects the dots in the background laterally and unconsciously.

Such a beautiful video! The mirroring between the story telling and the concept is very elegantly executed! Thank you so much!

Totally, KGLW's music would be even more awesome with some modulations of this kind. How about you tell them? ;)

Fun video, looking forward to the next installment. What's the scale length of your guitar? I'm thinking of getting a 31-tone neck for my Strat.
66,5 cm and it's beautifully playable. I would highly recommend a 31-tone neck for your strat, it will make you happy.
