Hey guys, our next episode is going to be a very special one. For the first time ever, Steve Donziger agreed to a 3 hour sit down on camera to tell his story. Love this podcast!!!!! Paul is amazing! He's also totally right about the Mammoth cloning being overhyped. The dna they have is insanely fragmented/damaged and the hybridizing with an elephant will have all sorts of unpredictable genetic complications. Has there ever been a lab-created hybrid of an extinct animal that was successful at scale? They can't survive without learning from other mammoths and I don't think a mother elephant could teach a baby mammoth to survive in siberia. Also, something like 50% of all animals' bodies are made up of microscopic cells that do not share their dna. How would we bring back a healthy mammoth microbiome? There was an episode of episode of Steven RInella's Meateater with a geneticist working on Mammoths that went into it. Worth listening to. Thanks for the episode!!!

Amazing guest, Amazing host, Amazing podcast! So informative and entertaining. 10:30 Satin Bower Bird. Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi! . For birds with differences, see Eclectus Parrot.
Paul Rosolie reminds me of a good friend who sold his property on St Barth’s to move to the Costa Rican rainforest to help preserve it. Because of his creds & intention the CR government sold him a huge parcel of land in the forest with an existing structure fitted with modern amenities b/c he planned to open a scientific research facility. This buddy worked professionally with big cats and kept tropical birds (touracos, quetzals, etc) and rare orchids in Westchester NY before he left the states. It’s interesting b/c I’m from the same NYC neighborhood as Paul -Dyker Heights, Bklyn and my original career path was marine biology. Family dynamics kept me in the city after high school but I’ve retained all the info I’ve compiled since my (animal loving) childhood. Our lives were on a similar trajectory until high school when they diverged; he chose the “road not taken” and I admit to being a bit jealous. Amazing interview, you have a new subscriber & best wishes to Paul in all his future endeavors.
Near the end of the podcast, Paul said the uncontacted tribes have 7 foot arrows. Do they use these arrows only against outsiders? Or do they use them against something else too?

Good question.
