It's interesting what you said about farming being one of the most significant causes of destruction to the rain forest. I think your life's work to protect it is so noble - thank you 😀

Thank you for becoming one of the most important voices of our time. To address this issue is the ultimate show of respect for not only man, but all of the species, both plant & animal, whose imperative roles play a significant part in this planet's chances of future generational success. Bravo!

also according to my source.....our findings regarding forest fires worldwide, which show that only about 17 per cent are of natural origin, while Earth-humans are to blame for 83 per cent of these events. The fires are generally caused by Earth-humans as a result of carelessness, wantonness and negligence, as well as deliberate arson or recklessness.

I have to push back on the arguments against veganism around the 9:00 mark. Veganism isn't about being perfect. It's just about doing your best to minimize harm. And the soybean plantations aren't there to feed vegans. They are there to feed livestock! There hasn't been a massive global increase in the demand for tofu. But there is growing global demand for meat, and meat requires livestock, and livestock requires feed, and feed requires land.

Paul seems like he really cares about what he does. You have to want it BAD to scratch out a living in the Amazon. The jungle is unforgiving. And so are the tribespeople. 😂

9:47 Soybeans are grown largely for animal feed. So if humans reduced their dependence on eating meat, there would be less reason to grow soybeans.
35:25 There was a movie in 1985, (allegedly based on a true story) The Emerald Forest about a man who's son was kidnapped by Amazonian Indians. He bought gear including an AR15 and traveled to the Amazon. He found his son and traded the AR15 to an Indian chief for his son. The chief used the weapon to capture girls to trade to the loggers and miners for their brothels.

Great approach, captivating storyteller, modern-day adventurer - what a rare character in our dull and bleak modern day society! I'm just baffled though: How is he repeating the absolutely unfounded and time and time again disproven argument of 'vegans being the reason for soy production and subsequent deforestation'? The main reason is, with overwhelming empirical clarity, the use of soybeans for the increasing meat production and consumption around the world. I'm NOT a vegan, don't even advocate for being one. But that hogwash theory of tofu being the main driver of deforestation is just so embarrassing to hear out of the mouth of a well spoken, broadly educated and otherwise clever and wise man like Paul. Just makes me want to vomit/cry. I'm a ag-professional and have lots and lots of respect for Paul's work. But that tofu-argument is not only hurting Paul's own cause, it's also just scientifically wrong and hurts the direly needed protection discourse by gaslighting the public about deforestation and it's causes. But I guess it makes the joe-rogan-types happy, hope they at least invest some money into Paul's work in return. Ah yes, almost forgot - the deforestation and big-ag industry also gives you a thumbs up for blaming tofu👍🏻

You give Lula too much credit , some reports say the Amazon got worse since he came in .
If you came 17 years ago , and damage was being done , Lula was president or his hand picked sucsesor , Dilma

Interesting point, but difficult to judge...Don t let yourself be brainwashed by fox news and Bolltsonaro media's that are preparing their come back. We need deep transformation, true democracy(Referendum!) and it s happening when you get together and have a meaningful dialogue...

Like grizzly bears. Amazing animal. Important predator in the wilderness. But people, they can smell things miles away, swim, climb trees, can cover 50 yards in three/four seconds, crush your skull with one bite, open up your bowels with one claw swipe, have you for lunch, drag you away and cover you up for later munching, and suffer no guilt or regret. Stop with a little bear spray? Lol. Lesson: if you’re in the mountain west any further north than Colorado, never go hiking alone, without a powerful gun and large sharp knife and knowledge on how to use both, a basic wound kit, a location transponder, and, if possible, a sat phone. And that is just basic. Proper clothing for weather and weather changes, an extra gun, etc etc.
