    I have been using that exact model for about a year now. It works very well. Definitely a must have.

    I found your video comparing Icon and Snap-on wrenches to be highly engaging, but it appears to have been deleted from your channel? The test rig you constructed was remarkable, demonstrating superior engineering and development expertise. I was saddened to see such a valuable resource disappear. Thank you for providing another perceptive analysis of an exceptional product.

      I'll bring back that test rig, even update it. I took down the video because, although I meant it somewhat tongue-in-cheek, it attracted the ire of a gang of viewers who were not usual watchers of my channel. They did not feel the need to be polite if you know what I mean. I figured the video ran its course within its awkward contribution to the overall debate of the topic and would not be missed. But thanks for noticing!

    this would have been helpful training Daughter #1 when she got her drivers license. I spent more in replacement parts and garage door repair. Daughter #2 gets her license in December, so I think I'll be getting one.

    Whoa Doc, what's that Milwaukee 12v car adapter? I don't remember seeing that explained, would love to know more.

    How is the night vision? Can you do a follow-up?
    Campsite security is a use case that has been completely neglected by the security system manufacturers: a weatherproof battery powered wireless system that can be deployed in a couple minutes to provide continuous monitoring of my surroundings. I can’t be the only one who would use such a system - esp with a pan/tilt/zoom camera.
    Until then this may be a workable solution. Thanks for the review!

      There is no night vision. As a backup camera there would be external lighting available. I have external area lighting that illuminates my camper’s perimeter. It does do well in low light however.

    So if I understand correctly, the camera is not always transmitting the video, only when the screen is turned on? Otherwise the battery life couldn't be that long.

    • @lastbesttool

      Yes. There is a trickle of communication between the camera and screen and when the screen is activated, the camera turns in and transmits a video signal. All very cool!

    how long does the battery of the camara last, if I want to have a contnious view? Is the solar charger (at daylight) strong enough to keep the camara on at all time (during a lets say 8 hrs drive) And/or can I connect the camera to the 12V-System of my caravan / camper to get it contiously charged? Yes, I know, that I would downgrade the main adavantage of this, the 2wiresless" option. Can I switch the screen to continous mode? I want to use the backup-camera when drivin on the Autobahn here in Germany / Europe to make takeover easier, not just relying on the outer rear view mirrors (or to notice the the police that is driving behind me in the blind spot when speeding... uninteionally, of course)

      The camera battery life is seven hours without solar or backup battery connection. But there is a usb charging port on the camera so a power source could be connected to keep the camera in play longer. The system is designed to be used intermittently so the solar charger on the battery keeps the battery topped off. There is no continuous mode.

    I would like to use this setup for camp security when camping. So a few questions... can you use two cameras with one screen to display them? Split screen with both cams displayed would be one option but is there a way to switch between 2 different camera inputs? And I assume the camera can be mounted vertically (like on a tree with zipties) so can you rotate how the video is displayed on the screen, i.e. vertically mounted camera with horizontal display on screen? Lastly, how are the night vision capabilities? I would like to see something at night outside my tent without having to go outside. Thanks for any feedback!!

      Yes, there is a split screen model but it’s my old one. The solar model did not show the option for a split screen.

    But the camera only works if you can position it so that it can solar charge..?

    • @lastbesttool
      @lastbesttool  9 дней назад +1

      No, the solar panel keeps the onboard battery topped off. The camera could run for seven hours on battery alone.
