      Always have been a Delpo fan , I can't imagine his frustration with nagging tendinitis. Every tennis player has to deal with injuries but when it's your living it's much different. Would love to see Delpo win a major again even if it means beating Fed.

      Delpo is such a dangerous player - from BOTH wings - when he's healthy and in-form. It's just so difficult for that guy to stay fit and in match shape.

    • @Raidersscm

      Archibald Doogan I think they should change the seeding system because to have Delpo
      unseeded is a joke.

      @nicholass.d.6758 7 лет назад +17

      I believe he will be like Jimmy Connors - and reach a Grand Slam semifinal at age 39 - but then he'll win it, unlike Jimmy. Then he will meet Djokovic in the final - let's make it the US Open final - and Djokovic will be old and hobbled and it will have been a miracle that he even got to the final. It will be a battle of the old men, and Federer will still be moving like a rickety old cat while Djokovic will be limping and grimacing and holding his back and going off court for pain meds and injections in his hip, and then he will come back out and take more whooping. And it will be a raucous US Open crowd and a joyous celebration of the great man. ... Hmmm, now I just don't know what # of Major title it would be.

    Best sports man ever, living and active legend, Roger Federer, people some times forgot that 6 months out of courts for Roger is not vacations, is 8 hours hards work every single day, when on tour is the same, that why every one retire at 30, they are tire of that for years, but not Roger, at 35, 4 kids, beautiful wife, he inspire millions, he never loose hope, and he enjoying it. Congrats

      I think the reason for Federer longivity is his strong belief in his game and his abilities. Fed said that that thing that made him win the Fedal match was the fact that he played the ball rather than the opponent. and that is why the backhand stood tall. They say the spirit of a champion never dies.

    The most amazing match I've ever seen--not for skill and talent, but for drama, tension, all that was riding on it, and the significance of a man taking 6 mos. off of this precision-based, fine-tuned nervous system sport and climbing back to the top. I keep thinking of the time that Johnny Mac took some time off (as well as Borg) and tried to come back. It is SO HARD to reclaim that level of mental toughness and physical timing. RF in 2017 is nothing short of miraculous. Super-human in the truest sense.

    Most grand slams (4 ahead of the rest), most grand slam finals (7 ahead). most grand slam semis (10 ahead), most grand slam 1/4 finals (8 ahead), most grand slam matches won, most weeks at #1, in top 2, top 3.., most world tour finals (2nd in importance to grand slams)- and such brilliance, such style too. The greatest player, of course, and this is surely the greatest moment in tennis history.

      Wow you must be a REALLY casual tennis viewer to think Roger is level with Pete Sampras for GS titles. He broke that record in 2009 at Wimbledon. I don't think anyone in the world who watches sport, leave alone tennis, would have not heard about it when it happened.
      But yeah, Roger is at 18 GS titles, and Pete is at 14.

    I've always been a believer. 2017 is the year we've all been waiting for. His backhand is back on form if not better because of his wiser tactics with each man he plays. You can count the number of backhand slices he made against Nadal on one hand (that weren't defensive stretches) because he was completely offensive from start to finish. Murray failed to beat Mischa because he was reluctant to unleash, but Roger gave us an amazing display of the art of the passing shot off both wings. I can't even count how many amazing crosscourt backhand winners Federer made in this tournament. There were too many. Attacking Federer's backhand is now a poor tactic.
