The whole episode is about how Americans are so sick from food and sedentary lifestyle that they become dependant FOR LIFE, on an expensive drug. An expensive cop out, with unknown side effects (besides Ozempic face)
We need more people like Calley to speak out. It is absolutely appealing how our food in the US is treated. Nutrition has become significantly more complex here - there are so many factors that feel out of the consumer’s control that degrade our food quality
So true, I hate to be an attacker of the US, but the food here compared to Europe is like another planet. The bread (I gave up) here has about 10 lines of ingredients, bread in Europe has 4 ingredients total. Education is a huge issue as well, I once had someone tell me there is sugar in apples and I shouldn't eat them....
12:25 - @DrPal also highlights in his content about how there is no literature taught to med students on Nutrition. Therefore, majority doctors don't consider it before recommending any regime.
If every American planted 5 fruit and nut trees in their yard, it would provide a low maintenance and economical solution to America's food problem. Every street in America could be lined with fruit and nut trees.

Bro they’re not truth bombs. It’s a guy with great delivery sprinkling all the anti-med, anti-pharma talking points. If you’re overweight in America and you see a GP, the first thing they’re going to do is talk to you about diet and exercise. A family medicine resident(at Stanford, ironically) even set up an appointment for me with a nutritionist. The “system” may seem like it’s against diet and exercise and holistic health, but individual practitioners aren’t. The problem is patients wont diet and don’t exercise. So do you let these people rot until they end up in the ER? Or do you medicate them and improve their quality of life?
No clue how this episode relates to business.. but it sure scratches Sam and Shaans itch.. and is a great episode.. great questions guys.. also intro was 🔥

A lot of anecdotal evidence from his sister and unsubstantiated claims. It was hard to take them seriously after they said Johns Hopkins University was named after John D. Rockefeller, Sr. (14:18). It's named after Johns Hopkins...
