Great footage of a once greater place. Reduced traffic and vastly reduced track layout. I used to stand beside the old control building that has since been flattened. You can still see the base of the building beside the 90s. And it was once all sidings where the container yard is now.
Thanks very much 👍 That does seem like a typical theme for most of the major UK rail yards from years gone by.. Much reduced now and a shadow of their former glories.
I was only last week watching some 1980’s vids of Mossend Yard on You tube. Triple header 37’s pulling out with heavy coal trains. I know all freight yards look very different (that’s if they still exist) nowadays but it’s still a shock to see such a reduction in tracks. 😢
Fantastic. Just as you promised in previous video's some more Scottish Depots and yards. Mossend is close to my home in Coatbridge, can litterly see the area in the background. Amazing views of Mossend yard/ Eurocentral. Thanks for the video. Look forward to other's from around the U.K.
Great video. I was last there in 1990 when triple headed 37’s thrashed out on loaded MGR! Just curious though why you didn’t go to far end of yard, I think that’s where you used to be able to park up, and where I photographed the 37’s. And finally, noticed all the 90’s are facing the same way (looking at the pantograph layout on the roof) - that can’t be a coincidence can it?! 🤔
What is this, a yard that is not a weed raddled waste land? What is this mystical place? Can mortals visit it and worship at the spectacle of actual revenue freight trains, not just road building and mow trains?
9 x 90's...must have been a weekend. Some great views of Mossend. Remember being there in the very early 90s seeing some proper traction back then.
Hi Steve, it was a week day visit. I was surprised so many were sat there also.
@@trainsplanes just lucky then to catch them all before some headed south.
Nice to see this one, living as i do just under an hour away and a regular filmer of nearby Holytown. Thanks and keep them coming.
Thanks Colin.. Will do - Plenty to follow over the next few weeks. 👍
Fantastic to watch. Used to know Mr Stirling that owned most of the filmed area. He was a lovely man who is now with his God.

Quite often go up to the FL stabling point the car (the car pen at the sign on point is still a public road. Always good to see some 90s
Mossend Euroterminal and the PG Sterling terminal in this video. Nice !
I only ever passed Mossend when working the Edinburgh to Motherwell via Shotts.
I go for walks from the clay crescent to the yard from the old bing I didn't know it was so large

Hi Phil, there was better visibility from the end of the yard I filmed at so more scope to fly the drone in a wider area 👍
Looking forward to you visiting Wales, would love to see Cardiff Canton and Margam Yards from above!
Fantastic video, you should do the east Lancs railway
Thanks Connor - I’ll get some footage when there is a gala/event on. 👍
@@trainsplanes sounds good, nice to see overhead of baron street and the sheds at bury Bolton street station 👍
Hi, this video was amazing. Also, is it possible if you can do Leeds Midland Road?
Yes - Will do.. I’ll be up there in the next couple of weeks.
@@trainsplanes Thank you very much!
What's the blue unit sat next to all the 90s?
Hi, that’s the Varamis Rail unit - 321334 👍
