    i use same oil love it ! By the way after you drain all oil from bottom try plug then you are supposed to remove filter and oil can when you add oil that way the moust of old oil leakes out. you can even shake atv a little to get even more old oil out. But great video man. pretty atv. I have 2007 arctic cat 700 EFI love it

      Steve Fox I'm not familiar with that machine, but typically you would fill a differential to the bottom of the fill hole, until it starts to trickle back out.

    Did you put oil in the new filter before you put it back on?

    • @Becherscandoservicesllc
      @Becherscandoservicesllc 3 года назад +1

      It's upside down so if you want to lose most the oil you put in it and make a mess! No need to just oil the seal up!

  • @Belder4
    @Belder4 7 лет назад

    Does the oil cooler drain using this procedure?

    • @Maineyak
      @Maineyak  7 лет назад +1

      John Belderes No, this will not drain the tubes and cooler, however the volume of oil left behind isn't that great. it's not necessary to flush them unless they are contaminated.

  • @brojamessistertrise5289
    @brojamessistertrise5289 4 года назад

    Stripped the drain plug. Got any suggestions?

    • @Maineyak
      @Maineyak  4 года назад

      I would check your local Napa or Carquest, they should be able to match up the thread pattern and usually offer some slightly oversize plugs that are tapered on the end and fluted so they cut new threads. Or search online for oversize drain plugs if you can find out what the original thread pitch is.

    Hi Maineyak - at the dealership today they sold me Arctic Cats brand of oil and told me to not use any other oil because of how the machine filtrates the oil while running. Of course it was a $40 one gallon jug. I notice that the Valvoline 10w40 is only $4.00 a quart, so $16 per gallon. Are you certain that this is okay to put in an Arctic Cat? If so, I was mal informed by the dealer and robbed $24 bucks!

    • @Maineyak
      @Maineyak  7 лет назад +8

      Dane Broome The dealer will always recommend its own products, but it is not required. It could be a company like Valvoline that actually makes the oil for Arctic Cat. I have decades of parts experience and selling motor oils. Most oils of today are even better than what was on the market 10 or more years ago. The most important thing is to just always change your oil on time. Hope this helps!

    • @NLINE7
      @NLINE7 6 лет назад +2

      Some stealerships, I mean dealerships will do just that, say you have to use the manufactures brand oil for said brand manufactured bike you have or it's the end of the world for your bike. They are marking up the price on the oil on people that do not know any better.I heard one salesman tell a customer oh that's a synthetic oil you got there in your hand if you use it in your bike you'll have to stay with it because you cannot switch back to conventional oil after using a synthetic oil, because if you do you'll have all kinds of oil related problems with your bike,that's freaking b.s. and a myth.
      If you read the owners manual most manufactures recommend their own brand of engine oil or a equivalent oil spec to use, another words what ever brand oil you buy you want it to be the same specs aka motorcycle/atv oil, do not use regular car/pickup oil, it's not designed/specked to be used for wet clutches that most atv's have. I use Rotella 5w-40 synthetic oil in my 2008 Arctic Cat 650 H1 4x4 and Rotella 15w-40 in my 2005 Suzuki Eiger 4x4 I also use the Rotella 15w-40 in my Dodge Cummins diesel and I have used it in my wife's gasoline car with no problems. On the back of the gallon jug of Rotella it will say JASO-MA approved meaning it's specked to use it in motorcycles or atv's also. Best thing is do your research first on your manufactured brand of atv so you don't get ripped off by marketing tactics.

    To check level u start bike let run for 3 to 4 min then u shut off for 3 min then u check level. Also u don't rev the motor u let it idle. Next time u take your car for oil change watch them change the filter there not going to lube the gasket LOL unless a newbe not to be rude I get it your trying to do it the right way..
