I'm from Medan. One good advice for us. To maximize the experience we can come to the forrest in summer instead rainy season. In rainy season the river is flooding and become murky due to the rain and excess from land nearby. But in summer we will see the water reflecting the blue color of the sky.
We have been your channel subscriber from early days. We saw it grew. Have not commented very much. But this time we must say in writing, how very nice.... This is arm chair travel at its best. Thanks for your hard work we travelled with you to see wonderful orangutans and other species. The Indonesians are doing their best to preserve them. Many kudos. We can't wait for the next video. Regards
Bukit Lawang is the touristy version of orangutan trekking (not very touristy). If you want to really get off the beaten track and see truly wild orangutan, rather than ones released a few years ago and semi-wild, go to Ketambe. But if you do so, it takes a full day to get there. I found it totally worth it. I also did it myself rather than with a tour company. It IS doable, and very very inexpensive.
Wonderful rainforest walk you took there. I took many similar walks in the Amazonian rainforests in Ecuador and Peru, in the Peten rainforest in northern Guatemala, and in the rainforests in Costa Rica and Belize. The sounds, smells, and other sensations of the rainforest are entrancing.
Sumatra is magical! I feel so fortunate that I got to go there at age 23, in early 1994. I regret that I didnt do any orangutang trek. In 2009 I did it it on Borneo though.
Absolutely amazing! Loved this adventure and I don’t miss any of your videos! Also, thanks for sharing about your family a bit! Since I have followed you from the very beginning, I feel like I know you and appreciate hearing more about your own background. What an experience!
Ah, that’s nice to read and means a lot. It’s great to hear you watch every one. Perhaps I’ll talk more about myself in the future - maybe a Q&A session at some point or just some more laid back videos talking about my background (if people are interested of course).
Very inspiring! It’s on my bucket list to visit a rainforest. I really need to find my balls to do some international traveling! Thanks for taking us along for the journey!
I loved this video, the orangutans, monkeys, owls, maushrooms, the sound of the river and rain, everything was just amazing. Thank you so much for sharing it with us and have a nice trip!
Jason, that was such a fantastic adventure...thank you so much! I really enjoyed the very unique climate/nature that you experienced on your tour. Your photos and commentary were both very enjoyable and informative. Great work sir! Now, just want to wish you a Happy Christmas, and Happy New Year back in England! Enjoy your time back home! Cheers!
WOW - i saw this on my Big Screen TV - this was awesome especially how the guide dodged the rocks in the river floats - absolutely amazing- thanks for showing us the animals upclose !❤
What a wonderful educational video! Thank you for taking me along! I could never physically go on a trek like that. Travel videos like this are so special. The orangutans were amazing 😎
I love this pristine, beautiful nature. It seems to me that more comfortable tents, public toilets &more rubbish bins , should be provided by the local government/the management, for the visitors. Thanks so much to Jason for sharing this lovely vlog from North Sumatera. Enjoy your adventure, Jason! Many thanks for visiting Indonesia. Take care. Have A Merry Christmas 2023& A Happy New Year 2024. Best regards . 😊
I have been a long time follower and subscriber of yours and I must say I thoroughly enjoy all your videos. I have never missed one and you definitely are one of my most favourite travel vlogger and the places you choose to travel and stay in are absolutely amazing and pristine
Fantastic trek Jason it brings back fond memories of Bukit Lawang I have visited many times since 88'. I noticed the Hull City shirt. Hull has a great Rugby League team too that us Aussies respect. Looking forward to seeing Lake Toba. A warm Horas from me . Cheers, Willy
Hi Jason. Thank You for Sharing your travel Experience with us. This is not my itinerary for a Holiday, but I’ve enjoyed watching this Rainforest documentary.
As someone who lives in a village in North Sumatra, I am fascinated by cities, especially the American city of Chicago, I often spend hours watching 4K walking city in Chicago, on youtube
Thanks for sharing, I think my days of trekking in the Amazon are in the distant past. Glad to sit back and watch though. The tubing I might be able to handle!! LOL
Sayang tdk ke Takengon melalui jln b melewati gunung Sala kita dpt mendengar orang Utan berteriak dan menggema, saya yg di Acehpun sangat kaget. Berdiri lama mendengarnya.
What an adventure. I couldn't help but notice that the other travelers had bare skin showing. Do you know if any of them got leaches or insect bites? You've done it again...an amazing video!
I saw another guy get a leech on his neck. I heard of a girl who got leeches all over through her socks because she didn’t use mosquito spray underneath. That seems to be the main factor, not just the covering of skin.
Jason I found this video to be utterly thrilling...😒...I mean the first citing of snakes would've hasten my return back to my room. Bur you prevailed to give us yet another spectacular video 👏👏👏/⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I never miss one of your videos and of course it’s a like or a “love”❤ Awesome adventure Jason. Orangutans look depressed or confused, but hey they have the right😊
Hi, I’ve done booked into this tour, the 3 day one, in April from watching your video. Any recommendations on what I should pack for the trek. Also I either have my small 15L day back pack or my 60L pack. Do you think I need to a different pack for this trip? 😊
Even better, if you go from Banda Aceh to Takengon, enjoy the FreshWater Lake, then go to Gayo Lues, there you can stay at Green Sinebuk, and you can see the orangutans there, through a tour guide there, the Leuser Mountains are part of the world's lungs, where Leonardo Di Caprio has been there too, then after that you can go to Subulussalam in Aceh Singkil, and take a ferry boat to Banyak Island, you can go diving there, then after that you can go to Simelue Island using a Susi Air plane or via boat where there are surfing spots are there, there are also lots of stories. The tsunami there, where they were near the epicenter of the earthquake, was sorry, but with God's permission they could be a disaster, but from that tsunami there were few victims.
I’m glad to hear you like the videos. I was moving continents the last week so it was hard to edit this monster video. I’m aiming to upload more often next year, as opposed to just once a week.
@@JasonBillamTravel Oh ok, I'm happy to hear that because I love your channel. It's great. I hope you visit every country in the world. Take care of yourself, don't risk your life. I love you, my friend. ❤❤❤❤

He cought so many snakes and lizards by hand when i was there, even got bitten by one and when the hand got a bit red i asked if he was ok? He said, no worries i have cobra in my blood 😂

My husband and I stayed there and did a jungle trek to see the Orangutans about a month ago. It was amazing!
Did you hook up with the other trekkers?
