@@ramenlover1727 yes I see your point also. I spent countless hours on a payphone because my mom was noisy and I couldn't stand it, she was a control freak and narcissist I saved my change just for that it's terrible when you can't have a private conversation with friends on the telephone. I listened in on hers and it was pathetic in how she made herself a victim to family members.
I do remember payphones and would love to see them again!, it was a great way to call a number you are not sure who was calling you!. Also helpful if scammers call your phone, using a payphone to call them back!
I saw one yesterday at downtown Boston, I was staring at it and didn’t have any coins, but I played with it. Now a days, these payphones are replaced by Wi-Fi Kiosks
Remember in Futurama Fry Goes into a Suicide Booth thinking it was a PayPhone and said Id like to place a collect call. The Voice said U chose to Die quickly and painless thank u and have a nice day
Guess what? They will watch hundreds of Movies with Pay Phones in them...🤷♂️ Pretty sure they can grasp the concept of a public phone that you pay to use from watching a movie... 🤷♂️
The only reason no one using them because others rather use the cell and gain free service which the pay phone is better when you need to use the phone and the ones who cut them are the ones who wanted to to take the phones down . It is stupid to get rid of them and should be brought back in small towns
Just because we have newer digital run mobiles/cellphones, doesn't mean analogue machines should be removed. If your digital services suffer badly from hacking or a major Carrington Event, you'll be wishing there was an older back up. Convenience will be our undoing.
We have them still in Grand Rapids Michigan Stores put them in or outside the Stores because not everybody can Afford a SmartPhone Actually Police managed to capture evidence in the earlier 2000s A Stalker was busted when evidence showed he used PayPhones thinking it would be hard to find anybody that way He even used PrePaid cards as well. U see a guy who worked at a bank used his position to scare 3 news anchors by calling them nonstop qouting back personal info about them, He was arrested and is in Jail, Since then All Anchors were transfered to other TV Stations, He would see a Female News Anchor and become so much in love with them ( he thought it was love) that he felt the need to be with them, That guy was sure lonely to want to do that, Will he ever change when his Jail time is over? Oh yeah the Bank Fired him before he went to Jail after the Bank found out what he did

They could help people who are homeless and can't afford their smart phone bill.
Well, pay phones have been obsolete for well more than a decade now, soooo this feels like old news.

It's more exciting getting that ransom drop off information from a pay phone though!
