Pretty sure that little triplet pattern you’re talking about at 2:50 is actually Henrik. (Although Aron might have doubled it?) Henrik throws these triplet figures in all over the place. Amazing. Also, at 9:49, check out what Aron is doing during Henrik’s crazy slap solo!

@@bobcieslinski Yep, good point. Those triplets are all Henrik all throughout the song, not a drum fill. It just pulsates so well with what Aaron is laying down. I loved the reaction but the audio quality wasn't the best in this video compared to the Thriller reaction video. I love how you can appreciate their musicianship! Keep up the good work. Oh, one more thing before anyone gets offended by it lol Henrik is a Swede not German so his name is not pronounced as Heinrich but Henrik (hen-rick)...the Swedish language even rolls the "r" but that's ok. Are you going to do a Turbo reaction video also?

Here's a video where Henrik demonstrates how he does the fast triplets on the bass. It's a combination of slap, hammer on, and pluck on different strings.

A couple suggestions for other DL songs: As stated by Daniel below: Hit me is a great one with a now-famous vocal scat by Jonah at the end that defies gravity. And also a long-time favorite of mine, and one of their earliest RUclips videos, I believe, is their take on Baby by Justin Bieber. It is a chordal interpretation that is glorious ear candy from first bar to last. Thanks again, Bob!

Excellent reaction my friend and I can see by the look on your face that you indeed have been loopified. There is one more video from the Turbo album that uses this set and features Cory and the Loops. It is called eponymously "Turbo" and is just a great wall of classic Tower of Power style funk. It's just instrumental but as a lover of real funk myself you just don't get this kind of full on, stank faced funk but once in a blue moon. Highly Recommended.

Almost all Conns, #1 tenor is a NWI from 1922, back up is a Pan Am from 1954. #1 Alto is a 6m from 1957 and back up is a NWII from 1927. All were previously played by my late father! Dirty Loops is a music university project, they just jammed together for practice reasons and started re-harmonizing/re-calibrating Pop songs for fun. I wish there were reactors out there who would take in the entire song once through without interruptions, and then go back and go thru it bit by bit with analysis. This isn’t a “reaction” - it’s a blind analysis.

For me, (frustrated wood chopper that I am) this amazing tune is only possible due to the Solid pocket that Aaron keeps. (With ample flare) There are plenty of spots where the whole thing could go horribly wrong and lose that pocket. How many bands change key at the end of a song? Maybe your next one should be "Work Shit Out", or "Next To You". I gotta say, it's been a long, long time since I got SO excited about a new band. Well, new to me.... having only taken this plunge in the last 6-8 weeks, and learning more about these cats, I have become a total 72 year old fanboy. They seem to really "get it"!!! It's about making and enjoying The Music! OK, OK, OK.... I'll get off my soapbox.
P.S. The woodwinds are from Cory's touring band, the horns were with Prince. All of them under the Quincy Jones umbrella. Including Dirty Loops.

Linder is one of the baddest players on the planet IMO (granted I'm a saxophone player haha). But if you dig further in their catalog you'll find he has great jazz chops as well. Look for a NAMM video where he's covering Giant Steps. Glad you have arrived at Dirty Loops (and their collabs) - life changing.

Nice vid! If you’re looking for innovative guitar playing - how about some solo bass - and what’s been described as the worlds greatest ever bass solo? Especially when it’s solo fretless bass - with constant tuning changes, double E-bow playing and harmonic chords? If that’s the case, then I’d love you to react to the most innovative bass player alive - Michael Manring - and his tune “The Enormous Room”. This version is from the Canadian Guitar Festival and he uses part of his tune “Adhan” as an intro, then some improv bass chords before starting the Enormous Room. Totally unique - and absolutely mind blowing! ruclips.net/video/YUYGChaQqj0/видео.html

Suggestion: Work Shit Out with Dirty Loops

  • @christian53050

Constructive criticism: Not good video sound quality for the Dirty Loops video, very muted. The bass players name is pronounced: "hen", (like a chicken) plus the syllable "rik"(like in rick-sha), Hen-rik. Your pronunciation is something like it would be in German, Heinrich.

Quincy Jones is just their manager though, as they produce everything themselves, with he help of Simon Petrén. I've heard one of them say, in an interview, that they don't send QJ anything at all, not even demos, until they're all done. Dirty Loops was formed back in 2008, when they were in music college together, and that was the drummer's idea. Also, long before QJ even knew they existed. And this particular collab album was Cory Wong's initiative.
