I mean to take absolutely nothing away from any other musician on stage with Henrik, but sometimes I swear that half the reason Dirty Loops is so popular is because they actually have the balls to let the bass be heavily present in the mix. There are some phenomenal bassists out there, but they're rarely given such a spotlight like this. It's incredible.
The musicianship of all of these guys (including Cory Wong and his Hornheads) is off the charts. I think the thing that makes Dirty Loops, Cory Wong, and Vulfpeck so amazing and tight is that none of them allow their ego to get in the way. They're all highly technical and gifted musicians, they all know it, and they all genuinely respect eachother's abilities and they all truly like each other. You can see the joy on their faces when they play and it's infectious. And Grace Kelly's stank face is everything.
I wasn’t expecting that whatsoever!!!!!! Drummer was fantastic, vocalist was great but that dang bassist was freaking awesome!!!!! Definitely get more Dirty Loops my friend!!!!!! Your reaction was absolutely priceless 😳😳😳 😊😁😂🤣😂
Quincy Jones is just their manager though. They produce their songs themselves, together with Simon Petrén. I heard one of them say, in an interview, that they don’t send Quincy anything, not even demos, until it’s completely finished. They’re mad as hatters and it’s utterly brilliant. 😁
@@markprater1 I'm sure it's made as an MJ tribute, and is supposed to sound a bit like him, but if you ask me it doesn't sound like it actually IS an MJ sample, but rather something they've created in some other way. And even if it is a real sample, it doesn't change the fact that QJ isn't their producer in any way. He's still just the manager. I'm sure they could have gotten a sample either way, if that is what it is.
Work Shit Out, Rock You, and Breakdown, are all must listens! There's so much musicality going on but yet it manages to retain that pop accessibility. To me they show that you can write complex music and still have be grooving and fun and catchy, reminds me a lot of how dense someone like Prince's music was etc
In terms of musical arrangement, I think Next To You is a better pick than Work Shit Out. Work Shit Out shows their musical skill well, but I think Next To You was just written better (the way it spans genres too). Either song is great though! Don't get me wrong. Breakdown and Rock You are also awesome!
No one is prepared for Dirty Loops on first listen! Insane skills as a 3-piece then add in Cory Wong with the rhythm guitar and the horn section... it just gets better!
@Dirtyloops are all incredible. Henrik is truly a bass genius but let's not forget the immense talent both drummer and keyboardist have. So so tight. Insanely talented all of them.
Just in case you didn't know, they actually recorded this in two separate studios on different continents with the same sets and cameras. When you see Corey and everyone "reacting" to the Dirty Loops guys- they're not actually there, and vice versa. Absolutely stunning visual production on this, not to mention the monster musicians.
That's bonkers. I guessed it wasn't a single take with a few overdubs here and there but I assumed they were at least in the same room. That makes this even more impressive.
That opening is such a shot of adrenaline, and so ballsy. Very *very* few *musicians* could even live up to that intro, and they've got an entire BAND that blows the roof off. It's the kinda song that leaves you sore from how much grooving you do while you're listening I'm really enjoying classical stank face. Your enjoyment is super earnest, and I really appreciate it.
Loved your reaction. Great when a reactor listens to something more than once-shows he's really paying attention. Big Loops fan here. You're going to get a lot of requests, just know this. There are NO bad Loops songs. They are all unique and I've never heard a bad one. Welcome to LoopsWorld.
Great reaction. You MUST do more Dirty Loops. They've got such epic material and you'll love all of it. I suggest "Work Sh!t Out", "Rock You", and "Next to You" in particular. I loved the way you grooved with this. They always leave you wanting more. Also, the credits can sometimes be long, but they're worth reading because they put some funny stuff in them quite often. Lastly, I love your shirt.
Hahaha your reaction to that final key change.. I was waiting for it through the whole video! Love the way you picked it up with such ease. Says a lot about your own ability.
I read under the originally posted video of this tune that the two halves of the band weren't even on the same continent, much less the same room! Just good editing and identical staging!
WORK SHIT OUT is the definite Dirty Loops track. Just the three of them (no Cory Wong, no horns - don't need them!!!). Super track, highlights every member - will BLOW YOU AWAY!!!
All 3 Dirty Loops were classically trained at the Stockholm Royal Academy of Music where they were friends. They compose first on paper then go into the studio.
From one Doug to another, I am glad that you discovered and chose to review this. I provided financial support and helped them produce the “Turbo” album. That horn section is Cory Wong’s horns, known as the Wongnotes. The entire album is fabulous.
@@dougmael oh hey, whatever you did, thanks for helping get this stuff out into the world!! I've watched others do a reaction to Dirty Loops but your video was the best. You have true excitement listening to the group. I've never seen anyone try to figure out the chord progressions like you did during the video. Well done, and entertaining.
Just subbed! I love watching reactions where the reactor is musically educated and can break it down to the nitty gritty! It’s only three in the band, no guitar, no sax, no trumpet , and for me it’s "normal" for a jazzy trio.
