What do you think they’ve been doing to Black Americans for decades?! They have to keep the private prisons at capacity to make money. Until we get rid of private prisons this will always be an issue and they’ll keep filtering through different communities. I noticed that even more white people are starting to experience what we have for generations. No one is free until we all are!

Justice Sotomayor just said something similar regarding another immunity claim. All of us live every day with the backdrop of consequences. This is what establishes us as a law and order society. Now give virtually unlimited power to people with no consequence. And this is the inevitable outcome.

sounds more like someone didn't like the guy and LIED to police in order to get him arrested and being the low-intelligent people they usually are, the police decided to fabricate charges in order to get him in jail, regardless of whether or not he was going to eventually actually STAY in jail, since they knew they didn't have any actual evidence.... like police like to say, 'you may beat the charge, but you'll still take the ride'.. meaning they can punish you if they don't like you, EVEN IF they already know that the charges will never stick... they can arrest you, strip search you, cavity search you, and cage you with other violent criminals, which increases the likelihood that you'll be assulted while in jail, AND it'll be on your record for any potential background checks... so they get to punish you and MOST times, NOTHING is done back to the police that ILLEGALLY do this to citizens. they get promoted instead and teach other cops that this is acceptable behavior and thus the cycle is continued... and people wonder why so many now hate cops....

So an anonymous person calls in a tip, the police investigate and find no evidence of a crime or that the tip even had any credibility. So then they decided the next step was to make arrests, have multiple press conferences and claim they thwarted a terrorist plot based on the evidence they didn't find. With only consequence for the lies being the chief resigning, and I expect he just moved to a different town to be chief or retired with his full pension. It's difficult to decide if it's down to malicious intent or incompetence but ego is definitely a big factor.

There are a lot of people saying nasty things about cops as a result of this. I think the other side is that they received a complaint of a possible shooting, responded to that complaint, gathered evidence, presented a warrant affidavit to a judge, and made an arrest after a judge decided that probable cause existed and actually issued a warrant. Warrants are based on probable cause which is considerably less evidence than that needed to convict a defendant in court. Prosecutors decided that they could not prove beyond a reasonable doubt that this defendant intended to commit a mass shooting so they did not charge him with this. Instead, he was convicted of a firearms violation and was sentenced to prison as a result. People would have been outraged had the police not taken an allegation of a mass shooting seriously.
Based purely on this video, it sounds like the chief of police significantly and publicly overstated the case against this suspect. People in these kinds of positions are politicians. They have a tendency to overstate their accomplishments and understate their mistakes. This appears to have cost him his job.
With the sole exception of the chief’s statements, the handling of this incident arguably demonstrates the system working as intended. Law enforcement investigated, obtained an arrest warrant, and a suspect was convicted of a crime he did commit but not convicted of a crime for which insufficient evidence existed.

In America?! Seriously?! How many people were actual citizens of this country when the 2nd amendment was written? The constitution is not a permission slip just for US citizens. It is a statement of principles. All men are created equal and are endowed with inalienable rights by the creator. See how that statement alone encompasses all of us.

Second, you clearly don't care about the border since you don't even understand the problem with it. You're a complete joke of a person. Hyper suspicious is good law enforcement in a country like China or Russia. But it is flat out useless in a police force for a country based on individual rights and freedoms.

@@alexritchie4586 Especially when suspicion can see you arrested with ramifications of possibly losing your job, house/apartment, and/or vehicle and then cost you hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars in legal fees only to finally find out it was never true. Now it is damage done and now you have nothing and if qualified immunity stays in place you can't even sue. Got to love suspicion...

Apparently, my reply was removed. So, I will repeat the obvious.
Hyper-suspicious is how "law enforcement" works in countries like China or Russia or North Korea.
It is not acceptable for "police" in a free society to be hyper suspicious. That's why we have so many "constitutional audits" going on, legal activity being treated as criminal.
