    I would love to see a in depth unifi access tutorial from start to finish, what to do with doors, locks, readers etc.!

    Great improvement from the beta access equipment I got to use 5 years ago. I would have liked to see a 12 or 16-port switch with SFP uplinks, but it probably comes down to them looking at statistics of how many installs only use entry readers because of the cost and fire safety push bar exit.

      Why use low voltage like that can’t you just run a single car 6 to each door and have it branch off there!!

    question, for the door position sensor. can you use the protect all-in-one sensor from Ubiquiti. I know it functions as a door sensor as well, but i am pretty sure it's wireless. so I want to know if it actually integrates into the door access systems as well.

    Regarding battery backup. Does the Enterprise access hub cache credentials so that in a power loss scenario readers still work or if Unifi Gateway is down will they not have access.

    Are you able to schedule future door unlocks? For example, part of our building is always secured, but there is a large training center that outside groups can book for various events. I want to schedule the front and back doors to be open during those future events based on the date and time the space is booked.

    I'm wondering if the 12v outputs can be remotely triggered and if the switch can be used to power poe cameras instead of readers. I have a project were I just need 8 12v0.5a sources to open and close valves for a few seconds and need cameras. not exactly the designed use but it would be perfect for this.

    Cody did you do a video on the new PDU yet? They have a 42U PDU coming (to Canada). I just wish they would also make a 24U. I am not a big fan of the 19" PDU as I have two APC's which connect to two APC PDU's (24U each) which saves a lot of room in the rack. I will share the picture with you one of these days. :)

    I don’t understand this product because you have to run so many wires from there to each door. But if you use individual door controllers you only need to run one cat6 to each door and all the other wires are local to the hub/door.

    • @AdrianSchwartzmann
      @AdrianSchwartzmann 7 месяцев назад +9

      This is how a lot of the other companies do access control hardware. Even more so in the past. So if you are switching to Unifi you already have all the wires run so this would help make the transition easier.

    • @krisclem8290
      @krisclem8290 7 месяцев назад +7

      It's common for companies to run all their access controls to one place.
      It also helps with tampering. With multiple hubs, you would have to make sure each hub is secured. With a central system you can just put it in one secure spot.

      My residence needs 6 locks. I’d much rather use a single unit than by $1200 worth of individual hubs and have to build individual battery back ups into every wall.

    Where can I find more information on this? I have a client with multiple locations I would like to incorporate this system in, however, one of the location has more than eight doors. Is there somewhere that shows a complete breakdown of all components necessary for running multiple sites? The Ubiquiti website is not very clear, even with the design tool.
    Thanks

    Is there any switch that can be added to initiate a lockdown mode. I have seen in the past that the current implementation requires a password re-entry to lockdown. In a situation where a lockdown is needed you really would not what someone fumbling with a password.
    Also I heard unifi was going to start charging for their "Access" per user per month did they end up not doing that. Its hard to find out from their website.

    Thanks! Can you use CAT cable for the mechanical release units? So each door would need 3 CAT runs (inside reader, outside reader, release). Any anyone modernized the cable management for door access yet?

  • @EtherialFusion

    The fact that the enterprise hub does not fully support 8 doors with readers in and out is very dissapointing. They should have added the extra 4 ports for this, seems almost like a design flaw, or worse, a way to force customers to buy more units. Was going to buy this because i have to use it on many doors. Could you perhaps make a tutorial/video on the best way to open doors without a reader? Thank you, love your content. Greetings from Norway.

    • @ropiko
      @ropiko 7 месяцев назад

      Why would you need to have a reader to go out? You can use a simple push button to unlock a door if a magnet is used or just a door handle when it’s a strike lock.

    • @EtherialFusion
      @EtherialFusion 7 месяцев назад

      @@ropiko In my scenario I was going to use a reader to enter and exit, that was how the access kit I bought from Ubiquiti was intended to be used. Ofcourse, using a simple switch will be easier and also be more cost effective. When you say door handle, do you mean a special type of handle that retracts the locking bolt when pushed down from the non-secure side? Do you have an example of a product like this? Thanks.
