On Thursday night, House Democrats joined Republicans leaders to advance critical security funding for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan, paving the way for final passage on Saturday with a strong bipartisan vote of 316-94.

Speaker Mike Johnson is not a patriot who understands the necessity to help our allies when it matters most and the urgency behind it because if he did then he and the rest of the house republicans would have gotten this legislation passed the first time . The fact that the speaker is doing his job now doesn't make him a hero by no means.

When he first got the speakership and they were calling him "MAGA Mike" I was disheartened so this change does give me a tiny smattering of hope that he will continue to do what is right and advance that border bill Trump had him table. 🙏

We have 2 bridges being fixed here, more jobs, and the minimum wage has increased and will continue to. Broadband to rural communities. The CHIPS act bringing the manufacture of semiconductors back to the USA. Insulin capped at $35 per vial, down from $200+. (Further legislation will be sure seniors on fixed incomes only pay $2,000 per year out of pocket.) They got a handle on the post-pandemic inflation (which was world-wide from pandemic shutdowns). All of that money your Republican lawmakers are bragging about coming to your states, Democrats did. Repubs all voted against it and now want to claim it. Watch C-SPAN. Be informed.

Yes but the speaker also seems to have realised that if the funding isn’t supplied now to shut Putin down, then it will escalate into needing troops - and his eldest son has just started basic training. Meaning he’ll likely have to be involved in any conflict.

Okay let's talk about how WE benefit real quick, since you clearly don't care about other countries or people. First of all, Russia is a hostile government, and Ukraine fighting them is the cheapest form of defense we could ever have for our nation and no American lives are being lost. Second it keeps us allied with these other countries, which is good for global market stability, and also we're the only country that has ever called NATO to war for us so maybe it's a good thing to have allies if we're attacked. Even from purely selfish standpoints it's just good foreign policy to help Ukraine. Republicans oppose it for 2 main reasons, 1. Putin owns many of them and 2. anything BIden does is bad and they have to oppose it.

I’m so confused on how Johnson is better than McCarthy when he is so much more shady and extreme. How did the democrats participate I ousting McCarthy when he was working across the aisle, and Johnson now is, but has been pretty horrible in terms of his record. Maybe they have something on McCarthy and Jan6. Dunno. But, it is indeed true that McCarthy did start an inquiry on Gaetz. And o think that was a good thing. Was this a power move? Maybe… was it effective. Yeah. It was. But, do we want to be about just power like Republicans? I’m torn on that one. We do want to win and we desperately need to as all our rights are disappearing. So, maybe we do. But, we do have to thread carefully, because, the party is now completely infiltrated with former republicans and we don’t wanna become Dixiecrats. Due to our two party system this has happened many times before. I myself was once a Republican. A moderate, but a Republican nonetheless. I think this may be good in some ways as we’re gearing toward a country before party mentality, but we MUST be really careful to not move toward nationalism which is usually what ends up happening at least from a historical standpoint. It’s very subtle, but it does happen.
