Yesss Sir...a set of new strings and lay the action as low as you can it with out buzzing and change the battery if it's a active bass and it's all good. I don't sell any of my basses each bass has it's own special sound.
You‘re one of the 2% bassplayers who finally get it. Changing strings is making your bass sound incredible. I change them every two months and I get addicted to my basses. It‘s literally that easy. That MTD sounds as good as a bass can sound. Don‘t spend on anything else it won‘t sound better.
Thanks man! Yeah, the strings truly are key...I wish someone had told me when I was younger, might've saved some money. And your last two sentences though... 💯🤣🤣🤣Not touching a thing!
Tone is amazingly mad crazy. Do you have the stock preamp in it or did you change it has well. What is the string spacing on your bass and is it left handed or right handed? 💣💥🔥💯👍🎸🎤🎹
Thanks man! When I bought it used, it was already upgraded with the Bartolini NTMB+F preamp and Classic Single Coil J-Bass pickups. Only mod I'm going to make is replace the volume pot with a stacked volume/passive tone pot. 19mm string spacing and right handed...I've been shooting the vids with the front facing camera!🪞
I remember you mentioning that you had quite a few bass or gear. What all are you using, reason for asking is I'm an mtd guy all the way. So when ever you want to move some stuff maybe we can trade out. Cause I'm really digging on the way you set up your Saratoga. 💣💥🔥💯🙌👏🎸
@@777SCW Yo! I'll keep that in mind. I have basses right now including the Kingston Saratoga, covering most of the types: 5-string basses with PJ, JJ, double MM humbuckers, and EMGs, a 6-string modern headless multiscale and an old school vibe 4-string with double mudbuckers. Planning to videos on all of them before I sell any lol!
I just got one of those too this year.. I was having set up issues with mine with bad fret buzz. The frets had to be leveled a couple of different times. But now it plays well. I put some b-axis pick ups in it… the tone is beyond amazing.. I mean it was good before but it is crazy good now. I do want to put a bartolini pre amp in at some point in the near future because I’m used to the bartolini eq response and tone from those pre amps. You can email MTD and they will hook you up with the pick up and pre amp upgrades. I just put regular b axis pick ups in mine
Nice! I know that has to sound good! Those B-Axis pickups are 🔥! I bought this used and it had already been modded with the Bart setup. Fortunately, no fret issues. Glad you got yours playing right!
I use stainless steel strings. I normally change my strings every 6 months on the basses I use for practice and shows. Ones using on recording I change before a session as long as they are not over a month old. Plus I polish frets each change as well.
That's a good regimen! I'm with you on the 6 months, especially if you have enough basses to spread the playing on. I keep all of mine in their cases for the most part too for what it's worth. And definitely with you on refreshing the fretboard at every string change...Keep it up and avoid the thud lol!
Those will definitely do the job! 3 months is good and maybe stretch to 6 if keeping it in a case and not playing it too much. Maaan, still want that Lakland 55-02 though!
@@beamlarochelle5001 no I'm not joking I'm trying to learn to play. I have a 5 string schecter diamond series. Strings have been on it forever.. I couldn't tell you how they sound cause I never play amped up cause I don't want my neighbors to hear how bad I am.. I can play a few sections of a few songs
@@MauriceBoone-jm2xu Cool! I change strings at least every 6 months. It definitely makes a positive difference. It sucks because it's $50 each bass (5 string). My heavy metal guitarist change their strings every month but it's way cheaper for them but equals out by the end of the year.
Hey Maurice, with roundwound strings, to get the most sound out of your bass (meat and clarity), you're going to want to change your strings more often than not. Now, that amount depends on your preference for the sound and feel of the strings as they age, as well as the quality and material of the strings as some last longer than others. For bass where you're doing a lot of slapping and need that treble, changing more often is better. But if you aren't gigging or playing a lot, you can stretch it. I had Rotosound Steels on for a year and they actually still sounded kinda ok....
Good to see and hear that bass again.
Yo! Did you ever get yours sounding the way you want?
sounds good🔥🔥🔥
Thanks...She's a keeper! lol

That's it! I'm with you...Each bass I own has a specific sound (no repeats!). I'll be doing reviews on the rest of them, so stay tuned!
@C_Dot3 my four strings sound different from my 5 strings some are passive and some are active
I REALLY LOVE THE WAY YOU PLAY THE BASE GUITAR SIR🎸
@JohnDbassist Thank you sir! More content coming soon, so feel free to subscribe and take care!

Thank you...It's all in the strings!😉

I haven’t sold my bass yet since I use Elixir strings… I haven’t changed them in almost a year, but they still sound fresh! Haha
Smart man!😆I tried Elixirs one time and couldn't really get into the feel of them, but they are tried and true for sure.
Just put on some new DR High Beams on my Lakland and was feeling the same way!! I'm thinking a new set every 3 months or so should do the trick.

The days of great bass lines are gone....everyone is smitten with bass gymnastics
I love a great bass line! Would you prefer a bass line over a drum beat? I can do that on my next vid...
A year is too long to have the same strings ??????
I can't tell if you're Joking
