    Thanks Lighter 2018. I got my hands on another Colibri Sensatron 2000 touch sensor butane lighter, which i've repaired (was usual blocked fuel pipe), but discovered the filler valve was leaking quite badly.
    I took the filler valve out and noticed one of the two O rings was missing, replaced that, but still leaked. It was coming from the actual fill hole tube itself.
    Your video gave me the confidence (not been at this hobby long) to have a go and open the valve up and see what's up. It was a push fit type, and following your example, used two pliers to grip and pull / wiggle it apart.
    Roughed up the inner side brass a little, but took the burrs off with a little wet and dry paper. I replaced the inner fill tube O ring with a slightly larger dia one and put it back together (i stretched the spring a little too, but just a little). It still hisses out of that fill hole. Going to try another O ring next.

    You can get lots of different tiny sizes of gaskets from vape tanks and used coils. If you know a friend take every used atomizer coil and take it apart. Several grommets just in the coil. I have a case full of mini grommets and metal parts for so many uses. I save every lighter and torch for parts especially a piezo.

    Hi Mate, so I noticed you were saying that the Ronson valve with the pin in the centre are not repairable because you have to break them away and solder them back on, and I just wanted to inform you that you are actually wrong with a do breakaway in the centreand you can replace them rubber inside

    • @Lighters-cf4bd
      @Lighters-cf4bd  10 месяцев назад

      I dont know which valve your are referring to as there are so many ronson valves. When I refer to non repairable valves, I refer to
      valves that basically aren't threaded together. I call the pressed fit valves non repairable for the average guy as he will most likely
      ruin a valve before he gets it apart. This is why I do these videos. You will have to be more specific and post a video link here for me to understand exactly what your referring to. Sometimes I don't make myself clear or say something wrong and catch it later after its uploaded. I'm not very good at all at editing videos so I try very little as I don't have the time.

    Hey I was wondering what size flat screwdriver would be perfect for turning the flame adjustment valve that is in a torch lighter? I'm being specific about the type of lighter cause unlike other lighters it is alil deep in the lighter instead of being pretty much on the outskirts of a lighter

    vary useful video I recently started collecting old lighters mostly from flea markets and such. I recently got a Scripto butane stainless flip top lighter. It's kind of slim looking. its missing parts of its valve I got it cheap thinking parts would be easy to find. I was under the vary wrong impression that there was some kind of standard sizing when it came to valves boy was I wrong. anyways I now know how important it is to have a more complete lighter if you have any advice on what I could do with my lighter if anything at all let me know your video helped me understand how maybe my incomplete valve works.

    I'm trying to make a refillable Bic lighter using a refill valve from a cheap torch that stopped working, but I can't seem to figure out how to get the valve out of the torch. It appears you're using some kind of tool to twist the refill valves out... what kind of tool is that?

    i got a couple of my dad's old lighters a silver win barbi and copper(perhaps plated)win sensor with the unique touch metal sensor that sparks it so im not familiar with how that one works unlike the piezoelectric and both of them are not filling up or not holding the gaz i took the valves apart and noticed one o ring on the very top of the barbi valve near the thread was completely lacerated and on the win also cut or dried up but im not certain this is the problem as i doubt these end seals are holding the gas in ,anyways i set those aside for now and been wanting to fix my asg pocket torch that i got back in 2000, problem with that one was gas flow which i may have fixed by opening it up and trying to reset the gas line properly into the brass flame nozzle also there might be some clogging dirt in the nozzle or line but the other problem is the piezo wire is sparking in different places instead of on the nozzle so i may have to replace that one somehow,
    what i cant figure out is how the spark usually jumps between the wire tip and the flame nozzle despite there not being a return wire like you find in the bbq lighter wand piezos where you got two wires coming off the piezo so how is it the ones in lighters spark at the right place without a return wire to the piezo?
    also another question i have is about these fill valves, i guess there are two types some of them are only one way push in valves for filling and other ones have the long brass stem going through the tank and those ones you can adjust flame height with a flat head screwdriver from the bottom of the lighter on the fill valve itself correct? some have only the fill valve at the bottom and a lever flame height adjuster connected to the pull up valve(ie button and lever gas flow) on top which itself is either the gas nozzle or connected to a gas line that goes to a gas nozzle, others have both a lever adjuster and fill valve adjuster

    • @Lighters-cf4bd
      @Lighters-cf4bd  Год назад +1

      Piezo's are a pain to figure out. I learned that even though a piezo might be working, doesn't mean its up for the job of consistently lighting a lighter. I found this out by switching out a piezo from a like new lighter to the older one, When I did this, Boom it lit right up. I stay away from servicing piezo lighters for this reason.
      Most of the cheaper lighters will have a single "Flame adjustment Filler Valve Combo" this is usually a simple valve system but cane be difficult at best to work on because of the pressed in stopper valve on the burner side of this mechanism, it can be hard to remove without breaking the top of the brass valve. I worked on several lighters lots sent to me that I couldnt repair and had to send back because of this issue. Ther are no parts for replacement and the best way would be to replace the whole valve.

    • @ARCSTREAMS
      @ARCSTREAMS Год назад

      @@Lighters-cf4bd indeed in fact the piezo in my lighter seems to be working fine when i pulled it out to inspect it , it's a good one made in japan and it even makes a stronger spark than the spare i have which i was planning to replace it with, and its wire cover seems to be intact with no cuts or lacerations so idk how its failing to properly spark at the right place inside the lighter when i assembled it together , perhaps i messed something up with the parts like the spring that is between the brass flame nozzle and the tank's top valve perhaps acting as an electric conduit and i may have placed it back wrong, the spring might also be doubling for the button metal lever as well , idk i think i placed it back properly but like you said these piezos are iffy once out of place ,pain in the ass to figure yup , i also had to splice a longer wire on the replacement piezo because its wire was too short and ill try to use that one to see if it works in there , i was thinking of cleaning up the flame nozzle and its filter screens but the rubber seal on it already looked squished enough and i did not want to risk getting it more damaged or creating a leak plus i have no idea what to use to clean those very small interior components without making it worse, the gas flow seems to be working well enough but not as strong as when i first got the lighter , still fun working on these things and figuring them out and learning as i go and its a great feeling when you repair things, many times i fixed home appliances or clocks and wristwatches , made a very thin solder on the micro small copper wire wound inside one watch to get it to work again my dad was impressed lol

    • @ARCSTREAMS
      @ARCSTREAMS Год назад

      but i want to ask you perhaps you might know, how does the spark happen between the tip of the piezo wire and the flame nozzle if there is no secondary return wire to the piezo? i noticed in bbq wand lighters the piezo has two wires but the ones in most lighters only have one so how is there a spark being generated unless your hand skin is acting like a conduit,, if you tried sparking a piezo on a piece of metal nothing happens unless you are touching that metal at the same time so do you know how these work in the lighter?
      another thing i cant figure out is how come the tip of the wire never melts or burns with that 2500deg flame right next to it or on it?? @@Lighters-cf4bd

    • @ARCSTREAMS

      i understand but if there is no return wire to close the circuit then how does the spark happen in the first place? is it not dependant on the skin of the hand acting like a positive or something like that? i know the spark is HV around 3kv but if there is no return wire that means it will spark on your hand and if so how does it go through the nozzle first and then goes where?@@Lighters-cf4bd

No hurry because I need to make or buy a tool to remove it. I tried hemostats and it started to turn easily but after about 3/4 turn it wouldn’t budge and you are right about that brass being soft 🤯😤 so I’m stopping until I have a proper tool.
