In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.

Absolutely. That was a quick response!
If there was ever a fan season for taskmaster that genius should be among the contenders
Subtitles for john "reads welsh" subtitle for joanne "attempts to read welsh"
Watching TM with the subtitles/captions on just makes it even funnier. Hats off to the captioners!
Thanks for that 😂😂
There are hidden funnies in the subtitles? Well, now I have an excuse to binge the whole thing over again thank you!
Yet again, still expertly editing out the vampire's reflection.
21:39 for anyone curious :)
😂😂😂
I don’t see it 😢
And did they do it before?
Thanks
and again at 23:11!
Nick very meekly saying "um🥺... I don't think I've done this one right 😥" has me CACKLING
''Clear the Knappett!'' - John is such a fan ❤
I couldn't wait for the Knappet to be called into play.
Time stamp? I missed it
43:37 right before the final pushes
Only OG fans remember the stage being renamed the knappett
@@fritzybergerOne of the few times I ever saw Greg break character and be genuinely concerned for a contestant. Made it kind of touching, really.
I love how Taskmaster really always makes you go from "Oh I miss the old cast, who are the new ones? I don't know any of them" to "Holy shit these people are hilarious and I love them all" within a handful of episodes.
Right, this is one of my favorite casts, and I started off wondering if I'd like it.
@@perfectcuremt I get so annoyed when I see people complaining stubbornly about the last few casts, probably because we're all ageing and their favourite/most familiar comedians aren't in these later seasons. But the show knows how to put together a good cast and this one is in the top half I'd argue!! Even if some of the tasks are a bit rough around the edges (I mean, it's series 17) the chemistry and banter from this series is amazing.
@@SpoookiePoookieI agree with you! For me, Series 14 and 16 both stand out as all timer casts for me.
I was really excited to watch John, as a fan of Alex and his golf youtube channel. But the other cast I didnt know about have been super funny.
It was the trailer that did it for this season for me
Saw the interviews and got excited for this seasons cast , seemed like an awesome motley crew ❤
"I don't know what this is gaining me" had me in stitches for a solid 5 mins 😂😂😂 Nick is becoming one of my favorite contestants of all time
Same. I've always disliked his Mr. Swallows character in cats does countdown, but Nick is both funny and adorable.
He is the next in a long line of contestants who have brilliant minds but really, really suck at Taskmaster. Victoria Coren-Mitchell, Paul Sinha, Nish Kumar, and probably a bunch more I forgot.
“Ehm…I don’t think I’ve done this one right!” He actually does sound like he was crying, and my heart broke (as I was out of breath from laughing).
Literally 😂
Jon is the competitor I would want to be like. Nick is the competitor I would actually be like.
I stand with my statement that Jon is 'competent detail oriented Iroh'! 😋
"A Gutter of Gregs" would have been a great episode title.
Snooker Cue Umbrella Chin is hilarious too though
It seems like the titles have largely been quotes from Greg this season, which is unusual.
It is sweet that Horne created a job where he gets to play in the garden with his friends
Surprising nobody brought in the same photo as Rhod Gilbert used to bring for the prize task.
My first thought as well. That would have been so funny!
The picture of Greg’s mother in the bath, wearing a fez would have been an awesome choice!
Oh no John has triggered Greg's "If he wants it that bad, I am not giving it to him" reflex.
The line between acceptable-to-Greg sucking up and pathetic/mockable-to-Greg sucking up can be a very fine one.
@@jessehammer123 He is a large and fickle mistress
@@jessehammer123 basically the Asim Chaudhry VS Mark Watson
Its really surprising how long John was able to keep his hyper competitiveness hidden from Greg.
He’s also triggered Greg’s “Let’s see how indignant I can make Kiell Smith-Bynoe look” instinct.
Sophie’s mid air picture is actually really good! I could see it as the back of a Taskmaster deck of playing cards
It's really compelling. I hope it shows up in more places.
I love this task! Has the same creativity as the backwards movie. Would love to do this task!
What a great idea: to have a deck of Taskmaster cards with images of different contestants on the back - they could each be depicted in one of their best or worst moments. Another few seasons, and there'd be enough for a canasta deck (double a regular deck) - with Greg and Alex as all the jokers. Or, use 2 of the jokers for them and on the other two could be the yellow plastic duck and Linda the cow.
I've never wanted to play a collectible card game (Magic, Hearthstone, etc.) before. But make a Taskmaster one and I'll go broke buying packs until I get them all!
I made it my laptop bg
"Come on, Linda."
" Nick."
Why didn't that get a laugh? 😂😂
John Kearns is leaving quite a legacy! First his car trip sailor's hat in the barge task and now his business card on a Welsh tie.
I knew I recognized that from somewhere! And they laughed at him...
I swear when John yelled “Clear the Knappett!” TM fans across the world all fell even further in love with this glorious man ❤
They christened the stage "The Knappett", there's a plaque over the that part of the stage

"Good Luck, Nick." - Greg whispers to his (obvious) s17 crush. He wants to go to a brunch with that man so badly it's killing me.
My s17 crush, too. He is so nice
@@catswirejewelry honestly, same. The vampire shenanigans make me love him more? Father of three? (Lord of Darkness) have mercyyyy
@@super-mollio I also like how well he deals with failing a task. The angry approach of some contestants got old rather quickly for me. When he says "oh ok", I just want to cuddle him, lol
He’s a goddamned delight.
I’ve had a crush on one of the contestants each season but Nick really got me early on 😄
21:39 editing the reflection out is beyond brilliant.
And again at 23:15 lol
Wow. I fear that is brilliance that will not get the credit it deserves
They've been doing it all season, it's awesome
@@tobyk8125 This is one of the reasons why Taskmaster is so well rewatchable: there are always countless little moments of that kind.
I actuall thought people were joking until i saw it...🤭
The show's Scene design and decoration is insane.
I want to shake the hand of whoever decides what to put in the shed.
Nick wearing a Diamond Dogs sweater is a nice nod to Ted Lasso ❤️ he seems like such a lovely guy
Weirdly, Nick has more Ted Energy than Jason Sudakis.
Thought it was a Metal Gear Solid reference, disappointing.
@@tslice114Of note, Metal Gear Solid is referencing the David Bowie album, which Ted Lasso is too. So, at least they share the same core reference lol
For "bear an impressive load", my first thought was I'd put Alex on my shoulders. Then I realized that's just setting Greg up to say "I don't find Alex impressive."
My idea for the female candidates would have been "the burden of motherhood"
Well he wasn’t even impressed when Hugh Dennis lifted Alex as part of his choreography
I almost wish someone had taken that L for the sake of comedy, like how Desiree from Season 12 refused to use the scissors and got a single point just so she could get the funny clip.
I really wanted Jon to put the Greg statue on his chair instead of the cardboard cutout. sadly it was a missed opportunity.
@@iliketrains3495 That might've been the biggest snubbing I've seen in the show's history. Noel got so many points off absolute garbage submissions.
Oh, the joy that two grown ass dressed up middle-aged men playing tag gives me 8:57
I find that really adorable 😄
Joanne McNally offering to financially support the Cuban revolution for 5 points is the best thing I've ever seen
"I don't think I've done this one right" crying laughing
36:58 “Know what you want and have the confidence to go after it.” I had business cards made with that quote and I gave one to a small, bearded man once.
The genuine appreciation in Greg's eyes at 15:32 :D
thank you for this timestamp, it warmed my heart
John tied ten ties together before using them to tie himself to the cot because he remembered the Task from Series 7 when the contestants had to tie themselves up, then have Alex untie them, but were interrupted to put on boliersuits halfway through. The man is a Taskmaster savant.
I was positive it was going to be a two parter
@@ryshow9118 Me too.
That was quite the photo of John in mid air. He was having a good time, having a good time.
He's a shooting star leaping through the sky
Like a tiger, defying the laws of gravity

He's having such a good time, he's having a ball
Don't stop John now!

@@bobafettjr85 damn straight, I ain’t banned from RUclips
"and the balls on the skirt got it quite wet"
i like that John is clearly wanting to win this but it doesn't feel agressive as it did (a bit) with other Ed...conestants... He's still the funny one.
He gives me Dara energy, and I'm predicting that he will be up there with him as one of the strongest contestants of all times.
I don't think John Robins is any less competitive than Ed, but maybe he doesn't show it quite in the same way. Personally, I didn't mind Ed. I also think the competition is not quite as stiff in S17. Joanne and Steve are good, but John is already 10 points ahead of Joanne and 13 of Steve. Even at the end, Ed was fewer than 10 points away from both Rose and Katy. (And Katy was sick during the studio recordings.)
Thankful his competitiveness is expressed differently than Ed's ... or Iain Stirling's.
25:10 Sophie saying "You really want this don't you?" absolutely took me out!
Huh interesting. John feels to me has a level of intensity that far surpasses Ed, it's just not expressed outwardly. He holds all of it inside and creates this aura of still air in the studio. It's very similar to Mae from series 15. Personally I enjoy it more when someone like Ed or Iain let it all out. It creates funnier studio interactions to me. But that's just preference.
Nick got the right idea in the tie task that you could get out and even get the bed out, oh if only he had done it before tying himself, what a tragedy and so sad when he said "I don't think I've done this one right"
🎶 He says he's over six foot, but he's five foot four! LITTLE ALEX HORNE! 🎶
Greg's face and arms up in elation during Pemberton's Action Replay at the end when he wins the Parking Challenge...we need that on a T-Shirt.
I can recommend to everyone turning on the subtitles. Mostly they are just subtitles but then there are gems like "HE READS WELSH" vs "SHE ATTEMPTS TO READ WELSH".
I can't be the only one that just wants Nick to win an episode....
You're not - I do, too!
The fact that in the same episode different people made the joke I was very TIRE’D 23:39 and I’m quite TIE’RED 27:22 is one of the most taskmaster moments i’ve seen
I enjoyed Nick's reading of the sign so much 😂 He went for it and it was perfect! 😃
24:51 this is such a good still. The stoicism of the pigeon head in a suit getting drenched and the wild panic of the flamboyant human pourer makes for great dichotomy.
well deserved 5 points
I'm surprised (A) that the title of this episode wasn't "A Gutter of Gregs" and (B) that there was not a single sausage roll in that gutter.
I really expected Alex to come back with sausage rolls when he ran out so hastily to get Greg(g)s.
I was waiting for SuperKins’ “Drumroll Prize” of “Greg(gs)” to appear on that guttering.
Poor Steve Pemberton goes above and beyond for his tasks only for them to go wrong at last minute.
But he is clearly such a lovely, creative guy and a good sport when it all goes south! I always look forward to his attemps.
I cant believe they didnt give us a shot of the secret room. I know we've seen it before as a cake room and a treasure room, but I want to see the costumes, especially because of Steve's reaction.
Maybe they've expanded the secret room, there could be a whole Narnia in there for all we know. SHOW US THE SECRET ROOM ALEX!
I'm holding out on my personal theory that it will play an important role later in the series!
Nick had me crying laughing this ep
Nick turtling himself 😂😂😂
That editing after "the load was on his chin" makes me think there was definitely an unbroadcastable joke there. Probably from Joanne.
I was about to have to ask if that slang is transatlantic or not.
I'm looking forward to the outtakes 😂
Load on the chin is the joke
It's actually pretty universal, even in South asian countries I've heard it be called "load" but in native languages @xYahwehx
Love it when the final task seems simple but becomes actually tense
The fact that they refer to that stage as "The Knappet" is genuinely amazing 😂
Oh my god Nick during the tie task made me cry laughing
23:40 “I was very *tired*” was so underrated.
The subtitles got it
As was the final image of Nick, “tyred”, with his gloved hands covering his face.
"The load is on his chin--" Greg, unable to keep the sophomoric joy from saying this about (his crush) Nick. It's nearly CRIMINAL in that this statement came 'naturally'.. and he's SO transparent about his bias over his Nick - Love and Steve - Hate.
It makes them being teamed up that much more exciting!!
Greg has determined that i must wait until after work tomorrow for the next episode. Im not sure how ill make it through the night. Perhaps Patatas can curl up next to my feet for some comfort.
The way they joke about life as a comedian in such a meta way is so funny to me. The roasting that must go on lol.
Oh no, that wasn't roasting. That was harsh reality.
I just realised the tie at 37:00 was a reference to season 14 episode 3 of John Kearn's business card! This show is brilliant 😂
Sophie was so amazing this episode, I haven't giggled so hard in a while when she was jumping with the pigeon! Devastated she missed her chance to win the episode
gotta love Nick's "Diamond Dogs" shirt!
Woof woof woof woof woof!
sophie's mid-air picture was actually so incredible, one of the best things to come out of taskmaster!
The tie task read "If you pull down the 'terrible tie', you are disqualified."
I had to go back and watch again whether the terrible tie was pulled down, or just happened to fall. It was pulled.
Nick asked how he would know which is the terrible tie. Alex replied "Oh, you'll know" like it would be immediately obvious. What a little liar.
I had hoped pulling the terrible tie would cause an immediate effect like dropping pudding on them or something.
@@JLF201 Yeah Alex saying "oh you'll know" was just a lie
@@paulomatute4114 Eventually you will know
@@paulomatute4114 It wasn't a lie, he just didn't say *when* you'd know it was the terrible tie. But they knew eventually
@@JLF201 I mean, it was written on the tie. What else do you want?
Greg when someone else is getting 5 points: well done you really accomplished that task you deserve these points
Greg when Sophie is getting 5 points: I'm mildy terrified and legitimately concerned for your sanity and the safety of the fellow cast and crew, have 5 points you little creature
The little moment at 16:46 when John holds up one hand and a thumbs up, and then waves the thumbs up 😂😂
I HADNT NOTICED!! so funny
john waving with his thumbs-up because he was too concentrated was so cute 16:47
Sophie really smashed it this episode.
Once again, Nick has me in stitches! That guy is comedy
10:37 “I’ve maximized the load by using the pegging system.” Is one hell of a sentence out of context.
The vampire outfit is just too good. Thanks for the upload!
"I don't think I did this one right" 😂
you can really tell who the real taskmaster is when they laugh and then full on applaud for "under there" "underwear"
Nick wearing the Diamond Dogs jumper, I am here for it
Joanne: "This is something from like a really low-end brothel, isn't it?"
Ok...I see that coming from Joanne. But then...
LAH: "Hate the low-end ones." !!! :D
The green tie has to be a reference to John Kearn's motivational business card from Series 14! I'm guessing the yellow and purple ties are also Taskmaster quotes from previous seasons but I can't place them.
I would've loved if Alex would've made a callback to the "print, laminate, distribute" family motto, since he said these are his family mottos :D
"I'll have to interrupt you physically."
Every time I see Nick smiling, he reminds me of chipmunk or quokka. Really cute.
Please tell me im not the only one that was hoping someone would interpret "bear the most impressive load" as "call up your family member and tell them you are covering their child's entire uni tuition", or something similar.
I'm not sure I have seen Joanne on anything before Taskmaster, but I have an incredible crush on her! I love her chaos, sense of humour, and of course the Irish accent.
Every week, I get more and more excited by Joanne's collection of athletic shoes.
Not a single person pointing out that vole's CATASTROPHIC lack of chutzpah. 0/10.
Gregs giving out the points and still annoyed at how many john is getting lol
I would like the audience member who said “inflation” to be on the next series of Taskmaster
Not only is Steve Pemberton's parachute rope cut, the pack didn't even open when he deployed.
Double bad luck!
I'd love to see what extraordinary picture Rhod Gilbert would have brought for this prize task 😏
I’ll have to interrupt you physically lmao
Nick and the ties!!! Once he flipped, I was done !!!😂😂😂😂😂😂
John knows the Knappett! He's just like us.
Watching Nick trapped under the bed let me finally release the last few lingering feelings of distrust for Nate.
Nick Mohammed rolling on the floor like a pill bug made me laugh so hard I must've stopped breathing for a full minute and a half.
While watching videos from old series, I’ve just realized how they took out the advertisement break scenes, like with Alex waving at the camera wit numbers, idk how to explain. I used to love those
Love how the vampire doesn't have a reflection in the puddle😂
Not even halfway through the series and I've already got a huge crush on John. He's such a unique kind of adorable!
Wow, I’ve never been here for the countdown to the episode release before. How thrilling!
I feel like there might be a lot of opportunity to wonder if there's any actual negativity between Alex and Greg, but one, they've been doing it for 17 seasons, either yes or they're really locked into a paycheck, but two, Alex's laughter at 9:32 shows how much fun they're really having underneath it all
The final task would be a blast as a party game, no joke. I could see my friends getting weirdly into it.
yes
Seeing Nick in the Diamond Dogs sweater made me so happy! Because I only have seen him on Ted Lasso before TM.
Tiny wheels always have that element of chaos you just can't predict!
It’s a shame Nick didn’t wear his costume during the midair challenge. He has a cape! Any picture he take would look terrific.
Love how sophie keeps high fiving everyone :)
Sophie's mid air picture would make an amazing album cover. 😂
I thought the Diamond Dogs sweater was a Metal Gear Solid reference then I remembered it was a David Bowie album so I briefly thought it was that but then I remembered Ted Lasso used the term a few times if I remember right. So there's that little journey inside my own head. Regardless of where it's aimed at, that's awesome
The whole pre jump task banter was gold from start to finish 😂
Thank you for posting these programmes. Has anyone realised the amazing room staging , sofa, table, picture but all changed each time.... it's the details ❤
I love how every one of Steve’s tasks could be a No 9 episode
Alex Horne told Steve "You've kept your dignity" when "dignity intact" was RIGHT THERE
This episode is just full of innuendo filth. I’ve never been more in love. 🥰
